Have stayed here multiple times and great location. Needs a huge upgrade and could use a deep cleaning. But we slept good. Lobby is still closed to the public. Open up your lobby and offer breakfast options even if you have to raise your prices some.

Don't equate price with quality! Often, travelers think that inexpensive = dumpy/sketchy/run-down accommodations; this motel destroys that notion--it was an awesome place to stay The motel is in an older part of town that is more industrial than retail/touristy. It didn't appear to be part of any chain and so I was a bit hesitant to book but it turned out to be a great place to stay. We stayed in the newer part of the motel. The room was spacious, extremely clean and very quiet. I appreciated having a refrigerator and the air conditioning worked great, helping keep us cool when we'd been in the hot outdoors and when sleeping at night. There is no breakfast available but most breakfasts at hotels are overrated anyway. We stayed here two nights and were completely satisfied with everything. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you to owners and staff for offering the best lodging we encountered on our vacation!

We just wanted a cheap place to sleep before we headed to the Cosmosphere and salt mine. We typically like to patronize independently owned operations of all kinds. I find trip advisor to be very reliable information. With that said this is in fact a 2 star motel with a 2 rating at best. We wanted a lower level room they only had 2 doubles. The woman said we could have that room for the same rate as a queen ”IF you do not use the other bed.” That was a first, we should have just peeled out at that point. The pool has been filled in, they should at least grow some veggies in there. The general exterior is what you would expect for a 2. The room was not exceptionally clean. The bed was horrible, sheets pilly, flat pillows and just plain bad. Water was hot. Towels were not absorbent. We had trouble locating an outlet to charge electronics. We saw the management taking photos from the walkway inyo a room? Which seemed strange. I understand that this is new management but they have a long row to hoe.

If you give a mouse a cookie… I stayed her in February for my daughters gymnastics meet. Entering the rooms I noticed that things are outdated but they’re not terrible rooms. HOWEVER, in the middle of the night I kept hearing rustling sounds that I couldn’t decipher if I was just imagining things or if it was the rain outside. I attempted to sleep through it, my girls woke me at 5am to say they heard it to. I tried to get them to sleep more but around 6am I saw a MOUSE running into my grocery sack of snacks! Immediate panic from my kids. I rushed to get our things packed leaving the chewed through package of cookies the mouse got and that’s when I noticed droppings in the drawers and under the sink. I got my kids ready and we headed to breakfast. I told the front desk about my encounter (which I learned later was the manager herself) and got “I’m sorry” this didn’t sit well with me and I told a friend who took it upon herself to do something. A few moments later the “manager” comes and slams a receipt down for a $15 refund being extremely rude saying I could have said something when it happened and they would have switched me rooms. How? Your office closes at 10pm as I was told, and do you expect me to carry 3 sleeping children to a different room in a town I’m not familiar with? I will never stay here again!! Had this been handled nicer than the rude attacking attitude I received I wouldn’t of even considered leaving reviews. Needless to say don’t stay here unless you like mice and disrespect staff.

The hotel is good and the stay was pleasant. Location is little isolated but calm. The hotel is remodeled and it was really nice inside the rooms. The staff was good and the color ambience was really so great .

I was blewn off the interstate due to high winds and snowy, slick roads. I recovered my truck from the ditches of I-70, got my truck pointed in the right direction again, and was prepared for a long, icy night on an off ramp in central KS. My only hope was a hotel in Ellsworth that was booked up but promised to call if anyone dropped their reservation. As I layered up in spare clothes, reclined my chair, and mentally strategized how I’d use the remaining fuel for heat, I got a call from an unknown KS number. It was Best Value Inn in Ellsworth! They had a room! I reserved the room and headed that way, cautiously monitoring my speed. My visibility along the old Highway 40 route was hardly 10 feet in front of me. Snow and dirt from the old road swirled in a never ending cascade of dancing visual obstructions that seemed to move without relevance to the laws of gravity! Behind the seemingly benevolent and seductive dance, the evil sirens conspired to lead me to a ditch along the rural highway! I maintained course. My Maps navigation app pointed to my North Star, the Ellsworth Best Value Inn. As the app mileage ticked closer, I kept waiting for catastrophe. A bridge that may be iced over where my truck would again lose control. Or an icy culvert with a particularly steep ditch that promised to finally test the dexterity of my trusty old Chevy pickup. When the artificial voice of navigation finally said “turn right and you have reached your destination” the sign said “Americas Best Value Inn” but all I read was “Sanctuary.” I parked my car in front of the Value Inn’s front desk and walked through its pearly gates of safety and security. I approached the front desk to wait for an opportunity to speak to the front desk attendant. Another refugee from the interstate was checking in. I noticed their OK plates. She explained how Americas Best Value Inn had saved her from the mayhem of the interstate. We wished each other safe travels and then it was my turn. I could finally speak to my savior at the front desk. My Saint Peter was a middle aged Indian man. He stood behind a desk with a plexiglass window and a miniature Indian flag planted in a small bowl or rice colored in layers of saffron, white, and dark green. I thanked him profusely for a room in his heavenly shelter and we discussed the storm. I was so humbled that my Peter had engaged me in idle chatter even if it was really just about the weather! Peter answered several calls from lost souls abandoned in the chaos of the storm. “I’m sorry we have no rooms available,” he said in his Indian accent with a deified tone. He showed me how my key card accessed the pearly gates. And also the WiFi password. I parked my trusty old pickup, scanned my key card, and walked through the pearly columns enclosing my sanctuary. My shelter from the storm. My home. However the guy next to my room is snoring rather loud and I can hear him through the wall. So there’s that.
