Bosna i Hercegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina, commonly referred to as "BiH", is a country on the Balkan Peninsula. Located in the central part of the former Yugoslavia, the country has a total area of 51,200 square kilometers and a population of 3.5 million:
Bosniaks account for approximately 50.11%;
Serbs account for approximately 30.78%;
Croats account for approximately 15.43%.
50.7% of the population are Muslim,
30.75% are Orthodox Christians,
15.19% are Catholics.
52.86% speak Bosnian,
30.76% speak Serbian,
14.6% speak Croatian.
This has resulted in the country's leadership being composed of three individuals, with each ethnic group electing a president for a four-year term, during which each person takes turns serving as the chair of the presidency for eight months!
The region was occupied by the Roman Empire in 168 BC. In 455, the Ostrogoths took over the area, and the Avars began their invasions in the 6th and 7th centuries, with Slavs also entering the Balkan Peninsula. In 1377, an independent Kingdom of Bosnia was established, but in 1463 it was invaded by the Ottoman Empire, and Bosnia was annexed. It later became a territory of the Ottoman Empire. In 1908, it was annexed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1918, it joined the Kingdom of Serbia-Croatia-Slovenia, which was renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1929. In 1945, it became one of the constituent republics of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, and declared independence in 1992.
The capital, Sarajevo, is located in the eastern part of BiH on the upper course of the Bosna River, surrounded by mountains, with a mild climate. Founded in 1263, it became the trigger for World War I in 1914, and was involved in the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1996.

Explore Bistrik Tower Ruins near Sarajevo
If you're planning a trip to Sarajevo, make sure you check out the Bistrik Tower ruins! To get there, take the Trebevic gondola airlift to the mountain peak, from here you can reach the abandoned bobsled track, follow that to the end and you'll find a path leading to these abandoned towers! Not only are they fun to explore, they're also rich in history! they were originally built as military fortresses before being abandoned for many years. They were then rebuilt into an astronomical observatory before being destroyed completely in the last war. #bosniaandherzegovina #sarajevo #ruins #abandoned #history

Sarajevo is a city of people with warm hearts
Balcan.. The past was not so kind with the Balcan.. Especially not with Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦...
People are amazing, kind... Walking through the streets and talking with people you can still feel the pain that left the past. If we want to want more about history and people leaving with it even in 21st century, Sarajevo is a must.
Try the famous kebab, coffee and talking with the people. Highly recommend.

Sarajevo's Raiders, the new city after the war, h
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is known as the Jerusalem of Europe. On June 28, 1914, on the Latin Bridge in Sarajevo, Prinsip of Serbia assassinated the Ferdinand Grand Duke who ruled the entire Austro-Hungarian Empire and detonated the First World War.
From 1992 to 1995, following the largest war since World War II, the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina broke out and the entire Sarajevo was surrounded by Serbian forces. The whole city is like a hell on earth, and it is also the longest siege war in the history of modern warfare.
However, this city, made of blood and tears, has revived its vitality many years later.
Recommended attractions:
1 City Hall
Vijenicas City Hall is the most magnificent building built during the occupation of Sarajevo by the Austro-Hungarian Empire and a symbol of world civilization.
2 Mosque
mosque was built in 1951, the beautiful Ottoman building, the largest mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina and now a Muslim-style octagon The tomb is in the mosque.
3 Sacred Heart Cathedral
The largest Catholic church in Bosnia and Herzegovina, incorporating Gothic and Roman architecture, two architectural styles, two cultures. The city is characterized by numerous religious buildings and represents a positive and open mindset of the city's blending of culture.
4Latin Bridge
The fuse of the First World War-Latin Bridge. Historical reasons doomed the extraordinaryness of the bridge. In 1914, the Serbian national youth Principe Gavrilo Princip assassinated the Austrian Crown Prince Ferdinand and his wife, and created the Sarajevo incident.
6Lion Tomb
A couple was killed at the Vrbanja Bridge when they fled the beleaguered Sarajevo on May 19, 1993. When the two men stepped on the bridge, the gunshots suddenly sounded. The man first shot and died directly. Then the woman was shot. She held the other corpse tightly and died after 15 minutes. The two died when they were only 25 years old.
7 Sniper Alley
This is the main city road in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War. Because of its unique location, it is the best sniper sniper. The sniper can hide and aim at any place on the street. It has also become an important cultural and historical site in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Practical Raiders:
1 Time difference: 6 hours slower than domestic.
2 Currency and exchange rate: Mark BAM, 1 RMB = 0.248 mark
3 calling card: I bought it locally and can solve it in TB.
4 Transportation:
-Flight: At present, there is no direct flight to Bosnia and Herzegovina in China. The more mainstream is to choose Russian Airlines to transfer to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
-Automobile: Domestic flights to Belgrade, Dubrovnik, Munich, Split, Vienna and Zagreb, then transfer to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
-Train: The only international train in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the daily Zagreb-Sarajevo-Mostal route.

