A summer Escape
#summerresorts Furong Town, nestled in the heart of Hunan Province, is an idyllic summer retreat that offers a perfect escape from the heat. Known for its stunning waterfalls and well-preserved Tujia culture, Furong Town combines natural beauty with a rich cultural heritage. As I arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the breathtaking sight of the Furong Waterfall cascading down the cliffs, its misty spray offering a refreshing coolness in the warm summer air. The sound of the water rushing over the rocks was soothing, creating an atmosphere of tranquility that immediately put me at ease.
Wandering through the town, I was charmed by its traditional wooden stilt houses that line the river, reflecting the local Tujia architecture. The narrow streets were filled with the aroma of local delicacies and the vibrant colors of handicrafts, offering a glimpse into the everyday life of the Tujia people. Despite its popularity, Furong Town retains a peaceful, laid-back vibe, making it an ideal place to relax and soak in the beauty of summer in a setting that feels both timeless and untouched by the modern world. Furong Town truly embodies the essence of a perfect summer resort, where nature and culture blend seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience.

Furong Town | A Chaotic Wonderland of Management
| A Chaotic Wonderland of Management. D1: Arrive at Furong Town Station in the afternoon - Furong Town Night View - Furong Town Performance
D2: Furong Town - You Shui Gallery - Red Stone Forest - High-speed Train
· Specialty dishes: Blood Rice Duck, Cured Meat, Duck Feet with Wild Vegetables, Rice Cake
----Furong Town----
· The town is very small, and it can be completely explored in 3h. The rock jumping above the waterfall is not open at night, but the path that goes behind the waterfall at the bottom is open all day.
· The scenery of the waterfall town is quite unique, and it's great for photography. At Shenpu Camp Square, you can see the full view of the waterfall.
· Apart from the scenery, there is nothing good, the management is quite chaotic. Regarding how to buy boat tickets, 3 staff members all gave different information.
· In addition, historical and cultural sites such as the Tusi King's Mansion, Xizhou Copper Pillar, and Tusi Temple were all closed, it's unclear what the scenic area is thinking.
----You Shui Gallery----
· You can only buy boat tickets for You Shui Gallery, a one-way trip takes 1h to reach the Red Stone Forest, after visiting the Red Stone Forest, you can take a ferry bus back to Furong Town in 30min.
· Furong Town was a city during the Qin and Han dynasties, also known as Youyang. With the help of You Shui, it was connected to Sichuan and Guizhou in the north and Dongting Lake in the south, earning the reputation of 'Chu-Shu Thoroughfare'. You can take a boat to revisit the ancient route.
· If you're lucky, you can see little monkeys chasing the boats along the shore during the journey. But the scenery can become monotonous beyond that.
----Red Stone Forest----
· Worth visiting for those interested in geology. The park development is very interesting, with towering red carbonate rock formations divided into upper and lower layers for exploration, including stone forests, canyons, and caves, among other landforms. And these are just the tip of the iceberg of the once Ordovician seabed.
· On the surface of the rocks in the park, and on the floor tiles, you can also see fossils of marine creatures such as hornstones.
· The 60rmb guide was slacking off the whole time, the promised 1.5h tour was cut down to 40min, making for a very poor experience.
· The return time of the shuttle bus was much earlier than what the scenic area staff said, 30min earlier, making it impossible to fully explore the park.
----Ticket Purchase----
· There are 3 types of tickets:
1. Furong Town ticket valid for 2 days
2. Furong Town ticket valid for 2 days + Red Stone Forest ticket
3. Furong Town ticket valid for 2 days + You Shui Gallery boat ticket + Red Stone Forest ticket
· Ticket 2 is suitable for self-driving or shuttle bus; ticket 3 includes a 1h boat trip to the Red Stone Forest, and a 30min ferry bus back to Furong Town.
· It is recommended to get it all at once, otherwise, it will cost much more to buy tickets later.
· During the May 1st holiday, boats are only dispatched 3 times a day, you need to go to the tourist center to get the schedule in advance to avoid missing it.
----Performance----
· There are multiple performances in Furong Town every day, all free of charge. After seeing the performance in Zhangjiajie, the performances in Furong Town, whether it's the setting, choreography, or actors, are all a big step down.

• Chartered/Shared Ride: For travelers seeking comfort and flexibility, you can choose a chartered or shared ride service, directly from the airport or train station to Furong Town, more worry-free.
Furong Town, a secret garden where time slows down, awaits every traveler to listen to her story with heart, to feel the beauty that has been tenderly treated by the years. Here, every stop is a conversation with history, every breath is a blend of nature and culture.

