Although Haikou is the provincial capital, it's only the size of a palm and has no subway. Buses, taxis, and electric bikes are all very convenient. Take a taxi directly to the hotel after getting off the plane, and never take an unlicensed cab. If you choose to travel by electric bike, don't go too far, or you'll end up miserably pushing the bike back, which is really embarrassing. Before coming to Haikou, be sure to check the weather, as it can rain for several days without notice, which really ruins the experience. The prices on the Arcade Old Street are a bit high, but it's really worth a visit. There are many delicious snacks and it's great for taking photos. Remember to bargain, it's the most beautiful arcade I've seen so far, with unique windows and reliefs. Haikou is considered to have the most food options in Hainan.
