1. The winter in Shanxi is very cold. In the past, the southern part must bring thick clothes. The temperature difference between morning and evening is large, and some warm babys are also prepared.
2. The local climate is relatively dry, with a thermos cup, drink plenty of water, and more moisturizing, girls remember to apply a mask every day to sleep, afraid of sand with a mask.
3. The attractions of Shanxi are scattered. If you are free, you should study the trains in advance, don't delay the trip, and find a place to contact the company.
4. Self-driving tourists should not let strangers take a ride for any reason. If you drive to Wutai Mountain, please pay attention to slow travel. The individual road sections are narrow, pay attention to the horns, and you must not slide in the air.
5. In winter, 95% of hotels in Wutaishan are closed, and only a few hotels are open for business. Therefore, there is little room for choice in the hotel, especially when there are few rooms available on weekends. To choose those large hotels, the occupancy rate is high and the heating supply is sufficient.
6. Datongs restaurants catering time ends relatively early. It usually ends at 1 o'clock at noon and ends at 8 o'clock in the evening. Pay attention to the meal time while playing.
7. There are professional tour guides near Yungang Grottoes, and there are also commentators for rent. You need to pay a certain deposit. In the case of tour guides or commentators, the visit to Yungang Grottoes will be deeper, and the scenic spots will be more There is an extra charge for visiting a tram.
8. No-flying aircraft are forbidden in the Yingmu County and Yungang Grottoes. Due to the protection of ancient buildings, everyone must be sure.

This street is amazing at night, no bad shops, highly recommend the noodles and spicy hot pot at the entrance, and the old-fashioned fried skewers!
2️⃣nd Stop: Ying County
Must-visit: Yingxian Wooden Pagoda 🏯
Drove 6 hours for the pure mortise and tenon structure of Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (complained about the surrounding facilities in the previous note) The pagoda itself is very impressive, even if you can't climb it, you will admire the wisdom of the ancients at the base, truly a masterpiece! The sense of history is very touching.
Make sure you have enough time, reserve a day to come here (the scenic area closes at 6:30 pm) It's not safe to return at night❗
3️⃣rd Stop: Datong
Must-visit 1: Huayan Temple
The murals are exquisite, perfect for photos! (But there are too many people in line) Many friends say the essence is deeper inside, but I didn't have time to go this time!
Must-visit 2: Yungang Grottoes
The "Grottoes Area" inside is really impressive, you can also high-five the "Internet-famous Buddha"~ (Many local friends highly recommend the music cave inside, but I didn't have time to go), reserve a day for Yungang Grottoes!
This Shanxi trip was a bit unsatisfying due to time constraints and holiday peak season, I must come back in the off-season to truly experience the culture and history~ (Still afraid of transportation, see previous note for details🤣)

Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Xuankong Temple in Hunyuan.
Shanxi Trip: Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Xuankong Temple || The weather was nice and cool. The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is a true wonder, but it has been leaning for decades. This is because a leader in the 1980s decided to replace the wooden walls on each floor with wooden lattice windows, which caused the pagoda to lean due to different wind pressures. I also thought of some recent renovations that have turned beauty into ugliness and destroyed the real to create the fake. I hope the leaders who don't know what they're doing will leave our few remaining historical treasures alone. When I arrived at Xuankong Temple, the sky was full of auspicious clouds. I climbed the steps along the cliff and couldn't help but admire the wisdom and perseverance of the ancients.

The date of construction of Tiantai Nunnery is unknown. Some say it was built at the end of the Tang Dynasty, and others say it was built during the Five Dynasties. It is the earliest surviving Buddhist temple of the Tiantai Sect of Buddhism. Now only the main hall and a stone tablet remain. The beam structure and brackets of the main hall have a Tang Dynasty style.

