【South America Five-Country Tour Series Twelve】Argentina Buenos Aires 'Women's Bridge'
🎞South America Five-Country Tour【Argentina Stop】The 4th sightseeing spot we visited was the 'Women's Bridge' in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
🎭The Women's Bridge is located in the commercial area of Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires. It is a cantilever cable-stayed bridge and a swing bridge. The Women's Bridge is 160 meters long, 6.2 meters wide, and weighs about 800 tons. It is composed of two simple lines: one spans the river, and the other shoots diagonally from the center of the bridge. Together with the bridge pier, these lines resemble a high-heeled shoe.
🖼There are only two Calatrava architectural bridges in all of Latin America, and the Women's Bridge is the first. According to the architect, it is a composite image of a couple dancing the tango. 🛥Locals say the most spectacular scene of the Women's Bridge is when a ferry needs to pass through. The bridge rotates 90° around the pier, opening the center of the bridge to allow the ferry to pass smoothly.
🎎Most of the visitors to the Women's Bridge are foreign tourists. Visiting the Women's Bridge takes only about ten minutes, but the surrounding area is still bustling. The square next to the Women's Bridge seems to be a 'car club', where young men perform high-difficulty bicycle stunts in front of foreign tourists. We captured the exciting moments of these bicycle experts with our camera………
