Helicopter Views, Boat Vibes, and Whitehaven Bliss!
Had an amazing day on the Whitsunday Islands + Whitehaven Beach + Hill Inlet Day Tour + Flight with OceanRafting from Airlie Beach. Highly recommend it! The pick-up was on time, and we started the day with a scenic helicopter ride over the Great Barrier Reef. I especially loved when the pilot counted down as we approached the Heart Reef—it was breathtaking!
After the flight, we were taken to the water cruise where the fun began with snorkeling. Wet suits, snorkels, fins, and either a noodle foam or life jacket were provided. The crew was so patient, especially with anyone who wasn’t comfortable in the water.
We then enjoyed some thrilling rides between spots with pump-up music blasting—it really added to the excitement! After that, we did a short trek to Hill Inlet, offering stunning views of Whitehaven Beach from three platforms. The different shades of blue were incredible. I spent a bit too much time on the platform and didn’t get to take as many photos at Betty’s Beach, but the white sand and clear waters with fish swimming around were unforgettable!
We had about an hour and a half to enjoy Whitehaven Beach—not as stunning as Betty’s Beach, but the white sands and beautiful surroundings made it perfect. All in all, such a fun and well-organized tour!

Whitsundays, Queensland, Australia
Hill inlet
#australiatrip Hill Inlet is a stunning natural feature located on Whitsunday Island in Queensland, Australia. Renowned for its breathtaking turquoise waters and swirling sands, the inlet is part of the larger Whitsunday Islands National Park. The unique tides create mesmerizing patterns in the sand, making it a popular spot for photography and sightseeing. Hill Inlet is accessible by boat and is often visited as part of tours to Whitehaven Beach, offering a spectacular view of the surrounding coral reefs and pristine landscapes.
The views are breathtakingly beautiful. The ever-shifting, pure white sands and turquoise blue, waters were so special. Apparently the unique colours are caused by suspended particles of sand that diffuse the sunlight and cause the water to take on such striking colours.
The day we went, was a little overcast so we weren’t even there on the best day. Even so, it was unlike any other view I’d seen before and without a doubt, worth it.
Whitehaven Beach 🇦🇺🦘🐨
#Whitehaven Beach in #Australia is renowned for its unparalleled beauty, and my visit exceeded all expectations! Arriving by boat added to the allure, as the anticipation built with each passing moment. Stepping onto its shores was like stepping into a postcard, with pristine white sand stretching for miles and crystal-clear turquoise waters gently lapping the shore. The contrast of colors was simply breathtaking, and the tranquility of the surroundings was palpable. It was a surreal experience, one that left me in awe of the natural wonders of the world.
Queensland's Most Beautiful Island: Whitehaven Beach
Whitehaven Beach is Australia's most beautiful island beach and also the most worth visiting hidden gem of the Whitsunday Islands!
►Transportation Options:
One is GSL Aviation's speedboat, and the other is Air Whitsunday's seaplane. Compared to the latter, the former is more economical and provides snorkeling equipment for underwater activities
►Itinerary:
- Whitehaven Beach
- Snorkeling in nearby waters (the captain will choose the most suitable snorkeling spot based on the actual weather conditions)
- Hill Inlet Lookout
►Overall Experience
1. Beach
▪ Captain Dave is a standard Australian blonde hunk, especially amiable, always with a smile on his face. According to the crew, he drives the boat during the day and insists on going to the gym after work, no wonder he's in such good shape!
▪ Australia has the most beaches in the world. If you visit one each day, it would take 30 years to see them all! Whitehaven Beach has over 70 islands, and we will be visiting the main island, where the water is so clear that it rivals the purity of Ko Olina Beach on Oahu Island, Hawaii!
▪ The Silic Sand here is super fine, so fine that it can be used to exfoliate the skin! However, it is prohibited to take the sand away, so everyone should follow the rules!
▪ GSL also offers Stand-up Paddle Boards. If you've never tried it, no worries, you can stand, kneel, or lie down on it.
2. Snorkeling
▪ After enjoying lunch, the captain took us to a nearby area for snorkeling. The snorkeling spot is not fixed each day, as the captain will decide where it is safe to snorkel based on the day's tide.
▪ If you can't participate in snorkeling due to physical reasons or other inconveniences, I recommend a great spot: the speedboat's rooftop! It's the best place to enjoy the sun and the beach atmosphere, remember to apply enough sunscreen and bring a towel!
3. Lookout
▪ The last stop is the Hill Inlet Lookout, where you will need to walk a short distance through the jungle after landing.
▪ From here, you can get a close-up view of the 'marbling' seen from the air in the morning! This can only be seen when the tide is low, and the mix of blue sea and white sand creates a different picture every day, marveling at the wonders of nature!
▪ Returning from the lookout, it's around 4 pm, a day full of rich and fulfilling experiences!
►Tips:
You can see whales in the waters of the Whitsunday Islands during the months of July, August, and September. This period is winter in Australia, when the ocean currents slow down, so the visibility of the water is high, making June to October the best travel season.
