Romantic Hotels in Catalonia, Spain

"We spent a weekend at Aiguablava Parador in Begur. We were a party of four people. The good points were the location, the rooms (comfortable beds, fabulous sea view, spacious rooms, nice amenities) the hotel is very spacious and tastefully decorated. The swimming pool, at the top end of the cliff, although not massive, is large enough and with fantastic views of the area. A very privileged position with views of Aiguablava cove and a private path down to the cove. Breakfast was varied and good quality in general and served in the breakfast room with gorgeous views. Freshly squeezed fruit juice and good quality coffee. The negatives were the check in experience, too long and with an inexperienced receptionist who lacked aptitude in the treatment of experienced travelers/customers and couldn’t get my name right. There was a general lack of coordination between departments (reception and restaurant) our evening meal reservation was not communicated to the restaurant either of the two days and my name was wrong in all departments from beginning to end even though the receptionist had access to my ID card and the online booking form. The evening meals were sub standard. Generally unpleasant food, tasteless fish and a dirty lukewarm brown sauce, packet custard-based deserts. Brick sized chunks of melon as fruit salad. Some dishes were inedible. A very limited wine list and very expensive wines. The service in the restaurant varied from pleasant to inappropriate with some comments from waiting staff demonstrating their inexperience and unsuitability to work in a hotel of this category, even though they were pleasant and kind at all times. On a final note, I requested by telephone if it would be possible to have some candles on a desert on our final evening as we were celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday. The receptionist said it would be no problem but it was not communicated to the restaurant and forgotten. As there had been so many hiccups with communication in general I didn’t bother to even try to remind them. "

"I might be slightly harsh about this hotel and setting standards too high, but upon checking in to my room, I found the room to be somewhat old (normal given to age), but the water kettle was extremely dirty (hotel was kind to give me a replacement). Service was good, as expected from a 5 star hotel. Location was decent, a bit far from the tourist action which was nice. Saturday nights = party on the roof top bar which meant lots of noise and music even on the 9th floor. I was hoping for better but maybe this is what 5 star meant in Barcelona? I am not sure, I had a pleasant stay for my 4 nights but there were some ups and downs. Good restaurant, nice lobby. Also the bathroom window is completely see-through so if you like your privacy you might want to request it being blocked before you stay. Nice view from the roof."

"The room was spacious, relatively clean, and close to the train station. However, when I inquired with one of the reception staff, they said that free bottled water would be provided every day, but it was only provided on the first day. So I asked how much it cost, and they said it was 1.5 euros for 500ml. I went to a nearby supermarket where they were selling the same volume of water for 0.25 to 0.3 euros, so I bought it there."

"Amazing location and fantastic view -I will be back just for that .In the other hand very poor breakfast with not much variety and running out of most of the main dishes on the buffet .Never seen the chef do the refill -Regarding the sport bar fantastic service provided by young Spanish girl even do the person who managed seems to very nervous and unfriendly. But again I suggest highly to stay to this hotel but avoid breakfast.."

"The location was excellent, being close to the Dalí Museum, and the hotel itself was superb – easily the best we stayed at during our entire trip to Spain and Portugal. The serene interior design and the exquisite paintings adorning the walls all contributed to a sophisticated ambiance, truly showcasing the hotel's impeccable taste. Our room was also very spacious, ensuring a wonderfully comfortable stay."

"We came for an exhibition in June. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to shorten our stay at the hotel. We informed the hotel administration 3 days before our original check-out date and requested a refund for the extra days, but our request was denied. I believe that an exception could have been made for the refund, and they could have been more accommodating in this situation."

"The room is wide, clean and there are a few simple things provided. The location is very pretty but a little bit far on foot from public transport. Now, the bathroom is only separated from the room by a blind, through which you can see everything from the side. This leaves no place for privacy and is very uncomfortable. Furthermore, it seems to me that we were placed in some kind of suit, where only a door was separating us from another room. Amazing choice of isolation when your neighbours decide to have a very long and loud conversation at 3am in the morning, and you can hear everything. I wouldn't recommend for the price that only one night costed us."

"A fantastic 4-star hotel! While not in the city center, it's incredibly convenient for commuting, with bus and metro stations nearby. The hotel's facilities are very modern, the staff provides excellent service, and the environment is lovely. On the first day, we received complimentary welcome mineral water and two drink vouchers. The outdoor swimming pool is a good size – not too big, not too small – perfect for a quick workout during your trip. I highly recommend staying at this hotel when you visit Barcelona! 🏨"

"The room was quite spacious, likely a suite originally. The sofa bed in the living room was wide, and the bedroom actually had two small single beds pushed together. There's a kitchen, so you can buy groceries from nearby supermarkets and do some simple cooking. It's equipped with cutlery, pots, a microwave, and an induction hob. Only on the first day did they provide two cans of sparkling water; you can buy water at the large supermarket nearby for a few cents per 1.5-liter bottle. Bath towels are indeed changed only every two days. Toothbrushes are provided, but no slippers. Breakfast was quite generous. If dinner was included in your booking, you can choose either lunch or dinner. It includes a starter, main course, dessert, and any drink – very filling!"
