Discover the Hidden Beauty of Inner Mongolia! A Complete Guide to a Three-Day, Two-Night Self-Driving Tour in Bayannur
🌈Bayannur, a low-key treasure hidden in Inner Mongolia, has finally unveiled its mysterious veil to us! Last weekend, our family of three drove through this undeveloped paradise and had an absolute blast! Today, I'm here to share this super detailed travel guide with you! 🚗💨
🌅【Day 1: Beijing→Bayannur→Wuliangsuhai】
At 7:30 in the morning, we took an early flight directly to Bayannur. As soon as we arrived at the airport, we headed straight to the car rental point, picked up our beloved vehicle, and started our self-driving journey! 🚀
🛣️Driving for 1.5 hours, the scenery along the way was picturesque. We stopped occasionally to capture the tranquility and beauty with our cameras. Finally, we arrived at Wuliangsuhai. The ticket was only 10 yuan, which included a ferry and a bird exhibition hall! 🐦
🍽️For lunch, we drove 7 kilometers to a small town. I highly recommend the specialty stir-fried meat there; the tomatoes grown in the desert were a feast for the taste buds! 😋
🌊The beauty of Wuliangsuhai was mesmerizing, with flocks of seagulls dancing gracefully. Bring some bread and have a close encounter with them! Don't forget to experience the thrill of the flying fish boat and the sea motorcycle. Also, try the smoked duck at the entrance of the scenic area, 30 yuan each, so delicious you'll lick your fingers! 🦆
🌄In the evening, we returned to the city and checked into the Ramada Hotel. For over 200 yuan, we enjoyed five-star standards, an incredible value for money! As night fell, sunflower seeds and dairy products became our top choices for a late-night snack, especially those bulk dairy products that are hard to find elsewhere! 🥛
🌄【Day 2: Yinshan Rock Paintings→Agui Temple→Gobi Desert Road】
After waking up naturally, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then drove to the Yinshan Rock Paintings. No tickets were needed here; the intertwining Danxia and Yardang landforms made it feel like stepping into a natural painting. 🖼️
👣Climbing up a small hill, with red mountains and yellow sands, we found many beautiful stones, resembling agate and jade. Next, we headed to Agui Temple, passing through the Gobi Desert Road, known as the "Loneliest Road in the Yinshan Desert." For dozens of kilometers, there was almost no other car, desolate yet magnificent. 🛣️
🛕Inside Agui Temple, we spun prayer wheels and built Mani stones, feeling the peace and devotion. In the evening, we stayed at the Yujia Business Hotel in Jiao Lunbulage Town, clean and comfortable, with excellent value for money! 💰
🌅【Day 3: Western Dream Grand Canyon→Nalin Lake】
We set off early in the morning and drove to the Western Dream Grand Canyon. The ticket was 60 yuan, and the place was enormous. After checking the tickets, we drove directly into the canyon. 🚗
🏞️The left, middle, and right roads led to different scenic spots. We chose the most beautiful middle road, took a ferry deep into the canyon, and every spot was a dreamlike scene. The left and right sides were also worth exploring, walking deep into the canyon, climbing rocks to overlook the entire view, breathtakingly spectacular! 🏞️
🏖️In the afternoon, we drove to Nalin Lake, half lake and half desert. The 198 yuan online play package included camel riding, speed boating, sand sliding, and desert motorcycles, so much fun that we couldn't stop! 🐫🏍️
🏷️
I hope this guide makes your trip to Bayannur even more exciting and wonderful! Don't hesitate, bring your family and friends, and set off together! 👨👩👧👦🌈

Bayannur's Ulan Suhai Lake | The Pearl Beyond the Great Wall
Ulan Suhai Lake: Known as the Pearl Beyond the Great Wall, it is a beautiful landscape in the northern frontier of our motherland. The name 'Ulan Suhai' in Mongolian means 'a place where red willows grow', and the name of the place existed before the lake. Located in the Urad Front Banner of Bayannur, Inner Mongolia, it is a river trace lake formed by the diversion of the Yellow River, and it is also an extremely rare large grassland lake in the global desert and semi-desert areas. With a total area of 300 square kilometers, it is reputed as the 'Pearl Beyond the Great Wall'; it is one of the largest multifunctional lakes in arid grasslands and desert areas globally, and it is also the largest wetland at the same latitude on Earth. On August 7, 2012, the area of Ulan Suhai Lake was only a quarter of what it was 60 years ago, and experts once predicted that it might disappear within 10 to 20 years.
In recent years, with the advancement of comprehensive management projects, the overall water quality of Ulan Suhai Lake has significantly improved, and the ecology has turned for the better. Today, the waters of Ulan Suhai Lake are clear with waves, reeds swaying, and fish and birds in flocks. The water quality of the lake has been upgraded from below Grade V in the past to generally Grade V, with some areas reaching Grade IV. The species and number of birds residing have significantly increased, with currently more than 20 species of fish and more than 260 species of birds, totaling over 6 million individuals.
