💯💯💯 recommend Lindartun Guesthouse! Stayed here for 1 night on 1st October 2024 after our drive to Highlands and got here when it was already dark but i loved the drive to the junction from the main road to the guesthouse. It was pretty dark around the area which we thought we could be lucky for aurora sightings but it was cloudy. Luckily, I asked the owner when was the last aurora sighting at the guesthouse and she immediately opened her laptop and that’s when I found put there’s aurora forecast website in Iceland. She was the one that let us know there’s higher chance to spot aurora on the upcoming friday due to clear sky. Oh btw, for our check-in process, when I first arrived and entered the guesthouse, please take off your shoes by the entrance, and go to reception area infront of the kitchen and take the house phone to call the owner. We booked room no. 5 which cones with a sofa bed and the long toom was so cute and cozy. This is the cutest guesthouse room design among all 13 accoms across the country during our trip. I really loved it a lot as the room was long and spacious. The common dining area was really nice and big which I didn’t really spend time here. But I used the kitchen the next morning to boil hot water and make myself my hot chocolate and instant mushroom soup. Worth my money. Will book again if I visit Iceland again next time! Because I made an appointment to see the ice cave the next day, I found that it was only 46 kilometers away from the meeting point. Although I had to go back, the price was the most cost-effective, so I booked it. We didn’t arrive at Glacier Lagoon until 10 o’clock in the evening. After taking pictures, we arrived at the hotel at 11:30. I discovered that there is a large glacier behind the hotel. You can completely see it from the window of the room. When you were lying on the bed, you also found that there was a skylight on the roof. You could see it while lying on the bed. See the stars and auroras! The space is indeed a bit small (a common phenomenon in Icelandic hotels!), but despite its small size, it was fully equipped and we made dinner in the room. There is floor heating in the bathroom, which is very nice👍

Hótel Grímsborgir is absolutely fantastic! The location is super convenient, right next to the Golden Circle, making it easy to drive to all the attractions. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and each one has its own private hot tub or a shared one. Soaking in the hot tub and stargazing at night is incredibly therapeutic~ The breakfast spread is varied and fresh, and the staff are all very enthusiastic. I definitely want to stay here again on my next trip to Iceland! Highly recommended for self-driving travelers looking to relax!

We stayed at a hotel right next to Skógafoss, and you can drive directly into the Skógafoss parking lot, which makes access extremely convenient. We had two rooms with views of the mountains and the waterfall, which was truly special. The rooms were a little on the smaller side, but they were very clean and the beds were comfortable. A useful note: the cold water in the room is safe for drinking, while the hot water comes from natural hot springs (which may have a slight sulfur smell, as is common in Iceland). Breakfast had a smaller selection, but the taste and quality were good. I would also recommend trying the hotel restaurant at least once during your stay—the food was quite enjoyable. We were fortunate to catch the northern lights on both nights. On the first night, there was a strong, dancing aurora (around KP 6–7 / G3 storm) right outside the hotel in the parking area. On the second night (around KP 3), I woke up in the middle of the night and was still able to capture it on my phone despite some light pollution from the hotel. One small thing to note is that the main entrance doors close after 11 PM, so we had to use the side entrance when returning late at night.

The good: - Breakfast was very good! - Room and bed was warm. - hot water shower works almost instantly. - Netflix and Amazon Prime available on the TV. Can be improved: - toilet slide door emited loud screeching sound which was annoying. - poor sound isolation between floors, we stayed on the ground floor and we could hear stomping the whole night. We feedback this to the hotel staff but was just given a “I cannot do anything about it” face and a shoulder shrug which clearly indicated they did not have the intention to do anything about it. - phone in the room was not working, staff had to reboot it as they said it’s a common issue. - the air vent in the bathroom stopped moving after sometime, was told to turn it off and on again to make it work again. - we checked in the same time as another couple at the reception, we overheard that they got a complementary room upgrade from the standard room (same as us). We asked if we would be upgraded as well, staff just told us that it depends on the amount we paid for the room. But clearly we booked the same standard room? Overall: Room rate was on the high side and much was expected but the condition of the room and service were under delivered.

