Street Food Heaven: Shilin Night Market Awaits
Shilin Market is a traditional night market with a wide array of vendors selling delicious local food and street food. There are also clothing stores and carnival game stores.
This is one of the largest night market in Taipei.
Getting there - You can take the Metro to nearby station.
Highlights -
1. Ah Hui Mian Xian
Enjoyed the oyster and intestine vermicelli, afforable and generous portions.
2. Hot Star Fried Chicken
You can't miss this huge crispy fried chicken, seasoned generouslly with chilli and pepper powder.
3. Grilled King Oyster Mushroom
Saw the extremely long queue and was curious. Oyster mushrooms were juicy and close to ten flavours to choose from.
4. Papaya milk shake
Saw so many shops selling this drink and had to try one. Creamy blend of milk and sweet papaya.
5. Pepper meat cake
Delicious stone oven baked pastry topped with fragrant sesame seeds and filled with juicy minced pork. I tried the kimchi one this time and it was delicious.

Taipei Night Market Recommendation - Shilin Night Market
One of the most vibrant and diverse experiences during my trip to Taipei was visiting the Shilin Night Market. This market is one of Taiwan's most famous night markets and is loved by both locals and tourists alike. In the evening, the market is filled with colorful lights and people, offering a wide variety of food and entertainment.
As soon as I entered the Shilin Night Market, the various food aromas stimulated my appetite. Taiwanese street food is incredibly diverse, and here you can taste famous local delicacies such as fried fish, Taiwanese-style hot dogs, savory sausages, oyster omelets, and Taiwanese xiaolongbao all in one place. Personally, the most impressive food was the 'stinky tofu.' At first, I was a bit surprised by its strong smell, but after taking a bite, I found its crispy texture and unique flavor quite appealing.
In addition to food, there are numerous shops where you can enjoy shopping for clothes, accessories, souvenirs, and more. The prices are reasonable, making it great for light shopping. The game booths and amusement facilities scattered throughout the market were also interesting. Playing simple games with local children especially allowed me to feel the lively atmosphere of the place.
Shilin Night Market is more than just a market; it's a space where you can experience the everyday life and culture of Taiwan. Tasting various foods, mingling with locals, and experiencing the warm hospitality of Taiwan were all part of its charm. If you visit Taipei, this is definitely a place worth checking out, especially at night when you can truly appreciate its essence.

Taiwan|Detailed guide for a solo female traveler's four-day, three-night trip to Taipei‼️
🔎Next, I will talk about my solo trip to Taipei daily itinerary and food details:
Day1: Taoyuan Airport-Taipei Main Station-Ximending
✔️After getting off Taoyuan Airport, I took a bus directly to Taipei Main Station (40 minutes, 150 Taiwan dollars). You can choose to stay near Taipei Main Station. I stayed in Ximending, one stop away from Taipei Main Station, and I ate and drank a lot in Ximending at night! Recommended food:
1. A Zong Rice Noodles🍜: The most popular one, the taste is great!
2. Small pepper squid soup: You must order braised pork rice!
3. Tiantianli: Their radish cake and oyster omelet are delicious!
Day2: National Taiwan University-Women's Bookstore-Shilin Night Market
✔️National Taiwan University is really big and beautiful, with quaint buildings, tall and long coconut boulevards and blooming greenery all over the campus, boys and girls riding bicycles chatting and laughing, it is really a campus idol drama! The Women's Bookstore is a few minutes' walk from NTU. It is a female-themed bookstore where girls can be whoever they want to be! I stayed there for an afternoon, quietly talking to Beauvoir and Woolf on a rainy afternoon in Taipei. I went to Shilin Night Market in the evening. The night market is similar to Ximending. You can buy whatever you want without any problems!
Day3: Tamsui High School-Tamsui Old Street-Tiaoshi Station
✔️ I went to Jay Chou's alma mater in the morning, but the high school is currently unable to enter. You can also check in at the Aletheia University next door, which is also very beautiful. Opposite the school is Fisherman's Wharf, the pine forest on the campus and the sea in the distance, the shoulders leaning against each other and the orange sunset. The students in the school are really happy! It takes a few minutes to walk to Tamsui Old Street. There are really many delicious foods here! ! ! After eating, you can take [962/963] from Tamsui Station to Tiaoshi Station (about an hour away). Behind Tiaoshi Station is the endless blue Pacific Ocean, which is worth a visit.
Day4: Museum-Shifen Station-Jiufen Station-Chifeng Street
✔️The museum is relatively close to Taipei Station, so you can go there to feel the depth of history. Shifen Station is to take the bus at Taipei Station and transfer at Ruifang. The journey takes about an hour (the ticket price is 68 Taiwan dollars). This is where Shen Jiayi released sky lanterns in those years. The price of sky lanterns is the same. You can choose the first or the last one, so that the background of the photo is cleaner. Then you can walk along the station to Shifen Waterfall, which is spectacular and cool. Then you can take a bus from Shifen Station to Jiufen or take the forest train back to Taipei. Jiufen is recommended to go at night, which has a Spirited Away feeling. Chifeng Street is a literary and artistic street district, and you can go to Citywalk for a while.
❤️Taipei is a place where the bustling urban feeling and the strong atmosphere of fireworks coexist. Here you can feel the simple and warm kindness of sincere Taipei people to strangers every day. They will greet you gently and take good care of you. At that time, I feel that I have become gentle because I am treated gently by the whole world. They will call you sister sweetly, just like family. This is the infinite charm of Taiwan

