Taiwan’s most popular old street👣
Ironically, I never heard nor knew about Tamsui Old Street until my local friend took me there during my trip. The street is well known in Taiwan for its historical past and local delicacies. My friend told me that there was initially a proposal to expand the railway system with a part of it running through the old street, but the project was modified so as preserve the street which has been there for more than a century since the Qing Dynasty.
Some local delicacies are the iron eggs and Agei (transparent noodles wrapped in tofu).Since it’s a coastal village, there’s an abundance of seafood snacks along the street: baked squid, fried fish, shrimp rolls… I defo recommend the seafood there. Everything I ate was fresh and delicious! There are also lots of options around if you feel like shopping. I also wandered in the alleys along the street to explore around. The street was pretty crowded, especially on a Saturday afternoon.
How to go ➡️ We took the MRT to Tamsui Station and walked for a few minutes.

First thing I love about Taipei is its tasty and wide variety of food. Whatever it is - chicken, sausage, bubble tea, fish ball, beef noodles...they are all so delicious! Taipei never runs out of night markets and it is just the best!

Freshwater Stables Street, surprises constantly!
Walk in the old street of Tamsui, an old-fashioned, squat-style, Japanese-style old building, as if you are telling the story of the town...
Street, to the square where Zhongzheng Road and Sanmin meet, the statue in the center is Dr. Ma Wei! He is a Canadian missionary. He was a freshwater missionary in 1872 and opened a hospital and school. He has made great contributions to the modernization of Taiwan!
The entrance of Ma Ma Street is a two-storey shop with exotic style. At first glance, it is a comic shop, but it is actually an Italian shoe store! This style has really adapted me for a long time!
Compared to the freshwater chapel at the Markham Street landmark, the heart-shaped tile on the square opposite the church with the frontal pattern of the chapel is full of eyeballs. At first, no one noticed, wait for me to shoot. After the end, many people also took pictures
is such a place that will surprise you everywhere, a casual small scene will also make people happy.

[Freshwater] It is a popular attraction in Taipei with romantic Fishermans Wharf, nostalgic Tamsui Old Street, and Tamway Middle School, which is closely related to Zhou Dong. Freshwater is a must-see place in Taipei, a must-see for young artists. A strong literary and nostalgic atmosphere.
1, [Freshwater Old Street]
Some people say that the best way to understand a place is to experience the life of the city. Tamsui Old Street is one of the best experiences. It is a combination of food, snacks and old streets. There are also many folk art shops, creating a richer folk color and nostalgic flavor, as well as the famous food Aji. "Iron Egg", "Jay Chou Package" and so on.
Transportation: Take the MRT to Danshui MRT Station and walk out on foot.
2, [Huangjiang Middle School]
"The most beautiful is not a rainy day, it is an eaves that have sheltered from you." When you walk on a campus full of activity, look at the natural The little boys running on the football field, watching the little girls in the rehearsal dance wearing uniform uniforms on the edge of the playground, are like walking in their youth. The scene in "The Secrets That Can't Be Say" must come to you.
[Huangjiang Middle School] is Jay Chou's alma mater, and is known to everyone because of his "Unspeakable Secrets."
Transportation: Approximately five minutes walk along the uphill road of the University of Truth.
3, [Fisherman's Wharf]
Freshwater Fisherman's Wharf was originally a traditional small fishing port. Today, Fisherman's Wharf not only has a beautiful floating pier, of which Fisherman's Wharf is the most famous. The sights are more than 330 meters of wooden plank roads and lovers bridge where lovers gather.

Solo Trip to Taiwan: Tamsui Old Street
#solotrip
During my solo trip to Taiwan, I spent some time exploring Tamsui Old Street. The street has a charming blend of delicious food stalls and a historical atmosphere that makes it a must-visit.
One of the highlights was trying the famous iron eggs – a must-try delicacy in Tamsui. The texture and flavor were so special, I couldn’t resist buying some as souvenirs. I also found a souvenir shop selling snacks that reminded me of childhood memories, along with keychains and postcards – great for gifts or keepsakes.
As I strolled along, I tried some local snacks like fried squid and fried prawns. The flavors were fresh and tasty, a real treat for seafood lovers. To end my day, I stopped by 83 Coffee for a relaxing coffee break. The cozy vibe of the café was the perfect way to unwind after exploring.
Tamsui Old Street is a wonderful place to soak in local culture, enjoy delicious food, and find unique souvenirs!