Sarajevo should be the most famous place in the entire Balkans. When I was a child, I heard the city in the news broadcast. It was repeated in the history books. In 1914, Priest shot the Grand Duke of Ferdinand in the Latin Bridge in Sarajevo. Triggered the First World War.
always thought that this once filled with smoke, the broken place will be devastated, I did not expect to be completely different from the imagination, this place is beautiful and unimaginable, it is not lost to Prague, and the degree of modernization is very high, it is amazing.
Sarajevo under the light and shadow, full of bullet holes, but there is no other style, let people realize the importance of peace [love]

The oldest street in Sarajevo: Coppersmiths Street
Friends who have seen the Battle of Sarajevo must be familiar with this street. The retreating Walter and the guerrillas ran across Coppersmith Street, and the old craftsmen in the shop agreed at the same time. Start tapping...
This street existed in the 15th century. It is considered to be the oldest street in Sarajevo. There are still many craftsmen.
From the street signs and their smiles, we can still see that they still welcome the Chinese.
There are many coppersmiths here that have been passed down from generation to generation. The shop is full of bronzes designed and made by them. Figure 3 shows the crafts on the right side of Figure 4. Guess what?

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Capital - Sarajevo
Belgrade, Serbia - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
July 7, 2019, sunny, 22–33°C
08:00 Depart from Serbia and drive to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 10:30 Arrive at the border between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, 10:50 Enter the country.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is the seventh country on this trip. The full name of the country is the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was also a republic of the former Yugoslavia and declared independence in 1992. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the poorer regions in Europe, and after independence, a civil war broke out (the Bosnian War), which severely damaged the economy. The economy has been gradually recovering since 2016.
14:40 Arrive in Sarajevo.
Sarajevo is the capital and economic and cultural center of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the central part of the country, near the upper reaches of the Bosna River, a tributary of the Sava River, surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery.
There are two main political events in the history of Sarajevo: On June 28, 1914, the crown prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was assassinated here by a Serbian patriot, which became the trigger for World War I; in March 1992, a three-year civil war broke out in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the longest urban offensive and defensive battle in modern warfare history took place around Sarajevo.
Visit the old town of Sarajevo. The city was founded during the Ottoman rule and has a history of more than 700 years (Figure 1 Latin Bridge, Figure 2 Inn Ruins). The commercial street is unique, with old streets paved with stones, and the buildings on both sides show the customs of the Bosnian people and the style of Turkey. Rows of handicraft shops are scattered (Figure 3), interspersed with cafes, barbecue restaurants, mosques, Catholic churches (Figure 4), and Orthodox churches (Figure 5).
When I arrived in Sarajevo, I remembered an old anti-war movie "Walter Defends Sarajevo." The film was translated and released in China by Beijing Film Studio in 1973, and our generation has watched it and was impressed. Today, I saw the mosque and clock tower (Figures 6 and 7) where the film was shot. The watch shop has been converted into a film museum, but I couldn't visit it because it was closed. There is also a stone-carved chessboard (Figure 8) and a flock of pigeons (Figure 9) begging for food from tourists in the square by the street.
The Internet is very developed in China, and people cannot live without it. On this trip, we didn't rent "Roaming Man" anymore and tried to use Huawei "SkyTone." Overall, it was good, but Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina were not covered, so there was no Internet on the road, and we could only use other people's and hotel networks.
Stay overnight at Hotel Espana.

Sarajevo
One of the most interesting cities I’ve visited in Europe. Sarajevo was a mix between a lot of cultures. There were Ottoman, Austrian and modern buildings in the capital, with a lot of ottoman inspired food and drinks, like its tea and coffee. Moreover, the people there were very nice and explained a lot of its history to me. There were a lot of monuments to the Bosnian war and WW1.
If you are a history geek, then this city is definitely for you! The mixture between Soviet, European and Ottoman cultures would definitely amaze you to the furthest extent!
If you like food, then Sarajevo is also a good place for you. Try the local gelatos!!! They are definitely the best!

“Discovering Sarajevo: The Timeless Crossroads of East and West”
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a city where East meets West, blending Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and modern influences. Known as the “Jerusalem of Europe,” its streets are filled with mosques, churches, and synagogues standing side by side. Sarajevo has a rich, yet tumultuous history, from the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand that sparked World War I to enduring the longest siege in modern history during the 1990s. Today, the city thrives with life, offering visitors bustling bazaars, scenic hills, and a resilient spirit that reflects both its painful past and hopeful future.#历史古迹 #europe #solotravel

Resilience and Charm: Sarajevo City
#hiddengems
My visit to Sarajevo was a poignant and eye-opening experience. The city's rich history and cultural heritage are palpable, from the vibrant Baščaršija district to the somber War Childhood Museum. I was struck by the resilience and warmth of the Bosnian people, who have endured so much. The city's blend of Eastern and Western influences is fascinating, with Ottoman-era mosques and Austro-Hungarian architecture standing alongside modern cafes and shops. The scenic views of the surrounding mountains and rivers add to the city's charm. Sarajevo has left an indelible mark on my heart, and I look forward to returning someday.

Salep @ Demirović
I have Salep at Caffe Slastičarna Demirović, a cafe full of history since 1892. And the Salep I have is totally different from the one I had in Istanbul. This version is strongly scented with cinnamon and cloves, just too sweet.
Salep, also spelled sahlep or sahlab, is a flour made from the tubers of the orchid. These tubers contain a nutritious, starchy polysaccharide called glucomannan. Salep flour is consumed in beverages and desserts, especially in the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire, it is a traditional winter beverage.