100 Ways of Travel in Shanxi: Step Into Miracle
#100WaysOfTravel
The history of Shanxi Province dates back more than 3,000 years. The main industries are coal mining, metallurgy, mechanical engineering and chemical industry. Convenient transport links make it easy to get to any part of the province: not only by air, but also by land transport. The main tourist attractions are the Chongshan Temple (or Temple of Worship of the Goddess), Jin Temple, the Monastery of Eternal Happiness, Yungang Grottoes, the Aerial Temple (or Temple on Mount Hengshan) and the Wutaishan Mountains.
Datong is an ancient city with a history dating back more than 2,400 years. It has a rich cultural heritage: the famous city, famous monasteries, pagodas, grottoes and famous frescoes.
The Wutaishan Mountains are one of the four most famous Buddhist treasures in China. They are no less popular than the Emeishan Mountains in Sichuan, Putoshan in Zhejiang and Jiahuashan in Anhui Province. The mountains are formed by five table-shaped peaks: Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern and Central. The territory inside this ring is called Inner Wutaishan, and beyond it is Outer Wutaishan.
Hukou Waterfalls are the second largest in China. The length of the waterfalls is 30 m, and the water falls from a height of 20 m. They are located on the border of Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces. Waterfalls formed where the Yellow River passes through a narrow gorge.
Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi Province, as well as one of the centers of heavy industry in China.
Taiyuan has existed for more than 2,500 years, so there are a huge number of cultural monuments and ancient buildings around it. Despite the fact that it is the center of heavy and chemical industries, ancient structures such as the Double Tower of the Ming Era and the Tianlongshan Caves can be found here. Here you can get acquainted with Chinese folklore and taste noodles known throughout China.

Baqian Gorge Travel Guide
I drove to visit Baqian Gorge in Changzhi, Shanxi, and now I am sharing the guide for those who want to go in the future. Although it was already the end of the holiday, I still underestimated the popularity of Baqian Gorge. For those planning a one-day trip, you must arrive a day earlier and stay at a hotel at the foot of the scenic area. I arrived around noon and chose to stay. We went to Hongdou Gorge and found a homestay in the gorge. The environment was average, but you can experience a paradise-like feeling. To clarify, the tickets for Hongdou Gorge, Qinglong Gorge (I didn't go for rafting due to lack of time), and Baqian Gorge are sold together and are valid for three days. Hongdou Gorge can only be considered a resort, not a scenic spot. The scenery is very beautiful, just quietly enjoy its beauty, very peaceful. The homestay owner can take your car inside. The next morning, drive to Baqian Gorge (20 minutes, you must get up early). There are two routes for visiting Baqian Gorge, A and B. Route A is the most energy-saving, with a small shuttle taking you to the pier. Sit on the left side or the stern of the boat for the best shooting angle. After getting off the boat, you will reach the Baqian Heart check-in point. Follow the signs and don't miss it. After checking in, you can enjoy the mountain and water gorge scenery. The water is extremely clear, and you can see fish swimming everywhere. Walking to the end, you will reach the cableway, which takes about 20 minutes. It is generally thrilling, and I was too scared to look at the scenery. After getting off the cableway, you will reach Yuhuang Palace. After checking in, you can choose to take the aerial bus down for 20 yuan. If you feel energetic, you can walk down the mountain, which takes about 25 minutes. Route B is the opposite of Route A and is more physically demanding because you climb the mountain first. Personally, I think Baqian Gorge is worth visiting. It truly has high gorges and flat lakes. You must get up early and enter the park at seven o'clock. It takes more than three hours and is quite cool. One more thing to add, because the Taihang Line is under construction, you need to detour. The road to the mountain is winding, so be sure to follow traffic rules. The services at the foot of the mountain are complete, and the prices are not high. It is only open for more than three months each year, so if you have the chance, go and check it out. That's all.

This moment has become more simple and clear
On the vast lands of Shaanxi and Shanxi, the mountain village cave dwellings are like pearls deposited by time, exuding a unique charm.
These cave dwellings are a tacit creation of the earth and the mountain people. They are built along the mountains, blending seamlessly with the loess, as if they were meticulously crafted works of art by nature. The appearance of the cave dwellings is simple and unadorned, yet they possess a steady and solid strength, much like the hardworking people of this land, silently bearing the weight of life.
Entering the cave dwellings, a rustic atmosphere greets you. The rough walls tell stories of the years, and the dim lights create a warm ambiance. There are no luxurious decorations here, but there is the warmth and tranquility of home. The earthen kang is the soul of the cave dwellings. In winter, the family sits around the kang, sharing the joys and sorrows of life, and the steaming days flow with laughter and joy.
Outside the cave dwellings are rolling mountains and vast fields. The changing seasons bring varied scenery, endowing this land with endless vitality. In spring, the mountains are adorned with blooming flowers, surrounding the cave dwellings with vibrant colors; in summer, the green trees provide shade, bringing coolness to the cave dwellings; in autumn, the golden crops cover the land, and the joy of harvest fills every corner; in winter, the snow-covered landscape makes the cave dwellings look like fairy-tale cottages, serene and beautiful.
The mountain village cave dwellings in Shaanxi and Shanxi are not just a form of residence but also a cultural heritage. They witness the changes of history and carry people's aspirations for a better life. Here, time seems to slow down, allowing people to calm their minds, feel the gifts of nature, and savor the essence of life.