Shilin Night Market in Taipei: A Great Place to Explore and Feast
When it comes to Taipei's night markets, Shilin Night Market is a must-mention😍. It's a large area where you can eat, drink, play, and have fun. It's conveniently accessible by MRT, arriving at Jiantan Station, and it's perfect for eating while strolling around. There are also sit-down restaurants available🥢.
Shilin Night Market is famous for its street food like the local grilled chicken steak, Hai You spareribs, Xiao Ji grilled meat rolls, spicy cold noodles, and Zhongchenghao oyster omelette...
This time I tried the Hao Da Da chicken chop. Although it's available in Hong Kong, it's half the price here😆. I got a big bottle of Taiwanese herbal tea without sugar to cool down, which was quite good👍🏻. The happy sweet potato balls are really tasty, especially with plum powder😋. The fresh milk egg cake with custard filling is also good, but you have to wait a bit since it's made to order.
🛍️There are many shops selling clothes and shoes with a range of prices, both affordable and expensive. The game stalls are indoors with air conditioning, but I'm more interested in the gashapon shops😍. They have a lot of the latest chiikawa gashapon, and it's about 200 Taiwan dollars for a spin🫶🏻.

In Taiwan, instead of heading to the many cafes and restaurant, one thing that you should never miss out is the night markets located around the city of taipei. Of course, Shilin Night Market is the night market that both locals and foreigners are well aware off when visiting taipei. Shilin is popular since it is located in the heart of taipei and is located around many schools, therefore attracting the many locals. The prices in the food street here in Shilin are also much lower than the ones sold in the mall and plus, the vendors cook the food fresh right infront of your eyes.
Make sure you come here with an empty stomach, because there is too many stall vendors here and im sure one night wont be able for you to try each and every stall. Shilin market is open everyday and it is located at: No. 101, Jihe Rd, Shilin District, Taipei City, Taiwan 111

The Iconic Shilin Night Market, Tapei
I always heard of shilin frid chicken, shilin night Market and finally I had the chance to visit this iconic, well talked about by friends especially those who went to Taiwan for army.
Shilin Night Market is located at No. 101, Jihe Road, Shilin District in Taipei City and is open daily from 4pm till midnight, but I do recommend to come maybe abit later as most of the stalls open closer to dinner time. You will see the crowds start coming in slowly especially when the sunsets and the Market lights comes up! Go for the popular stuff, like your fried chicken, meesua, oyster egg or oyster omelette, potato and cheese and bubble tea.
Oh and also, there is this temple situated right in the middle of shilin night Market, not sure why but I know most people comes here and sit around the area while enjoying the snacks, the temple peeps won't chase you away so don't worry!

