🗺️Kyoto One-Day Tour Itinerary:
⏰Morning - Nijo Castle (10-minute walk from the hotel)
🕐Afternoon - Eikando Temple - Nanzenji Temple (Take the subway from Nijo Castle Station, and walk 10 minutes between the two attractions)
💎Attraction Highlights:
📍Nijo Castle: Built by Tokugawa Ieyasu, it is a historical site in Kyoto. Nijo Castle combines traditional Japanese castle design with gorgeous decorations. We especially recommend visiting Ninomaru Palace, which is a great experience! The interior is a good restoration of the living scene at that time, and the murals are preserved. There are also three different styles of gardens and a cherry blossom garden in Nijo Castle.
📍Eikando Temple: The entire building is in a unique geographical location, built on the mountain. The most distinctive corridor in the temple is the Wolong Corridor. The main hall has a national-level important cultural property, the standing statue of Amitabha Buddha. It is also the most famous place for viewing maple leaves every year. Sitting under the maple trees and having a cup of tea is very pleasant.
📍Nanzenji Temple: The entrance Sanmon is its first landmark building, and you can overlook the entire Nanzenji Temple from the top. There is also a Roman-style red brick aqueduct, which is very photogenic! The abbot's garden has winding paths and small gardens of different styles, which are very beautiful!
📌Tips:
1️⃣Photography is not allowed inside Ninomaru Palace in Nijo Castle, but it is highly recommended to buy a ticket to visit!
2️⃣You can have lunch on the commercial street outside Nanzenji Temple, where there are many popular shops. Blue Bottle is a must-visit, and "Junsei" Kyoto-style tofu cuisine is not to be missed. However, there are many people at Junsei, so make an online reservation in advance to avoid queuing!
