2024 Uruma Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in December)

Many friends asked me, which island to go to have fun? I have not counted how many times Okinawa, but every time there are new discoveries! Because Okinawa's warm and humid natural conditions are particularly suitable for the cultivation of orchids, we have opened our eyes in the center of the garden and have never seen so many varieties of orchids so beautiful. It has the largest production farm and direct store in Okinawa. These orchids come from all over the world, and there are all kinds of orchids. The pollen who loves orchids suggests picking some orchid seeds back before leaving. It is definitely worth it. In the hills of the BIOS, in addition to leisurely walks, you can also choose to take a lake cruise in the park's Dalongchi or take a buffalo car for a leisurely trip. TIPS

Iha Park with Slides

#okinawatrip Great park & playground. The big orange slide goes super fast so if you let your small toddler go up by themselves wait to catch them at the bottom 😉. Kids love the red hammock swings, this park seems busy so if the want to use the swings have them start waiting in line when there's a lot of kids waiting. The paved path goes all around the park which is great for jogging or stroller jogging.

Gushikawa Beach

#okinawatrip Quiet neighborhood beach. No amenities. The locals are proactive about trying to keep the beach clean washed up trash. The nearby power plant has warmed the waters so the seaweed and algae grows very thick here. When it’s extreme low tide, it doesn’t smell the greatest because of the dried seaweed. Great place to watch sunrise or east coast sunset or read a book. Not really a beach to spend the day swimming at though.

Beautiful Castle Ruins

#okinawatrip Beautiful castle ruins, and amazing views overlooking the ocean and city. The museum show was great addition after visiting the castle. Great way to spend a couple of hours. Inexpensive ticket for entry and plenty of parking. The museum at the beginning is very cool and contains loads of interactive information. The walk up to the ruins is beautiful and seeing everything up close was amazing. The view at the top is gorgeous, if you're in the area I highly recommend stopping by.

Kyan Merv Patk

#okinawatrip This is a park located on a hill built around Kyanbu Castle.The park has historical sites, an observation deck, tennis courts, basketball courts, and children's play equipment (slides). There is a promenade, but there are ups and downs, so walking was a good exercise (lol). There are many trees, and you can also catch insects such as cicadas. The public toilets were old and some parts were damaged, but the toilet paper was replenished. There are also two parking lots, so I think it's a good idea to drive there and visit.

Bios Hill

#okinawatrip An Okinawa must do! So much fun playing in the park, riding the boat, and just enjoying the scenery. I went with a few others and we had an absolute blast running around and seeing everything. Truly a beautiful area and I recommend everyone stop by if you're in the area!Amazing place to go and see more of nature. Great flowers and they even have a little petting zoo. Some places are stroller friendly.

Konbu Park

#okinawatrip It's a small local park. The equipment is well used but in safe condition. There's also a baseball field, courts, and large grass area for frisbee or other activities. Not overly crowded, so it's a good place for a quick park excursion. There are two parking lots. One next to the blue slide has 6 spots and the one next to the restrooms has about 12 spots there. Has a bathroom.

Bios hill

#okinawatrip Bios hill is a good place to explore specially if you have kids. It is pretty big so you need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and it’s probably best to go on cooler times of the day or bring an umbrella. Good points: I recommend going on a kayak adventure if the weather is nice! The kayak adventure was a good experience and 2 people can ride a kayak which may be good for couples or families. You can choose to bring your camera but be careful of the water. Your bag will be kept safe in a locker provided once you pay for kayaking. You can also bring a waterproof case for your phone just in case you have and you wanna take some pictures. Food: The cafe inside served really good pancake (I ordered sweet potato or benimo pancake with ice cream). It was worth the price (around 650 yen) and the pancake was really photogenic. Pricing: Entrance fee for Bios hill is a little bit expensive (please check website for current pricing) but because it is well maintained and huge I would recommend it for couples who like nature or families with young children who want to see some animals and nature as well.

I went with a few others and we had an absolute blast running around and seeing everything. Truly a beautiful area and I recommend everyone stop by if you're in the area! What a beautiful place! Great for families! We took a wagon ride pulled by a water buffalo, and at the end of the ride, the driver let my boys come down and hold on to the rope and “lead” the water buffalo! So kind of this man to let them do this, I wish I knew his name! I am so grateful my boys got this cool experience! There’s also beautiful flora, nature trails, dragon topiaries, a cool wooden playground, observation decks, boat rides, giant swings, and a gift shop with very unique toys. We can’t wait to come back.

Bios Hill

#thingstodo Big and interesting park with many hidden nooks. The boat ride is included in the price (3000 yen for an adult, free for kids until 4). During the ride the guide shows interesting plants and tells jokes but only in Japanese. The stamp rally with the quize is also in japanese. You can borrow a stroller for free but there are a lot of places where is impossible to get with a stroller. Food for goats is 100 yen. There isa small cafe on the territory with soba, tacoyaki and ice cream. Good place for kids

Amazing hidden Gem Hotel in Okinawa

#thingstodo An amazing hotel that exists in Okinawa , it was really good and beyond expectations . The hotel has perfect Seaview inside the room, it’s so beautiful and healing . The breakfast was really great in the morning m. The room was spacious and the bathroom is modern. There is a stair walking to the beach , and you could spend most of the time by the beach.