Shilin Night Market
Often considered to be the largest and most famous night market in Taiwan.
Shilin Night Market is accessible via the Tamsui–Xinyi line (Taipei Metro) at Jiantan Station.
Starts to get crowded by 6pm with lots of tourists and locals. This round I want feature the soup shop. As I went during winter time, the weather is still chilling at night. You can’t stop but to try the interesting foodies along the street.
Shilin is also popular to have many items to buy. I did my normal shopping of phone accessories. Cute and cute and cute! Of course, not that expensive. Super reasonable price .
Shilin opens till around 12am , good for night owls like me.

Summer Taiwan night market shopping guide, the original per capita 40 yuan can also support!
When I first came to Taipei, I was lost in the ocean of all kinds of food. If you say the most impressive, it is probably the Shilin Night Market. As a must-see for tourists, it is small but full of all kinds of authentic snacks. It smells enough to make the population water.
For example, you will eat an addictive big cake package, which is crispy and tender inside, and the materials are super-real; the rice noodles from Fujian are rich in medicinal taste, but the taste is delicious...
/ Hh/ There are also those weird raw fritters, frog laying eggs, fried crab feet, sea bream meat... want to unlock the Taiwanese nightlife, of course, start from the street delicious!
Tips: Locally famous snacks include Arnold Crepes, Beigang Beancurd, and Cow Devil's Steak... The price is between NT30-60. It is recommended to stay in the city center and walk on foot, not only to appreciate the night, but also to eat after meals.

Feast at Shilin Night Market: A Culinary Journey in Taipei
At Taipei's Shilin Night Market, the bright lights and bustling crowds create a vivid picture of urban life. As I stepped into the night market, the lively atmosphere immediately enveloped me, with the air filled with the tantalizing aromas of various snacks, making my mouth water. The vendors' shouts echoed around, seemingly inviting every visitor to savor the city's delicacies.
I wandered among the stalls, first drawn to the steaming hot salted crispy chicken, with its crispy exterior and tender interior that made me an instant fan. Next, the colorful fruit smoothies caught my eye, their fresh fruity aroma and icy texture adding a refreshing touch to the lively night. And let's not forget the fragrant stinky tofu, with its unique taste that, when paired with special sauces, becomes irresistible.
In this vibrant night market, I not only tasted various delicious foods but also felt the warmth and vitality of Taipei. The surrounding stalls were filled with laughter and chatter, immersing me in a feast of flavors. This unique night market experience not only satisfied my taste buds but also gave me a deeper understanding of Taipei's culture. As I left, my heart was filled with satisfaction and joy, eagerly anticipating my next visit to explore this delicious paradise.

Taipei, Taiwan|Shilin Night Market "siam thai massage"
#Great Places in September 2024
📝How can I find a massage when traveling? After a whole day of walking around Shilin Night Market, I ended this perfect day with a comfortable Thai essential oil massage! Today, I experienced a two-hour essential oil massage for NT$1,700. At the beginning, I would soak my feet and do some simple massage, and then enter the private room and start the oil massage. The masters here are all authentic Thais. They have no problem communicating in simple Chinese and the strength is just right. After pressing it, I felt very relaxed. Highly recommended!

Taipei, Taiwan|Must-eat "BBQ King Oyster Mushroom" at Shilin Night Market
#Great Places in September 2024
📝This King Oyster Mushroom has a long queue every day. Because it is charcoal grilled, the waiting time will be a little longer, but it doesn’t matter because the charcoal grill locks in the moisture and every bite is juicy. It is super delicious! There are 9 flavors on site, and you can choose 2 flavors for each portion
The flavor options include wasabi, spicy seven-flavor, original salt and pepper, lemon seaweed, cumin, black pepper, curry, and rose salt. My friend and I chose the spicy seven-flavor & lemon flavor. The lemon is freshly squeezed. The Spicy Seven Flavors are seriously quite spicy, so friends who are afraid of spicy food are advised to choose carefully. Each portion is $100 NT dollars and can be shared with friends who go to Shilin Night Market~

