"Disappointing experience for a hotel of this standard
I had quite high expectations for Wanda Vista Hohhot, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing, especially considering the hotel is positioned as a five-star property.
The first impression at check-in was already not great. There was very little sense of welcome from the front desk. While the staff member was trying to locate our booking number, she said “麻烦死了” within earshot of us. I was quite taken aback and actually asked if she was referring to us, to which she laughed and said no. She may have been frustrated with the computer or booking system, but regardless of who or what the comment was directed at, I do not think this is appropriate to say in front of guests during check-in. The overall attitude simply did not feel like the level of hospitality I would expect from a hotel in this category.
What shocked me the most, however, was at the restaurant. The water jug being used at the coffee machine had very obvious orange-brown corrosion or buildup around the inner seam and spout, in an area that comes into contact with the water. I have attached photos because I think they speak for themselves. I cannot say exactly what the substance was, but seeing equipment used for drinking water in this condition was extremely concerning and immediately made me question the maintenance and hygiene standards of the beverage equipment.
The property itself may carry a five-star name and facilities, but service and maintenance are equally important parts of a five-star experience. Between the uncomfortable check-in experience and finding the coffee machine water jug in that condition, this stay fell well below what I expected.
I hope management takes the feedback seriously, particularly the condition of the beverage equipment and front desk service standards."

"Extremely satisfied! Although the price was a bit high, it was definitely worth it.
First, a special thanks to the short-haired female supervisor at the front desk. She was incredibly warm, patient, and thorough, answering every question we had. My daughter carelessly lost a jacket, and she actively helped us communicate and search for it, and it was eventually found (girls love beauty, and her favorite cosmetics were inside). Other hotel staff were also very welcoming; every staff member we encountered during our stay was able to answer our questions and seriously respond to all our inquiries.
Second, from the moment we entered the resort's reception center, there was always a dedicated hotel staff member guiding us. The most convenient aspect was that, apart from occasional self-funded activities, almost everything else had a dedicated guest channel. When you see the long queues of tourists at the actual sites, you'll realize how friendly and necessary this service is. It saves you a lot of time to enjoy other activities.
Then there's the dining. All three meals were included, and they weren't just some perfunctory, unknown drinks. The main dishes were also very diverse and abundant.
After a day of fun, you could return to the hotel and relax at the bar, enjoying free-flow drinks with a live musician.
Finally, the room wasn't huge, but it was compact and tidy. I had also looked up other hotels in the area at the time, and this one felt excellent. The evening party and fireworks on the island created an amazing atmosphere. Due to the weather, we couldn't experience stargazing in the desert or the sunrise over the sand dunes, or the desert hiking with sound, which was a slight regret.
If our later itinerary hadn't already been fully booked, we definitely would have stayed at this hotel for another two or three days. On the first day, we played at Xiansha Island, and on the second day, Yuansha Island.
In a word: Worth every penny. If your budget allows, I highly recommend this hotel."

"The room was very clean, but it was too bright in the morning to sleep in. I'd suggest they provide eye masks. The soundproofing was, understandably, not great since it's a tent. However, the desert scenery and the sand-sliding and digging right outside were absolutely worth it for a family trip. Overall, everything was good, and the butler was very responsive to any questions. If you're only staying one night at Yuesha Island, that's enough. If you've booked a room, I recommend just getting the basic ticket, as camel rides are extra but everything else is free, and the pool is right next to the hotel. I didn't realize this and bought a package, which was a waste of money. There are evening activities, and the hot pot is pre-packaged, while the BBQ is freshly grilled – it's not cheap, about 100 RMB per person. Overall, I still think it was a great experience."

"Not worth the value. ESP, if you don’t plan to travel with your own car.
Lack of amenities, food, and transportation. Hotel was unable to find a transport for us that left us stranded, we had to find our own way out as it was located within the National park -private area . Food was supposed to be pre-ordered, we tried to add some extra dishes more than 5 hours before dinner, still cannot be arranged for. They arranged a private dining area for our family, however did not clean up from previous guests, there were storage of old chairs and tissue paper lying around.
Hotel has no other facilities apart from the room itself and the cafe. No pool, spa/sauna or facilitators
Overall the room and view was nice, but it can be accessible without the stay."

The restaurant downstairs was incredibly popular for dinner; we couldn't get a table just by walking in – you need to book a day in advance, so we missed out on eating there. However, the hotel breakfast was fantastic, with a wide variety of delicious dishes!"

"I stayed at this hotel for two consecutive nights and it was really great. The night view of Kangbashi is absolutely beautiful, and the city is incredibly clean. The hotel itself has a strong sense of design, almost like a Hong Kong-style hotel. While the main entrance might not look as grand as traditional hotels, the hotel's attention to detail is excellent. I initially saw some online reviews saying the hotel was too dark and not clean enough, but I found it to be perfectly fine and didn't encounter any of those issues. The only minor drawback was that the window in the room I stayed in on the second night was a bit small. It was a little inconvenient for my child when doing homework at 9 PM. Later, I saw another room with a much larger window, so I swapped with my friend."

We stayed for three nights in total, and the overall experience was great. For the first two nights, since the standard rooms were fully booked, we opted for a queen room. On the third day, the hotel upgraded us to a family room, which was much bigger and our child absolutely loved it. The ladies at the front desk were incredibly patient with both check-ins and answering our questions. The cleanliness was impressive; we felt very comfortable staying there. Breakfast was also good, with a variety of vegetables and fruits, plus freshly cooked noodles, so there was plenty of choice. The location is very convenient, with many dining options nearby. Chain restaurants serving shaomai and Mongolian cuisine are just a few minutes' walk away, and it's also very easy to get a taxi to various attractions. Excellent value for money!

Breakfast was incredibly rich and varied; the lamb shaomai was particularly authentic, and the lamb offal soup was absolutely delicious – highly recommend both! What truly stood out was the genuine and professional service team. From the warm milk the housekeeping auntie discreetly replenished daily to the help with planning my travel itinerary, every little detail exuded a heartwarming, 'home-like' feeling. Upon check-out, the front desk even gave me a souvenir gift, a thoughtful gesture that instantly melted away any travel fatigue.
Xin Cheng Hotel isn't just a place to rest; it's a living cultural museum. It tells stories through its architecture, conveys local charm through its cuisine, and embodies warmth through its service. It allows every guest to experience the vastness and gentleness of Hohhot amidst the hustle and bustle.

I really enjoyed the charming courtyard setting; it felt very cozy and comfortable to stay in. We drove all the way from Ulanqab, and as we planned to visit Lvshuiliang the next day, we searched for nearby options and booked this guesthouse. It's a traditional rural-style courtyard, very clean and well-maintained. There weren't many other guests, and the room amenities were quite comprehensive.

Ahn KesthipI had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. During this trip, I stayed here for one night, spent one night elsewhere, and then returned for another two nights before flying back to Thailand.
The staff were incredibly helpful throughout my stay. After my first night, I accidentally left my power bank in the room. The reception team took the initiative to look for it, called me to let me know they had found it, and safely kept it until I returned.
On the day of my departure, I had to check out at 5:00 a.m. Unfortunately, the driver I had booked did not show up. The reception staff immediately stepped in and helped me call taxis until they successfully found one for me, making sure I could get to the airport on time.
I truly appreciate their kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help. The excellent service made my stay stress-free and memorable. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hohhot.
