Hotel near Maoye World/North America New World Fashion Center,Taiyuan
Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan is located in the south commercial center of Taiyuan, many of the city's best shopping centers are all within walking distance, also with easy access to the Shanxi International Expo Center and Shanxi Sports Center, 7 km to the South Railway Station and 12 km to Wusu International Airport.

"I stayed for 4 days. There was almost no service. I arrived at the hotel at 4 PM, and although they helped me arrange a higher floor, I waited for almost an hour, and the room they arranged was still not ready. They then switched me to another room on the same floor. The lobby was very hot, and all the temporary resting spots were directly in the sun. When I got upstairs, I was a bit dumbfounded to find my room directly facing the elevator. Oh well, I checked in. The check-in experience wasn't great. Disposable toiletries weren't replenished promptly; besides toilet paper, you literally only got them once. For a 4-day stay (2 days booked via a group deal, 2 days via other platforms), the bedside power outlet didn't work. I had to unplug the table lamp to charge my phone, and that outlet was just awful. The floor-to-ceiling window blinds were very dirty, covered in dust. For the same pre-sale price, Shangri-La offers much better value for money. Kempinski seemed forced into pre-selling, almost as if they don't want future guests. There are just too many options in Taiyuan for this price point."

"This place has its own dedicated parking, conveniently located right behind Xinzhou Ancient City, making it super easy to get around. Charging and fueling your car is a breeze. You can bring back anything you buy in the ancient city and enjoy it at your leisure in your room. The private hot spring in the courtyard was a great experience – perfect for soaking while munching on snacks and sipping tea. It even has a retractable roof with lights, so you can enjoy it at night too. The service was top-notch; they provided a pet gift package and a welcome gift, which our dog loved! The staff were incredibly responsive, charming, and generous. We'll definitely be back!"

This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"What was most disappointing about this stay wasn't a broken piece of equipment or simply a late room delivery, but rather the hotel management's arrogant, shirking, and inactionary attitude when faced with problems. We booked three suites for two nights. The hotel's policy is a 12 PM checkout and 2 PM check-in. We arrived at 10:30 AM to check-in, but two suites weren't ready until around 4:30 PM, and the last one wasn't available until almost 5 PM. The duty manager, Becky, repeatedly explained that ”the previous guest only checked out at 3 PM.” However, a previous guest's late checkout, room status coordination, and housekeeping are all internal management issues for the hotel and should not be borne by the next guest. After checking in, we encountered a heating problem. At that time, the nighttime temperature in Mount Wutai was close to or even below 0℃. The hotel's in-room air conditioning system was off, and we had to rely on in-room heaters. The heater in one of the rooms was broken. Maintenance and management staff were slow to arrive, and we waited in the room for the duty manager for over 30 minutes, eventually having to switch rooms. The lobby manager, Manager Chen, explained that ”the hotel is relatively old,” and for the waiting time, stated that ”the front desk was busy, and this is considered a reasonable wait.” Even more outrageous, on the morning of September 30th, the guest in room 8228 went to the front desk in person to report being unable to sleep due to insect noise all night, and also had multiple obvious red swollen areas on their neck. The front desk took photos on the spot, provided a plug-in mosquito repellent, and stated that they would arrange for a re-cleaning of the room. However, during the afternoon discussion, the lobby manager still insisted that it might not be mosquito bites, but rather that ”the guest has a special constitution and is allergic.” Throughout the entire communication process, hotel management almost consistently explained why the problems were ”not the hotel's responsibility”: Late room delivery – blamed on the previous guest's late checkout; Manager's slow arrival – blamed on the busy front desk; Broken equipment – blamed on the hotel being old; Suspected mosquito bites – blamed on the guest's constitution; Cold room – stated there was no other solution. The lobby manager even repeatedly emphasized that ”the hotel is not a five-star hotel” and ”does not have a five-star rating, so it cannot be expected to meet five-star hotel standards.” However, the hotel itself is sold as a 5-diamond high-end hotel on Ctrip and is also under the Marriott brand. Guests were not asking for extra courtesies, but simply the most basic: rooms delivered on time, equipment functioning, heating when temperatures are near zero, and prompt resolution of issues when they arise. I want to particularly state that this review is not about compensation. The hotel did propose some compensation options during the process, but we ultimately did not accept any financial compensation, room rate reduction, or other benefits. Until our departure, hotel management did not offer a serious and formal apology for these issues. What I truly found unacceptable was the arrogance, inaction, and continuous shirking of responsibility displayed by the hotel staff when faced with problems. Old equipment can be repaired, late rooms can be coordinated, but if a hotel management team lacks even the most basic attitude of admitting fault, taking responsibility, and solving problems, that is the most serious issue. Objectively speaking, the hotel restaurant service was very good, and Jeremy from concierge was also very responsible. These employees deserve recognition. However, the guest room operations and the way management handled guest complaints fell far short of my basic expectations for the Marriott brand."