Shanxi's most relaxing ancient town for summer retreat! Night tours are absolutely amazing!!
Summer heat is unbearable, I've hidden away here!
~After the summer solstice, the scorching summer chapter begins
The increasingly hot weather makes it necessary to find a cool place
In Jincheng, Shanxi, there is such an ancient town for summer retreat, where you can live like a deity once you arrive
25 degrees Celsius at night is a must-have✈️✈️
'Coolness' is its natural advantage, with a comfortable tourism period lasting 7 months, 'spring has flowers, summer has shade, autumn has fruit, winter has scenery', it's enjoyable in all seasons✅✅It is a 'living ancient town' that combines experiencing a thousand years of culture, intangible cultural heritage folk customs, and advocating leisure and health.
'Day+Night' opens up a deep tour experience--stroll through the ancient town during the day, understand its thousand-year history, feel the profound cultural heritage, and at night, when the darkness falls, the lights shine brightly, creating a colorful scene, enjoy a spectacle of fiery trees and silver flowers🎆
The ancient town has withstood the test of time for a thousand years, its bricks and tiles still majestic and solemn, with official mansions, temples, and wealthy courtyards all located within, walking on the streets with the charm of the Ming and Qing dynasties, browsing the street views while tasting delicious food, time seems to slow down infinitely
As night falls and the lights come on, the dignified and elegant town is instantly illuminated, and the night view is even more splendid than during the day!🎆
At night, the iron flower performance and the city wall light show are very worth seeing, clusters of iron flowers fall from the sky like a rain of flowers, a unique and dazzling scene under the night sky. 'The east wind blows thousands of trees at night, they shed more blossoms than rain of stars.'
Bring a touch of tranquility, a handful of coolness, rather than longing, come here~ With the evening breeze, there are more reasons to love life🎆

I've arrived at the ancient capital known for its 'terrestrial cultural relics in Shanxi' that spans a thousand years!
'To see underground cultural relics, go to Shaanxi; to see aboveground cultural relics, go to Shanxi.'
Shanxi is a province in China with a long history and profound cultural heritage, known as China's 'ancient capital of a thousand years.' This time, I came to Shanxi to visit ancient buildings. Every historic site I visited was awe-inspiring.
I can't help but marvel at the wisdom and ultimate aesthetic of the ancients.
Walking tens of thousands of steps in Shanxi each day, I collected these ancient buildings that have been frozen in time on this ancient land. If you come to Shanxi, you might have a clearer understanding of why 'to see terrestrial cultural relics, go to Shanxi.'

Inside the abandoned hospital lies a hidden, stunningly beautiful temple of the state
⚠️ There is a temple dedicated to the gods of the land and grain hidden on the east side of Hongji Bridge. If you don't look carefully, it's very easy to miss this magnificent temple.
⚠️ The existing temples of the state are all Qing Dynasty buildings, featuring offerings hall, main hall, bell and drum towers, etc. Climbing through the narrow corridors and ascending the drum tower, we can't help but marvel at the exquisite ancient architecture and be impressed by the superb skills of the craftsmen...
⚠️ The main hall is tall and elegant, with a majestic atmosphere. The upturned eaves form beautiful curves, making the massive roof appear relaxed and light; the offering pavilion is sturdily and generously designed; the bell and drum towers have flying eaves and intricate structures. However, the most outstanding feature of the temple of the state is the wood carvings on the buildings. The railings connecting the columns, the sparrow braces, and the decorative drooping lotus column heads, as well as the layered brackets, are all finely carved with patterns of double dragons playing with pearls, fish and cloud patterns, and stories of landscapes and people. The compositions are vivid, the carving is skilled, the lines are smooth and natural, and with the addition of red lacquer painting, it is truly a magnificent combination of architectural technology and decorative art.
⚠️ From the side, you can climb to the top of the drum tower, where the dome-shaped caisson is made of complex wooden components and depicts simple and unsophisticated colored paintings, showing extreme craftsmanship. The surrounding eight trigrams hint at the ancient Chinese philosophical thought. The spiritual concept of the five elements and eight trigrams, which is actually based on materialism, is crucial to the governance of the nation's land and grain for an agricultural country.
⚠️ On September 1, 2008, a team of ancient building restorers was repairing the dilapidated temple of the state in Fen Cheng Town, Xiangfen County.