Tamsui Bicycle Trip
We had extra time in Taiwan and on the last day, we decided to go to Tamsui and ride bicycles around. Unexpectedly, the experience was awesome!
There is a specific bicycle lane, so we don't have to worry about hitting walkers or cars, and we really enjoy the scenery along the way.
We saw rainbows too, that actually added up the excitement.
The bicycles are easy to rent, we use Youbike (it's literally everywhere and have a lot of bike stations) and just use EasyCard after registering it on the website.

A Tranquil Escape at Tamsui Old Street
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tamsui Old Street, and it turned out to be the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the charm of Taipei’s waterfront. The moment you step out of the MRT station, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views of the river and distant mountains. The scenery alone, especially at sunset, makes the visit worthwhile, as the golden hues reflect off the water, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere.
The area has a laid-back vibe, with people fishing along the riverbanks, cyclists leisurely riding by, and families relaxing in the park. It’s a wonderful spot to simply sit back, soak in the views, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Strolling through the old street, I discovered an array of shops selling local delicacies, handicrafts, and souvenirs. From delicious street food to specialty snacks, the variety of offerings gives a taste of Taiwan’s rich culinary heritage.
Tamsui Old Street is more than just a tourist destination—it’s a place where you can experience the slower pace of life and connect with the local culture. Whether you’re there for the food, the scenery, or just to unwind, this riverside gem is a must-visit spot when in Taipei.

#Great Places in September 2024
📝Watching the sunset on Tamsui Old Street is really awesome! The sun sets slowly, illuminating the Tamsui River in a golden glow, which is very romantic. The breeze blows over, and the whole person feels very relaxed. It is recommended that everyone only spend half a day in Tamsui. In fact, apart from the old streets, there are many places worth paying attention to. Appreciate ✨

Taipei, Taichung, and Yilan Five-Day Trip
Traveling in Taiwan isn't just about visiting Taipei; you can also explore Taichung's Cingjing Farm or Yilan's Sanxing Township. 🧑🌾👨🌾
In the Taipei area, I highly recommend visiting Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf and Tamsui Old Street to enjoy the beautiful sunset. 🌅
For accommodation in Taichung, I highly recommend CityInn Hotel (Taichung Station Branch) 🏨: 📍Address: No. 133, Section 4, Fuxing Road, East District, Taichung City.
You can plan a two-day, one-night trip to Cingjing Farm and Sun Moon Lake.
In Yilan, you can visit Luodong and Sanxing Township, and Zhangmei Grandma's Farm. It's modeled after Nara in Japan and offers experiences like feeding deer 🦌 and sheep 🐑. There are also DIY workshops where you can make scallion pancakes 🫓, which can be enjoyed as breakfast or afternoon tea.

Tamsui's food streets and the downtown Citywalk.
You can get there in one shot by taking the MRT Red Line to Tamsui from Taipei Main Station, which seems to take about 35 minutes and you'll be there in no time.
As you start walking with Tamsui Station behind you along the Tamsui riverside path, the river and parks welcome you.
If you walk a little further, you'll come across countless snack shops, and a bit further, you'll find tourist spots like Fort San Domingo and more~
Most people come to see the sunset, but I recommend you come a bit earlier and also take a stroll through the downtown area.
You'll see the unique characteristics of the Tamsui area and have a snack time in the food alleys.

Tamsui old street ถนนคนเดินริมทะเล ไต้หวัน
Tamsui old street, a seaside walking street in Taiwan, not far from the city center, good atmosphere, lots of things to sell, both food, souvenirs, clothes. If you come here, don't miss Taiwanese egg cakes. There are 3 shops next to each other. The red shop in the middle looks the best seller.
There is a ferry to Bali Island. People like to ride bicycles along the sea.
If you come on a holiday, there will be a lot of tourists. There are a lot of people queuing to take the ferry. I recommend coming on weekdays. #Taipei #TravelTaiwan #Taipei

I will recommend going in the fall season as there are many events in Taipei during the season. Do bring along an umbrella as it rains often at that area.
