We really had a lovely time at the mountain especially seeing and walking through the beautiful nature. We didn't hike all the way to the top of the mountain because we weren't properly clothed and equipped. You will see the best panoramic stunning view of the surrounding forest Please be aware that there are some steep stairs so make sure that you are well equipped with a good pair of boots or shoes. You can also take the cable car to cut the hiking short. Entrance fee: 80 Cable car fee: 60 (roundtrip) . After 25K steps it was worth it

Dujiangyan is a small city next to Chengdu (1h drive) and we stayed at some local hotel just for a night. Qingcheng mt is nearby, 20min by taxi and entrance to a big park is free. You can use sightseeing bus to entrance, but it's just a 25min walk to ticket office. Save some money. To visit all temples and pagoda on top, price is 80rmb. And then climbing starts...stairs, stairs and more stairs. Highly recommend Cable car return ticket (60rmb). Saving you around 2km of climbing. Plenty of small fast food and beverage stores, but pricey. Coke is 10rmb, some pies go to 25rmb. So better get some snacks and water before. On the top is amazing view on mountains, city and lake. Summer season isn't best option cuz of noisy cicadas every step of the way. Just above the Town of Dujiangyan is Qingcheng mountain. There are touristy hiking routes up the front with temples, pagodas and viewpoints. While the back of the mountain offers less crowded hiking and longer routes. To get there it's easy enough to take a taxi from Chengdu.

Exploring the Taoist culture on Qingcheng Mountain is considered as the birthplace of Taoism and one of the most important Taoist centers in China. It can be a long hike up to the top but you pass by beautiful lakes, waterfalls and plenty of nature. For the physically less active there is also a chance to pay for a cable car ride but if you have the ability to walk, I highly recommend it. Those who want to experience Daoist culture should climb the Front Mountain, while those who wish to enjoy natural landscapes should climb the Back Mountain. I personally recommend climbing the Front Mountain. Today, I'll teach you how to reach the summit in 1 hour, and complete the entire Mount Qingcheng hike in 3.5 hours without missing any scenery. Mount Qingcheng is absolutely stunning & fascinating but be ready for LOTS of stairs! A shuttle bus moved us from the gate to the base of the mountain where we began our ascent. We walked about 30 minutes uphill (stairs & sloped path) and saw a few shrines & monuments. From there we took a quick boat ride across a man made lake then went up a section of the mountain by cable car. After that we walked another 30 minutes or so up many more stairs. During this final trek we saw 2 temples & the views from the mountain were spectacular! There were places on the mountain to purchase drinks and food. There were also washrooms…some quite dark with no electricity. Wear comfortable shoes, bug spray & be ready for a hike but you won’t be disappointed!