Shanxi Trip 1
I set off early in the morning to Beijing North Station, taking the G2529 high-speed train to start my free trip to Shanxi. The important itinerary of this trip is to fulfill my two long-standing wishes. The first is Mount Heng, the last of the Five Great Mountains, and the second is Mount Wutai, one of the Five Great Buddhist Mountains, which I missed several times due to unforeseen circumstances. With this trip, I will have visited all of the Five Great Mountains of the motherland—Mount Tai in the east, Mount Hua in the west, Mount Song in the center, Mount Heng in the south, Mount Heng in the north—as well as the Five Great Buddhist Mountains—Mount Emei, Mount Jiuhua, Mount Putuo, Mount Fanjing, and Mount Wutai. That will be quite an accomplishment!

This route in Shanxi, which celebrates the autumn season, is like a fairy tale in fall
Shanxi's route seems like autumn in a fairy tale world, with its treasure trove of autumn colors intoxicating visitors. Although there's no need to travel to the distant Xinjiang, one can still experience the fairy-tale-like autumn atmosphere here.
However, it's puzzling why such beautiful autumn scenery is so rarely appreciated by tourists?
This route can be called the most beautiful autumn scenery tour in Shanxi:
✅ The winding mountain roads are lined with golden leaves that seem to heal the soul.
✅ Rivers and grasslands, accompanied by the figures of cattle and sheep, sketch out enchanting landscapes.
✅ Passing through the Shenchid Nanshan scenic area (national hiking trail), it's like a treasure trove, not only with pine cones, sea buckthorn, squirrels, and other plants and animals but also with magnificent hiking trails that accompany you all the way, offering breathtaking views.
✅ The entire route is sparsely populated and charmingly scenic.
✅ You can stop at will to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
✅ You can also camp and picnic, fully enjoying the care of nature.
✅ Moreover, this treasure route is completely free!
For both adults and children, this route is simply fantastic! Children can see animals such as cattle, sheep, horses🐎, donkeys, squirrels🐿️, and more. They can also play in the water, collect leaves, pick pine cones, and harvest sea buckthorn, reaping the fruits of autumn. Adults can linger in the beautiful scenery, take photos to record the moment, or choose to camp and picnic. It's a pity that the sight of a real-life squirrel running with a pine cone in its mouth wasn't captured on camera~
⚠️This route is completely free!
🔍Navigate to Taipingzhuang Village, Shenchi County, Shanxi, and then follow the Taibing Line➡️Chunzhi Line➡️Xinwu Line➡️Wuzhai County (starting from Taipingzhuang Village or Wuzhai County).
If you have ample time, you can also choose the Luya Mountain scenic area, but even if you don't enter the scenic area, the nearby scenery is equally beautiful and is an excellent choice for travel check-ins~
⚠️The weather is getting cooler, please wear a coat. There are farmhouses to stay along the way, but not many restaurants, so it's recommended to bring your own food, or find a nearby farmhouse to enjoy delicious meals~
▶️Nearby attractions recommendation: After completing this route, if you have time, you can also go to Luya Mountain, Xinzhou Ancient City to enjoy yourself.
❤️The most beautiful scenery is always on the road, take your wishes and set off~

Five thousand years seem so distant, yet Shanxi is so close! Welcome to travel to Shanxi
Shanxi is simply a paradise of history! 😁📚
Stepping on this ancient land, what you see is not just a tree, a house🏡. Everything you see is actually a mark left by history in the frost and wind... I hope you can, like me, slow down, and listen to these silent stories. ✍️🎶
As you stroll leisurely in the Foguang Temple, the hustle and bustle around you may gradually fade away at this moment. Seeing the full wishes of people when they leave, it's as if you can understand the longing of the ancestors for this sacred land. 🌙🔔
Here, at the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, you can face a thousand years of history. This ancient pagoda has withstood the test of time and still stands tall. 💪🏛️
However, time is eroding its body on one side, reminding me of Liang Sicheng's words, 'I really can't bear to leave, fearing that once we part, it may be forever,' leaving my heart filled with mixed emotions. 😔⏳
Entering Jinci, those little houses that seem to come straight out of 'Journey to the West' always remind me of the footprints of Sun Wukong. Perhaps he once played here, otherwise, how could he conjure up such similar 'little houses'? 🤔🐒
Whether it's under the Feiyun Tower or in front of the Xixian Xiaoxitian Gate in Xixian County, Shanxi will bring you surprises everywhere, as long as you are willing. 😊🌈
But honestly, the charm of 'Shanxi' is far more than what my simple words can describe. So, my treasures, you have to come and experience the historical charm here for yourself. 💪🧡
