【About Diving Certification】👈
1️⃣Types of Diving Certificates
OW (Entry-level)
Half-day theory class + 2 days of water courses, certified to dive <18 meters, age >10 years
AOW (Advanced)
2 days of underwater courses, certified to dive <30 meters, age >12 years
You must get OW before AOW. It's possible to get both at once if you're physically fit, but it's not recommended as diving is very exhausting.
Diving certificates are valid long-term and globally recognized, but AOW allows you to explore more dive sites.
.
2️⃣Certification Tips
Make sure to study the theory and watch the videos before entering the water, otherwise, you won't understand what the instructor is doing and can't communicate underwater, leading to confusion.
You don't need to know how to swim to get certified, but it helps.
You can't fly within 12 hours after one dive, and within 18 hours after two or more dives to avoid decompression sickness.
Prepare an electronic version of your ID photo; the instructor will issue the certificate the same night after passing.
.
3️⃣What to Bring for Your First Dive
✔️Rash guard (can be worn under the wetsuit for protection and sunblock)
✔️Prescription mask (wearing contact lenses underwater can be uncomfortable)
✔️Quick-dry towel (absorbs water quickly and dries fast)
✔️Dive socks (to prevent foot blisters), flip-flops
✔️Coral-friendly sunscreen, lip balm

Timba Timba Island, Malaysia | My ideal island.
🌟Highlights:
Timba Timba Island is a small island located in the northeast of Semporna, close to Mataking Island, Bohey Dulang Island, and Pom Pom Island. These four islands form one of the island hopping routes in Semporna, known as the Mataking Line.
🏖️Timba Timba Island is like a sandbar in the sea, with a one-kilometer-long tail beach and surrounding gradient blue-green sea water🌊. The sea here is rich in coral reefs🪸 and is super suitable for diving. There are no residents on the island, it is a super private and original island!!🏝️
Usually, island hopping tours will first go to Timba Timba Island to take photos on the tail beach, play on the glass boat🚢, and then go snorkeling/deep diving🤿 to encounter various magical marine creatures🐬
I hope this island will never be developed, and keep its purest appearance🐚🦀🌊

Embark on the awe-inspiring beauty of Bukit Tengkorak with a hike that promises breathtaking views and a rewarding adventure. This trail offers a mix of rugged terrain and lush greenery, leading you to a summit with panoramic vistas that make the climb worthwhile.

We were fortunate to meet a local at the museum who led us off the beaten path. What usually takes about 2 hours turned into an epic 4-hour trek through hidden trails. Singamata Reef Resort: The Beautiful & Relaxing Resort
#resorts #100waysoftravel
A resort that is about 15 mins ride from the semporna town. Its well maintained and friendly staff. Rooms are simple but clean. The view is awesome and there are many instagrammable spots around the resort.
They also have activities such as snorkelling, glass boat for a minimal fee. The only downside is the food at the cafe which is buffet style but can definitely be improved in terms of choice and cooking.
Meals served are breakfast, lunch, teatime and dinner. When we visited it was low season and the environment was so nice and peaceful.
We also felt quite safe as there is a police point at the resort. There is also a small mini mart selling basic snacks and noodles.

Wonderful Experience at Dayang Resort
#resorts #100waysoftravel
We had a wonderful time at the resort. The room, amenities and food may be not a par with the other resorts, but the scenery and staff are really wonderful. The staff take care of the guest to ensure their safety.
They are always around to monitor the guest especially during high tide and most of the time accompanied the guest when snorkelling or swimming near the hotel.
If you expect a 5 star room, amenities and food, of course you will be disappointed. If you want to relax, enjoy the scenery, like us you will definitely have a memorable and enjoyable time. Thank you to all the staff for taking good care of us during our stay.

Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort
#resorts #100waysoftravel
Kapalai is located approximately 45 mins to 1 hour from Semporna town, via a speed boat. It provides a 360° breathtaking ocean view. We were amazed by the unpolluted turquoise sea water upon arrival. The water is clean and see-through to the sea bed.
Sea turtles were abundantly spotted around the resort. We were told by one of the buggy drivers that Kapalai has its own man-made beach to encourage the sea turtles to lay eggs. To date, Kapalai has managed to release more than 100 sea turtles into the ocean. Sipadan is famous for its Green and Hawksbill sea turtles.
While snorkelling, we spotted not only sea turtles but barracuda, colourful coral reefs, stingrays, starfishes, squids, to name a few. The snorkelling gear can be rented for RM23/day. The famous clear kayak boat can also be rented for RM50/hour. This is especially famous amongst the ladies. The staff of Kapalai are more than helpful to help you take the best photos of you riding on the kayak.
"Harley-Davidson" could be rented in the resort for RM50/day. Don't get me wrong, it is however not the real Harley-Davidson, mind the pun. The staff refers the pastel rattan coloured bicycle as Harley-Davidson. The bicycle complements the beautiful resort. Aplenty of photos could be taken with you riding on it too.

A Slice of Paradise : Danglai Resort Semporna
#indonesiatrip
Danglai Resort is a hidden gem in the middle of the sea in Semporna. This premium resort exceeded my expectations with its private pool and balcony stairs leading directly to the sea.
The sunset views were breathtaking, and the private net balcony was perfect for relaxation. The resort's romantic atmosphere made it ideal for our honeymoon, and it's also suitable for group trips. The food was exceptional, with a wide range of delicious options.
What truly impressed me was the inclusive package, covering island hopping, airport transport, boat transfers, and even a lunchbox and tour guide when we are out.
If you're seeking a Maldives-like experience without the hefty price tag, Danglai Resort is the perfect choice.

Certainly, one must experience the passionate island breeze at Semporna
There is a fairyland called Semporna, and a sea called the Glass Jelly Sea of Kapalai in Semporna, where you can be forever fascinated by the glassy sea as you indulge in the free and passionate island breeze.
Living in Semporna is simply about waiting for those moments when the wind comes, like chasing the island breeze.
Semporna, you have all the blue that I desire.
After crossing the Glass Sea, I arrived in another world.
✅Must Experience:
Sipadan Island,
Mabul Island,
Mataking Island,
Kapalai Island,
Warship Island,
Pearl Island
🍽Dining Recommendations:
When in Semporna, of course, you must try the seafood. The prices here are very affordable, and you can usually bargain. Moreover, the seafood is fresh out of the water and cooked on the spot. Recommended dishes include cream butter tiger prawns, salted egg yolk crab with coconut, cream fried shrimp, and salt and pepper mantis shrimp, which are quite large! Also, the local fried noodles are a specialty!
👍Most Recommended:
Sipadan, 36 kilometers away from Semporna Port, is a world-class diving paradise. After the 5-meter shallow waters of Sipadan, there is a vertical drop of over 600 meters into the deep blue sea, making it the world's top wall diving site. Moreover, there are many fish species to observe underwater, which diving enthusiasts should not miss.
💰Average Cost:
The cost of living in Semporna is cheaper than in China. Street-side durians cost about 4-5 yuan per half kilogram, and tiger prawns in seafood restaurants are about 14 yuan each. Renting a motorcycle for a day costs about 50 yuan. Eating, drinking, and having fun are all at fairy-tale prices!
📝Tips to Note:
🍀For example, purchase a SIM card, charging adapter, and diving suit in advance on shopping apps, and download ride-hailing apps like Grab and Google Maps.
🍀Dress Guide: Malaysia is in summer all year round, with high temperatures and strong ultraviolet rays, but thunderstorms are common. In addition to summer clothes, be prepared with rain gear or rainproof outdoor clothing.
🍀Moreover, many locals in Semporna are Muslims, and wearing tank tops, shorts, and miniskirts is strictly prohibited in mosques.
🍀Remember to bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and other sun protection items.
🍀Malaysia's elegant lifestyle is rich, and you can try local delicacies and night markets.
🍀Respect local culture and customs, and maintain civilized tourism.
🍀Keep an eye on your personal belongings, especially in crowded and bustling places!

