This eco-farm is loved by both the elderly and children
During a trip to Yanqing, I unexpectedly discovered an eco-farm that both the elderly and children love. This is Beijing Hemu Runfeng Eco-Farm.
This farm is located 200 meters east of the Xikang Checkpoint in Yulinbao Village, Kangzhuang Town, Yanqing. It is very close to Kangxi Grassland, Wild Duck Lake, Badaling Great Wall, Chadao City, World Horticultural Expo, Yulinbao Ancient Post Station, Songshan Forest Farm, Juyongguan Great Wall, Guyaju, Winter Olympic Village, Longqing Gorge, and Yudushan Scenic Area. The farthest is more than 30 kilometers away, and the nearest attraction is only about 5 kilometers away. Therefore, it is very suitable to visit here after sightseeing, or to stay, pick vegetables, and enjoy delicious food.
What attracts children to this eco-farm is the small zoo, which has chickens, ducks, rabbits, geese, alpacas, ponies, lambs, peacocks, and more. The enthusiastic geese, upon hearing the children's voices, immediately waddle up, quacking non-stop. The alpacas quietly walk up to the visitors, eyes full of longing...
What catches the eyes of the elderly are the corn, vegetables, sweet potatoes, and medicinal food plants harvested from the fields. Speaking of medicinal food plants, the staff of the eco-farm enthusiastically told us about its history: The medicinal food plant looks very much like lettuce leaves and is a hybrid. Its paternal lineage is called Jinbuhuan (a local medicinal food plant, commonly known as ox tongue leaf. There is a touching and beautiful legend about why ox tongue leaf is called Jinbuhuan), and its maternal lineage is a large-leaved plant from Europe widely used in daily life, medicine, and livestock called "Rumex." In the mid-1990s, China introduced this plant mainly as feed for military horses. Unexpectedly, perhaps due to acclimatization issues, the horses rejected it due to its bitter taste. Later, scientists crossbred it with Yanqing's "Jinbuhuan," giving it new life, resulting in today's "medicinal food plant."
The successfully developed medicinal food plant is rich in dozens of nutrients needed by the human body and has multiple uses such as improving anemia, lowering lipids, and reducing blood pressure. It is a medicinal food plant. The eco-farm, under the premise of large-scale planting, introduced this plant into the food field. Fresh leaf juice, instant noodles, dried noodles, rice, tea, biscuits, and other medicinal food plant series products are loved by consumers.
The farm's "medicinal food plant feast" attracts many tourists to taste. There is a complete set of recipes with a reasonable combination of main and side dishes of medicinal food plants. People get to know the medicinal food plant and its health benefits here.
The farm's sun tatami is also a popular choice for many tourists to stay. The sun tatami is similar to the large kang commonly seen in northern rural areas, but with a wooden structure. A family or three to five friends lie together, chatting about everything under the sun, discussing ancient and modern times, enjoying themselves, and feeling very comfortable. A trip to Yanqing is truly eye-opening.
