Romantic Hotels in Porto District, Portugal

"The hotel is about an 8-minute walk from the nearest metro station, so the location is quite convenient. There is a bit of a hill on the way, which can be slightly tiring if you’re carrying a suitcase. The room was more spacious than I expected and also nice and quiet, so overall I had a comfortable stay! Considering the price, it’s really good value for money and I would definitely recommend it."

"We stayed at Picassobang for 3 nights and 4 days during our trip to Porto! First of all, the breakfast was not very varied, but it was full, and the auxiliary facilities, such as the swimming pool, outdoor pool, and sauna, we were shown and explained each one, but we were not able to use themㅠ The location is within walking distance of the Lello Bookstore, the observatory, the bridge, etc.! It was fun that each room had a different theme. The hotel itself has a design point, so it's great for taking pictures! All the staff working were kind, and the suits were cool and stylish! If we go to Porto again, we decided to go to Torell again! Thank you for staying with us!🤗"

"The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center. The only downside is that taking a taxi might involve some traffic jams due to the narrow streets, but thankfully, taxis in Porto are quite affordable. The rooms are on the smaller side, so there are no triple rooms. We were a group of three and booked two rooms. One of the rooms had a broken hairdryer, so we had to use the one in the other room."

"The hotel's location right in front of Boliao Market was excellent, making it easy to access all tourist spots. It's like a slightly larger, wooden capsule hotel, and the condition was surprisingly good, so it wasn't bad at all. The overall interior design of the hotel had a modern vibe, and there was a water tank (?) on the rooftop where you could dip your feet, though not actually swim. They offer a stylishly decorated Carlsberg as a welcome drink. However, the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak. Also, I went to check out the sauna on the second floor because it was advertised, but it wasn't working each time I went. There's a restaurant and bar on the ground floor, and it would probably be good to go during their open hours (though I didn't use them myself). Everything else was great. The staff were all very friendly too."

"Overall, everything was good: the room itself was excellent, clean, and featured a great, comfortable shower. No issues at all with the cleanliness or the room setup. However, the check-in process was a nightmare. The staff at the reception were openly rude and completely unwelcoming. We arrived just a bit early, but they flat out refused to check us in, without even trying to accommodate us or show some flexibility. Because of this hostile attitude, the entire experience was ruined, even though the hotel itself is decent."

"I had such a pleasant trip with my wife, and our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful. We arrived early in the morning, as our flight landed around 6 AM, while our check-in time was around 2 PM. The staff were incredibly kind and allowed us to store our luggage so we could explore the city comfortably while waiting for our room. When it was finally time to check in, the service was top-notch. Our room was as clean as it could be, and the view from our window was beautiful. The bed, bathroom, and towels were all spotless and well-maintained. I’m extremely happy with my stay here and would definitely come back to this hotel if I ever visit Porto again. Highly recommended!"

"What a lovely hotel. Firstly we were given a free upgrade to a beautiful suite over looking the river with everything we could need. We wish we were staying for longer than one night! The breakfast was so good, fantastic choices and good quality. Location was good too, slightly away from the centre but a lovely walk along the Douro river."

"I chose this hotel for Christmas alone staycation and looked forward to enjoying the comfort and tranquility in the beauty of Porto. Unfortunately, the initial impression was more like a shrewd business deal than a warm welcome, which greatly undermined the experience. The main problem occurred at check-in. The room assigned to me was hardly matched by the promotional picture. When I expressed disappointment, the front desk told me: “Yes, this is one of the worst rooms with a view,” and the solution he immediately proposed was a paid upgrade. He showed me another room on the same level, the view was acceptable but the bathroom smelled bad. Then he informed that since I stayed for four nights, the upgrade option of €30 per night was not available and I had to pay for a “double upgrade” of €60 per night. The hotel was not full in fact, but he explained on the grounds that ”a room is reserved for holidays”. From that moment on, I was very disappointed, and the whole interaction set the tone for forced sales from the beginning. Also, as a wine-themed hotel, my room didn't even have a wine glass, which required extra requests. Not that everything was terrible. The breakfast was excellent and the spa facilities were really superb. My (upgraded) room view was amazing too. Most of the staff were very attentive. It was these factors that made my rating not lower. However, based on my experience in luxury hotels in Portugal and other countries, this is the first time I have encountered such a rigid, revenue-focused check-in process. Real luxury should feel seamless and generous, and employees should be empowered to create joy for guests. And here, every step seems to be trying to maximize revenue. It's a place with luxury facilities, but in my experience, it lacks the soul of a true hospitality."

"Went through a decent checked in process. There is 24/7 front desk, so even though we arrive at 1am everything is fine. Have a few words about the fan position in the room. It is placed right on top of the bed so there might be wind blowing into your face when you sleep. The team handled my feedback quickly and their efficiency is impressive."
