The hotel is conveniently located near Kyoto Station's Hachijo East Exit. I highly recommend taking the airport limousine bus; the hotel is just 100 meters straight ahead after you get off. Check-in is self-service and very convenient, with a Chinese interface available. The room was clean and tidy, equipped with a coffee machine and an electric kettle. The bathroom was also spacious, and all disposable toiletries were provided. There are magnetic signs on the door for 'change towels' and 'do not disturb' that you can place there before leaving. The room doesn't provide bottled water, but there's a water dispenser on every floor where you can get your own.
If you turn left from the hotel and cross the street, there's a large Aeon supermarket just 50 meters away! It's perfect for grabbing discounted food every evening – super good value!
Overall, it was an excellent stay.
Amazing space ,wonderful private bath with jacuzzi, steam room and massage chair. There was an assortment of bath scents and amenities. Robes and slippers provided. We enjoyed the pampering. It was a long walk from the train but so worth it.

This is one of good place in Kyoto that everyone should go. It’s near the Kyoto to station and many attractions place. You can walk easily to go restaurant and sightseeing. The room has many functions that you can use its . The highlight of this place is onsen that it includes when you stay at this hotel. Everything Nitchya Tiewanichkul can relax your body after walking the city. The breakfast has many food that you can select.

Might be more suitable for first timers or travellers who are into Kiyomizu temple or Gion(both location walkable from hotel)
I'm a frequent traveller to Japan/Kyoto thus location does not work well for me but not a deal breaker.
Hotel is pretty big as I feel the distance walking from elevator to room, decent size rooms with windows that can be opened for maybe 3 inches(?) Enough pillows and quiet room for good rest and also nice public areas with lotsa greens. Rooms need to be more throughly cleaned though as I found coffee/tea stains on the table top(not acceptable for hotels of this grade)
The in room water dispenser is a great idea though.
There's a bakery within the hotel itself thats open from breakfast if you are into convenience, delish but there are simply too many good bakeries(or other breakfast places) in Kyoto.

The breakfast was very delicious and had a wide variety of choices. Everything tasted great and I never got bored of it even after a few days. The onsen was also very comfortable and relaxing — it was the perfect way to unwind after a long day. I also really liked the shampoo and bath amenities provided by the hotel; they smelled amazing and made my hair feel very smooth.
Another nice touch was that the hotel provided free laundry washing, although the dryer required a small fee. They also offered free ramen at night, which was a really nice service, but I was too full to try it at the time. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back again!
Fantastic, very comfortable, and well-equipped. They have everything you could need, the service is excellent, and the location is super convenient for transportation. I had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back next time!

Everything is perfect except the so-called wagyu dinner at the hotel restaurant. While the photo of the menu presents a nice wagyu and you can pre-order as many times as you can within 90 minutes, the beef was served in a very disgusting appearance. It is tough and dark yet it is not done inside. It is definitely not worthy of 7890 yens pax. It was electric grill but not charcoal grill. Anyway, the services provided the waiter, Alan, is brilliant. He was sincere and friendly.
The housekeeper, Ms Aina Sao was also deserve my praise. She works with a nice and sincere manner and always put a smile on her face. Also, there are free wine, snacks and beer after 3 pm. You could also grind coffee beans and make yourself a cup of nice coffee. The public bath is not a real onsen. There should be no natural minerals in the water but a slight smell of chlorine.
All in all, Hotel Potel is definitely on my list when I visit Kyoto next time.

Excellent hotel! The location is super convenient, with easy access everywhere. The breakfast was lavish and the ambiance was great. I loved the Blue Bottle coffee downstairs. The lounge was perfect for getting some work done at a large table while enjoying a drink – super comfortable. Best of all, I left some clothes behind, and when I emailed them, they said they could hold onto them for a few years! This will definitely be my go-to hotel whenever I visit Kyoto.

This place is AMAZING for its price point. Everything is sparkling clean and quite new. The location is amazing as it is just next to the metro station. It is also quite close to the bus station and that's important as buses are way more convenient than trains in Kyoto. For food, there are cheap franchised restaurants around and 7-eleven right opposite. In terms of service, the staff there are friendly, polite, and accommodating. The shared bathrooms and the bedrooms are clean. There is nothing more I could ask for! AMAZING STAY.

A truly comfortable stay. The hotel boasts a fantastic design aesthetic, from the lobby to the rooms, seamlessly blending Japanese aesthetics with modern design. The in-room lighting is superb, and both the bed and sofa were incredibly comfortable. The space is generous enough for two people, so it never felt cramped. The location is superb; it's in a quiet area, yet just a short walk to bustling areas. Convenience stores and restaurants are abundant nearby. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and provided impeccable service. Outstanding value for money.

Very Good
MMaverickWhen we first got there, there wasn’t any staff at the reception, apparently to call them, you would have to pick up the phone on the front desk. Although the staff speak limited English, they are friendly and accommodating.
There was PLENTY of space in the room, being able to open 2 big luggage’s with room to walk around. There was the minor inconvenience of having to pack our belongings and put to a side for check out every day, and check in again.
The breakfast of 2 options (Western/Japanese style) was a tad bit too salty for our liking. We had the chance to utilise the roof top onsen, and which was quite a refreshing experience.
The location is 10/15mins away from the nearest train station, so not very convenient when we were pushing our luggages to the hotel.
GGuest UserFantastic, very comfortable, and well-equipped. They have everything you could need, the service is excellent, and the location is super convenient for transportation. I had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back next time!
GGuest UserThis is the best place I've stayed at so far in Japan. It's indeed pricier than regular hotel, but you will get a modern ryokan experience with private wooden bathtub that is very nice. I choose the western breakfast option and it was amazing. Staff are very nice and helpful, they even give me a heatpack after check-out since it's still cold outside. I don't really mind it but the location that is not really close to a train station, there is bus station nearby though. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kyoto to try the different type of room!

Amazing
GGuest UserI saw no reviews before ordering, so I commented. The hotel is a relatively small hotel with maybe 10 rooms in total. Most of them are foreigners. The hotel service is very good. The breakfast is not a buffet, but there are many varieties. The salad is delicious even though I don’t like salad. My girlfriend can’t get up early. He Will also be delivered to the room