If you're planning a trip along Iceland's South Coast, Black Beach Suites in Vík is an absolute must-stay. This boutique aparthotel exceeded all our expectations and was undoubtedly the highlight of our Ring Road adventure. The location is simply unbeatable. Perched with panoramic sea views, it's just a 5-minute drive from the world-famous Reynisfjara black sand beach. The views from our suite were spectacular. The suites themselves are beautifully designed, spacious, and impeccably clean. Ours featured a modern, luxurious feel, large windows to take in the scenery, and a very comfortable bed. The heated floors in the spacious bathroom were a welcome luxury during the cold night. A standout feature was the fully-equipped kitchen. Having the flexibility to prepare our own meals (with utensils, pots, and a microwave) was a huge plus, especially after a long day of exploring. Overall, Black Beach Suites offers incredible value. The combination of a prime location, stylish and clean rooms, and excellent facilities makes it the perfect base for exploring the South Coast. We highly recommend booking well in advance, as it's a popular choice for good reason. We can't wait to return!

We have a 1 night stay at Midgard Camp during our 9 days road trip in Iceland. It is our 2nd stop hotel of our trip. Though the room are not big, but it is comfortable, good and cosy enough for all. The family rooms comes with 1 double bed plus 1 bunk bed enough for all 4 of us. The whole place is very vibrant, friendly staff, nicely decorated and energetic yet peaceful and quiet for individual enjoyment. The whole place is very well maintained and It is very clean even the common toilet as I bathe there to avoid waiting for our private toilet to save some time. The common kitchen is for all guests and is well equipped. We cooked our hot meal as well as breakfast there. We can also enjoy the complementary coffee/tea from the hotel paid breakfast. Overall, We enjoy our stay there even though it is just 1 night. The location is easily found with the GPS, you wouldn't miss it. Highly recommended this place. Also, really appreciate the friendly staff giving us a round tour of the place explaining where are the common toilet, hot bathe tub, dryer for our swim wear should we use the hot bathe tub and sauna. This is indeed exceed our expectation actually. 10/10!

The scenery is excellent. At the foot of a mountain, there should be a hut for watching the aurora. It's a pity that we didn't see the aurora during the summer. The location is not far from Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss and Vik Black Beach. You can choose here for these three attractions. The facilities in the house are very new, and the heating is turned on in advance. Icelanders really don't know how to promote it. A good house looks like a rough house in photos. The housekeeper didn't speak English well, but he still communicated clearly. Other comments are helpful. To get the password, you can keep calling until they answer the phone. If that doesn't work, you can try your luck on the spot. You will see the women cleaning up the house working nearby.

We had a fantastic stay at North Star Cottages. The cottage was clean and well appointed. We arrived to a warm, snug cabin after a day of walking in the rain, and it had everything we needed for a short one night stay. We were a family of four and we brought food to prepare. The kitchen had everything to cook, eat, and wash up. Beds were comfy and the shower was hot. Really great place.

This Hotel provided us with a fantastic stay. It is clean, the staff are very attentive but not overbearing. Our room was very clean, but there were a couple of small drawbacks. There was a small desk, but no wardrobe for clothes. It would have served better to do away with the desk and provide somewhere to unpack our cases and hang clothes. My wife and I lived out of our suitcases for the duration. Also, there didn't seem to be any ground-floor rooms and there was not a lift. So, I think this would be unsuitable for guests in wheelchairs or severe difficulties with stairs (it would be wise to contact the Hotel directly to confirm this if you are in this position). The food was excellent and quite well priced for Iceland ( food and drink in Iceland is NOT cheap ). Overall, we both enjoyed our stay very much and would gladly book again. Hotel, staff and food were all 100%.