This Beach in Malaysia is so Dreamy😍🇲🇾
#malaysiatrip
Originally, looking at the sea at night also has a different beauty. This is a place very close to the sky, as if the end of the world can be seen with the naked eye. All the stars in the sky are beautiful when you take a photo! Paired with glass, the sea is extremely beautiful, and the sea is too clean, which can also make people feel scared in the deep sea. It is particularly comfortable, and each room is equipped with an independent balcony and two lounge chairs. It is very quiet in the middle of the night, suitable for thinking about life in the open air. Looking at the sea and stars in the dark, it is a wonderful and special experience

Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort: A Perfect Guide to a Dreamy Wonderland
Sipadan, that dreamlike marine world, and Kapalai Dive Resort is its shining pearl.
🚗 Transportation: Located in East Malaysia, visitors can arrive at Tawau Airport from various places, then charter a car from Tawau Airport to the exclusive jetty in Sipadan town (you can choose the speedboat schedule according to your arrival time, address) for about a 45-minute speedboat ride. Tips: Those who get seasick can sit at the stern of the boat.
🚢 Arriving at Kapalai: Upon arrival at Kapalai, you will be greeted with a welcome drink (very delicious!). The staff will let guests rest in the restaurant for a while, then they will come to check you in personally. Rooms are generally assigned in advance (tips: if you are not satisfied with the assigned room number, you can try to ask the staff for a change. We told the staff we were on our honeymoon, and we were lucky to get the room with the best view, number 61!). If you arrive on the island in the morning, you can usually check into your room after dining, around one or two o'clock. During this free time, you can stroll around the island, take photos, and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
⚠️ Rooms 1-50 are generally close to the restaurant, with a less open view and older facilities, but the advantage is being close to the restaurant and having good signal reception.
Rooms 50-70 are newly built, with a broad view, beautiful scenery, and more modern facilities, but the signal is not very good, and it's more troublesome to call for a car.
Rooms 70-90 are closer to the artificial beach and are the furthest from the restaurant. The rooms are also very new, and you can see the trailing sand beach after the tide goes out.
🌊 The dining environment is very good, with a first-line jellyfish sea view, and the food is average. It is served in a buffet style, and there are some paid drinks and ice cream available!
🤿 As for snorkeling, snorkeling equipment needs to be rented for a fee. Snorkeling in the Kapalai lagoon is great, with many fish and beautiful corals, and we were lucky to see Nemo! (We didn't experience diving)
🌄 In the evening, you can also go to the artificial beach to watch the sunset, which is very beautiful. Personally, I think it compares well with the sunset at Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu!
Overall, Kapalai's jellyfish sea is very beautiful. The first time you see it, you will be shocked by such a beautiful sea. Compared to other resorts, it has better facilities and strong security. If your budget allows, definitely go for Kapalai.

Semporna has fulfilled all my fantasies about an island paradise
Malaysia's visa-free policy makes it even more convenient to visit Semporna! It boasts Malaysia's most beautiful islands🏝 and the only stateless sea gypsies, the Bajau Laut, in the world. The numerous islands, big and small, are scattered like pearls, forming a secret haven waiting to be discovered by the world~
Activities: There are various islands to explore according to personal preference. Mabul Island and Sipadan Island are more suitable for snorkeling🤿 and sea fishing, and also great for macro underwater photography. Kapalai Island, Mantabuan Island, and Timba Timba Island are perfect for leisure and photography. Mataking Island: Rich underwater resources, beautiful scenery, but only accessible to guests staying at the island's resort! On Bohey Dulang Island, you can hike and enjoy distant views. There are no direct flights to Semporna; you can choose to transfer through Kota Kinabalu. A longer transfer time might just reward you with a stunning sunset you won't regret.
Accommodation: The conditions in Semporna town are average, so it's recommended to book a better hotel near the jetty. Many might want to experience staying in an overwater bungalow! But don't blindly book one just because it's labeled as such, check the reviews or the environment. Some are built by locals and may have poor facilities!
Little tips: Use a Celcom SIM card. It's good to have some cash as many convenience stores and restaurants only accept cash. When encountering begging Bajau Laut children, don't give them anything, or you'll be surrounded by a group of kids asking for more. Overseas hotels do not provide free toothpaste and toothbrushes, so remember to bring your own!