Furongzhen
Getting to Furongzhen is easy enough though requires several steps if you don't have your own cae. Coming from Zhangjiajie we took a Didi, the high speed rail and then a taxi to the town. You then have to do the reverse to get back. We actually had to have someone call us a taxi from the scenic area since they aren't readily available and there aren't Didi's there.
The attraction itself is pretty great. There are a few hiking trails and the one under the waterfall is pretty cool. We also hiked along the cliffs for a great view of the town and waterfall. There are countless restaurants and shops so you could probably spend the whole day there if you we're into that sort of thing, though be ready to pay for it!
Foreigners need there passports to enter but it's easy enough otherwise. We have an 8 month old and brought our striller which was a mistake since there are lots and lots of stairs. If you have a little one I'd suggest bring some kind of baby carrier.
Overall, a worthwhile daytrip from Zhangjiajie.#furongzhen #daytrip

Furongzhen - Magical Waterfall Village
Getting There - go to the bus terminal in Zhangjiajie. buy the ticket and wait for the next available bus. It costs around ¥30 and takes around 2 hours. Wear your seatbelt - it’s a bumpy ride. Sitting in the bus is a beautiful way to observe rural farms and natural China mountain scenery.
Attractions - you are required to buy the ticket to enter the scenic town. There’s a waterfall you can walk under, you can ride the boat, you can find a restaurant with a beautiful view. There’s even an outdoor cinema. Choose the things you like. You can do everything in one or two days.
Hotels - the hotels inside the tourist area are more expensive. If you don’t mind walking for 10-15 minutes you can get a pretty cheap room on the main road before entering the water villiage. If you prefer luxury - try to find the hotel with the good view. There is good availability and many places to choose from.
Food & Restaurants - many restaurants here serve delicious Hunan dishes. Try to find the place to eat where you can see the waterfall and enjoy fresh fish from the river. Delicious!
Shopping - there are lots of little shops to buy souvenirs, cold drinks or ice cream. Good quality local goods.

There is a forest park in Yongshun County, Xiangxi, Hunan, which is worth a visit.
Bu Ermen Forest Park is located on the bank of Mengdong River, 1.5 km south of Yongshun County, with a total area of 30 square kilometers. It is the northern gate of Mengdong River Scenic Area. It features Shiqi, hot springs, stone carvings, and Guanyin worship. The limestone, lotus pond, and eight-figure maps of limestone dissolution are regarded as the magical work of nature. The
TV series "Oolong Mountain" and "Xiangxi Yuji" were filmed here.
Buddhid Forest Park has a variety of large karst stones, and different stones are spliced into different shapes. Looking up at the sky, the sky is sometimes wide, sometimes narrow and into a line of days. Walking through the stone array, the aroma of the vegetation is refreshing. When I was tired, Xiao Yan closed her eyes and raised her spirits, but she heard the empty mountain birds and the heart entered a world of incomparable purity.
Bu Ermen Forest Park is the first national forest park to receive the authorization of the China National Forest Park. It is also one of the Buddhist resorts in Hunan Province. The word "not the second" is a Buddhist term, which is derived from the "Buddhist Dictionary", meaning no difference between each other.
Two Gate Forest Park has a stone forest with a set of strange rocks. It is unpredictable, and the narrow roads are intertwined. When you go up and down, you can go to the left and right, and you can drill through the holes.
Walk through the forest trails, you can often see the waves on the large stones. This is the wonder that nature has created in countless years, mainly manifested by the erosion of natural phenomena such as rain and wind.
Recommended tour time: half a day
special advice: easy to get lost in the park, it is best to have a tour guide.

Lao Sicheng Zu Shi Dian is located in the southern section of Taiping Taiping, built in the second year of the post-Jin Tianfu (AD 937), rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty. The main hall column is surrounded by large numbers, and there are no axe chisel marks on the raft. It is said that it was built by Luban Xianling. The
Lao Sicheng site is located on the banks of the Lingxi River, 19.5 km east of Yongshun County. It is the capital of the Pengshi Tusi regime in Guxi. It was built in the 5th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1135), abandoned in the second year of Qing Emperor Yongzheng (AD 1724), returning to the soil and returning to the stream, after nine generations of Houliang, Houtang, Houjin, Houhan, Houzhou, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasty. With more than 600 years of prosperous history, during the heyday, three thousand households in the city, eight hundred outside the city, the giant town of Wuxi, the border town of Wanli is one of the largest toasts in the southwestern part of China. There are a large number of historical and cultural relics and Tujia customs and cultural relics in the site of the