"Saw great reviews for this hotel online, and it definitely lived up to our expectations after checking in. The room was incredibly spacious and spotless. The front desk even thoughtfully prepared small drinks, cooling patches, and alcohol wipes. What really stood out was the thoughtful shuttle service to and from the venue, specially arranged for fans who traveled from out of town for the concert over these three days – absolutely amazing! I heard this was their first time trying it, but it was truly fantastic. All in all, we were very satisfied and hope to stay here again when a favorite celebrity comes to Taiyuan for another concert. 🫰"

"The view is absolutely 100 points. Facing the Yellow River and nestled against the mountain, at night, spotlights showcase Yuncheng's beautiful scenery! Now, let's have a few complaints. First, the service. They were incredibly accommodating, which is commendable. There was an evening event on the lawn in front of my room, but no one on Ctrip or at the hotel informed us. Since the event wasn't until after 11 PM, I contacted the housekeeper and was eventually offered a room change. Although we had two options—one with a broken bathtub and one with broken glass—we chose the one with the broken glass for quieter rooms. The guy who greeted us was very patient, even though we had already checked into the first room and used the bathtub. He was also very friendly! For the next two days, every staff member was indifferent and stern. While every request was met, the service was truly ”unexpected” for a Ctrip-sponsored resort. Second, the food. On the first day, I ordered Yellow River carp and found a hair. The staff didn't even apologize, but simply refunded it. I ordered other dishes. If I hadn't been embarrassed by the room change, I would have walked out. I think the poor service is still a problem of training. The requirements for waiters are too low, which really damages Ctrip's brand!"

"This hotel is truly excellent! It's super new, and all the facilities are fantastic. I booked a king room with a terrace, and the small terrace was incredibly comfortable and quiet at night. From the professional and polite driver who picked me up to the front desk service, everyone was wonderful. Even though it wasn't my first time visiting Datong, the warm and welcoming people here are the main reason I'd keep coming back. The location, needless to say, is top-notch. I was originally considering booking a room at [redacted mountain hotel], but I'm so glad I made a much better choice here. The breakfast was also incredibly delicious! The 'dao xiao mian' (knife-cut noodles) – with genuinely high-quality pork – and the lamb offal soup were even better than what you'd find outside. (The ones outside are often too salty, to the point where I thought I couldn't handle Datong's lamb offal soup.) I devoured two bowls! While the breakfast spread wasn't huge, everything was truly exquisite. Even the coffee tasted good, indicating quality beans. The chefs were also very kind, and their culinary skills were amazing! Sometimes, you really don't need to chase after '网红店' (internet-famous eateries); what the hotel offers is superior. Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience the swimming pool because I was rushing to a scenic spot. It's surprising that such a small hotel/guesthouse even has a pool! Next time, I definitely need to stay for a few more days to enjoy it. Finally, as someone who is quite a germaphobe and has never stayed in a guesthouse before, this new hotel/guesthouse really met my standards. Highly recommended. The off-season price is also quite reasonable."

Hotel near Yingze Park/Zhongzhengtian Street,Taiyuan
The Parkview Hotel provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Parkview Hotel is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Taiyuan. With Taiyuan Railway Station just 2km away and Taiyuan Wusu International Airport only 14km away, transportation is very convenient. Being just minutes away from LIUNAN Metro Station allows guests to explore the city with ease. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Ancient Mosque (Jiefang Road), Yingze Park and Huanghe Theater all nearby. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"Pros: 1. The room offers expansive views, overlooking Yingze Park, which is absolutely beautiful. 2. The hotel's front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and provided excellent service. 3. The hotel's interior facilities and amenities are very tasteful, including the toiletries and complimentary fruit. Cons: (Service rated 3 stars, with 2 stars specifically for dining) 1. The dining management on the hotel's 2nd floor needs significant improvement. We ordered five dishes for dinner; we finished the first two, but the rest were nowhere to be found. Three tables next to us, who arrived 5-10 minutes after us, had already finished their meals and some had even left. After we repeatedly urged them, our remaining dishes finally arrived, including dishes like knife-cut noodles. Others who arrived later had finished theirs before we even got ours. I have photos to prove this. Honestly, this aspect completely falls short of the hotel's overall standard."