Three-Day Trip in Taipei
The three-day trip in Taipei left a deep impression on me! First, the spectacular view from Taipei 101 was breathtaking, and taking the observation deck to enjoy the cityscape was definitely worth it. Next, the delicious food at Shilin Night Market was a feast for my taste buds, with the oyster omelet and bubble tea being particularly tasty. On the third day, I visited the National Palace Museum, where I felt the rich history and culture of China. The convenient transportation and the friendly locals made me feel the warmth of the city. Overall, this trip left me with wonderful memories of Taipei, and I look forward to visiting again!

Shilin Night Market
🥢King Oyster Mushroom BBQ~ Always a long queue every time I go, the grilled king oyster mushrooms are juicy and delicious! There are 9 flavors to choose from, and each person can choose 2 flavors. I love the lemon and seaweed flavors!
🥢Jia Xiang Cold Noodles & Fragrant Fried Stinky Tofu~ The stinky tofu is cut into four pieces, each piece is fried until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with pickled vegetables + spicy sauce, so tasty 😋 Sesame sauce cold noodles~ Although the ingredients are simple (cucumber strips + ham strips), the sesame sauce is rich and the noodles are refreshing!
Ningxia Night Market
🥢Circle Edge Oyster Omelette~ Fell in love with the oyster omelette at first try, didn't like the sauce on the oyster omelette before, but the sauce here is sweet and sour, and the oysters are fresh! Also, when it's cold, having a bowl of pepper clam soup warms the heart.
🥤Childhood Papaya Milk~ I love to order avocado milkshake with added pudding, very silky, not greasy at all!
Ling Guang Street Night Market
🥢Ya Kou·Tian Xiang Stinky Tofu~ The second stinky tofu shop I love, the whole block of tofu can be fried until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, must be served with special spicy sauce, can eat for several nights without getting tired of it!

Life in Taiwan, China during the 1980s: A bustling and charming existence on a small island
🎞️Traveling back to the 1980s in Taiwan, China, is like stepping into an old movie filled with charm. At that time, Taiwan Province had both the bustle of the city and the tranquility of a small island, with each place exuding its unique allure.
🌆In the streets of Taipei, traffic bustled and neon lights flickered. In the alleys, the aroma of street food stalls wafted through the air, tempting passersby to stop and taste. The night markets of that era were a microcosm of Taiwan's nightlife, offering a variety of foods and trinkets, and were a favorite gathering place for locals.
🌾In the countryside, fields were lush and green. Farmers toiled and rejoiced in the harvest. The streams in the fields, with their babbling brooks, reflected the blue sky and white clouds, offering a sense of peace and contentment.
📚Culturally, the 1980s in Taiwan, China, was also a period of prosperity for literature and the arts. Bookstores were filled with works by local Taiwanese authors, whose words expressed love and longing for the land. At concerts, singers told their stories through song, enchanting the audience.
👩🎓On campuses, students wore uniforms and carried backpacks, moving between classrooms and libraries. Education at that time emphasized the cultivation of character and abilities, laying a solid foundation for the students.
💻Technological advancements also brought revolutionary changes to Taiwan Province in the 1980s. Computers began to spread, people started to access the internet, and connected with the world.
🌺The 1980s in Taiwan, China, was an era full of charm and allure. Life back then was simple and pure, filled with hope and anticipation for the future. If you had the chance to return to that era, you would surely be captivated by its prosperity and charm, leaving you with unforgettable memories.

Taipei Shilin Night Market
Enjoyed ourself during our trip to Taipei Shilin night market, mid March is still having nice cooling weather of 15-17 degrees during day time. Try out many foods around Shilin market. Prices had increased since our last trip back in 2018, guess since covid 19 reopen alot of hotel, food and local produce had increased 30%. Overalls is still a nice place to shop and walking around for these local foods👍