A Very Relaxing and Memorable Stay From the moment I walked into the hotel, I could feel a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The Front Office staff were very friendly and helpful. They took the time to talk with us, explain things, and made the check-in process very smooth. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. I really liked the soft and relaxing colors of the room. The bed was big and comfortable, and the pillows were very soft. The bathroom, toilet, and dressing area were also well separated and well organized. There were also plenty of amenities in the room. I liked the evening turndown service. When we came back to the room in the evening, the bed had already been prepared, the lights were adjusted to a relaxing level, and there was a small snack next to the bed. After spending the whole day outside, this made us feel very relaxed and helped us forget how tired we were. The room was also very quiet. The curtains had two layers, so almost no sunlight came into the room in the morning. The air conditioner could be adjusted to the temperature we wanted, and the air did not blow directly onto us. We could not hear much noise from outside, so we had a very good night’s sleep. The breakfast had many choices. Since we stayed during 国庆 holiday, there were quite a lot of guests, so we had to wait around 10–15 minutes when we went down late. But I think this was understandable because the hotel was quite busy. I really enjoyed having the chance to try some local food from Taiyuan, Shanxi, such as 老豆腐, 刀削面, and 担担面. There were also bread, fruit, coffee, salad, Western food, and many Chinese dishes. There was something for everyone. The staff were also very attentive and regularly helped clear the plates. Another thing I really liked was the location. We could walk directly from the hotel into Maoye Mall through the back entrance, which was very convenient. After checking out, we could also leave our luggage at the hotel. Ivy, kindly helped us with this, and I really appreciated her help. I was especially impressed by the Front Office staff, both when we checked in and when we checked out. They were the first people who welcomed us and the last people who said goodbye to us, and they made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. I was very happy to have the chance to give them a small gift(mini bread) as a thank you for taking such good care of us :) Overall, we had a really wonderful and relaxing stay here. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making us feel so comfortable and welcome. If I have the chance to visit Taiyuan again, I will definitely stay here again. ❤️

The hotel boasts an excellent location, close to the ancient city, with views of its night scenery from the rooms. There's ample parking, making it very convenient for those traveling by car. Plenty of dining options are nearby, perfect for exploring and eating. Both the front desk and room service were spot-on; they delivered a fruit platter daily and thoughtfully provided pear soup and a souvenir. The room was spacious, clean, and well-stocked with mineral water. Breakfast offered a good variety, with the knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup being particularly delicious. It's a hotel with great value for money!

I found this hot spring hotel online, and after seeing the good reviews, I decided to book a stay to try it out. The online reviews were absolutely right – the environment is beautiful, the facilities are excellent, and the rooms are comfortable, spacious, and spotlessly clean. The natural volcanic hot springs and pools have crystal-clear water, offering an incredible experience that instantly brought me immense satisfaction. Furthermore, the front desk service was incredibly welcoming; check-in was smooth and fast, and they patiently and meticulously answered all my questions. 1. The hotel boasts an excellent location, and parking is incredibly convenient with plenty of available spaces. 2. Having stayed in hundreds, if not thousands, of hotels, I can confidently say that the cleanliness here is exceptionally rare. The sheets and floors were completely free of hair, the sink had no stains, and the toilet not only lacked any unpleasant odors but even had a subtle, pleasant aroma. The housekeeping is truly outstanding. They even thoughtfully provided hand cream on the bathroom vanity. 3. On the day of check-in, because I booked late, all the family rooms and suites were fully booked, leaving only twin rooms with 1.2-meter beds. These beds are a bit narrow. It would be even better if the hotel could replace the 1.2-meter twin beds with 1.35-meter or even 1.5-meter twin beds. 4. The hotel only offers a laundry service charged per item, with no self-service washing machines. For guests traveling for extended periods, a self-service washing machine is an essential must-have. It would be great if the hotel could add self-service laundry facilities.

What was most disappointing about this stay wasn't a broken piece of equipment or simply a late room delivery, but rather the hotel management's arrogant, shirking, and inactionary attitude when faced with problems. However, the guest room operations and the way management handled guest complaints fell far short of my basic expectations for the Marriott brand.

My stay at Wutong Apartments was wonderful! The room was clean, spacious, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. There is bathtub is luxurious and spacious, the shower has great pressure and the the separate toilet room has a motion censored toilet seat and a bidet. The bed was comfy and the closet space begs you to unpack your suitcase. There were thoughtful amenities, including a loofah cloth and shoe shine cloths. Now...the breakfast. It was the best breakfast buffet I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Tinder and well seasoned steak, salmon, soups, desserts, breads, scrumptious pancakes and a salad bar that even included kale amongst the varied greens. Best of all, the service was exceptional. A special thank you to Li Ne, the dining staff and the housekeeper who attended to my room. I wish that every hotel stay I experience in the future is as amazing as my time at Wutong Apartment Hotel.

I chose this hotel specifically for a concert in Taiyuan because of its venue shuttle service. The location is excellent, making it very convenient to get around.
