Strolling through the Historic Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka Paths
Strolling through the historic Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka paths in Kyoto, one can feel the serene Japanese atmosphere. The stone-paved roads, flanked by traditional wooden buildings, exude a sense of history. The small shops selling handicrafts and snacks add to the joy of the journey. As you walk and explore, you can feel the tranquility of time passing by. Take a break at a corner teahouse and enjoy a cup of matcha, as if intertwining with the times of the ancient capital. This experience of blending classical and modern elements in your travel story brings a sense of peace and freedom.

Kyoto at 06:30 AM on the path to Kiyomizu-dera.
Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka are areas where you can feel the essence of ancient Kyoto, and they are designated as Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons is very popular. During the day, it gets very crowded with tourists, but early in the morning, it was still relatively quiet. The view of Hokan-ji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda) from this area is a must-see when you visit Kyoto.

Woke up at 4:00 AM to capture the ambiance of cherry blossoms in Kyoto, Japan, which is the ceiling of atmosphere
Some say 'Kyoto is in Japan, but the real Japan is in Kyoto.'
There are many cherry blossoms in Japan, either in clusters or a particularly large one in a courtyard style.
And the most famous among them is the century-old cherry tree at Sanneizaka in Kyoto.
To shoot the blue hour cherry blossom scene, one must wake up early, get up at 4 AM and arrive by 5 AM.
There are hardly any people shooting, most are around Yasaka Pagoda.
The beauty is visible to the naked eye, live photos straight out.
By 6 AM, it starts to get crowded, and by 6:30, it's practically overflowing.
(Kyoto is really competitive! 😭 Many people might not even be up by 6:30!)
-
📍Location: Ninenzaka Sannenzaka, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, 2 Chome Kiyomizu
🎫Admission: Free
Shooting Date: March 29, 2024 (Currently in full bloom, viewing period is 2 weeks)
🚗Transportation: Navigate to 'Myohoyenotei', take bus routes 202, 206, or 207 to Kiyomizu-michi Station
‼️Recommended Route: Ninenzaka Sannenzaka ➡️ Yasaka Pagoda ➡️ Kiyomizu-dera ➡️ Hanami-koji ➡️ Yasaka Shrine
-
◽️Tips:
☑️ Ninenzaka Sannenzaka, Yasaka Tower Kiyomizu-dera, are unique street landscapes of Kyoto.
The shops along the street and the visitors wearing kimonos make you feel as if you've traveled back to the shogunate era.
☑️ The sightseeing route I recommend is along the way, and if you want to see cherry blossoms, you can also go to Kyoto Imperial Palace and Kamo River, which are both in full bloom right now.
☑️Kyoto's cherry blossom season is very crowded, so it's advised to go out early and return early for a much better experience.

Kyoto, Totoro Shop/Ghibli Shop 🧹
This is the Totoro shop in Kyoto!
It's located on the way up to Kiyomizu-dera Temple ~!
It was full of cute Ghibli dolls ㅠㅠ
I almost lost my mind and became empty 😂
When I came in, there were cute items, dolls, and photo zones, so I had fun walking around 🤩 Which Ghibli movie character do you like the most ~?
If you go to Kyoto, I recommend going to the Totoro shop ☺️

Kimono is one of the most amazing outfits in Japan, especially when the old paths got full of elegant people wearing kimonos and strolling along the city.

If you would like to see traditional Japanese houses and stunning temples, you should visit Kyoto. You can see Geishas walking around with their traditional costumes and if you’re lucky you may be able to capture a photo of them.

Golden hour in Kyoto, in front of the famous Yasaka Pagodo. This picturesque Buddhist temple was so magical to see during sunset, especially with all the girls dressed up in their colorful Geisha outfits!

🛄🇯🇵Must-haves for traveling: Luggage preparation list
📱First, let’s consider the communication issue. Make sure you have an international calling card or a mobile phone card that can be used in Japan. In addition, bring a mobile phone charger, after all, taking pictures and navigation are inseparable from mobile phones.
🌍Next, the power sockets in Japan are different from those in many countries, so you may need to bring a plug converter. This ensures that your electronic devices can be charged smoothly there.
📂Then we need to consider the issue of documents. Since Japan is a country that requires a visa, please make sure to bring your passport, visa and other important documents with you instead of discovering that you have forgotten them just before departure.
👕🧣 Let’s talk about clothing. The temperature in Japan in November is variable, and the temperature difference may be large throughout the day, so please refer to the layering method so that you can flexibly adjust even if the temperature changes. Hats and scarves are also a must.
In terms of maintenance, long-distance flights and jet lag may cause discomfort, so it is a good idea to prepare some supplies that are suitable for you, as well as sunscreen. Even in winter, the sun in Japan is quite strong.
🎒Finally, don’t forget to bring a backpack suitable for visiting Japanese attractions. For example, if you plan to go hiking or visit temples, it is recommended to choose a backpack that is convenient and comfortable. While you enjoy the view, protect your personal belongings.

Unique Building Architecture in Ninenzaka & Sannenzaka, Kyoto
#traveldiaries
Kyoto’s old town, especially around Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, is filled with traditional wooden machiya houses. These narrow streets showcase Edo-period architecture with wooden facades, tiled roofs, and stone pathways, offering a glimpse of Japan’s cultural heritage.
The Starbucks in Ninenzaka is a standout, housed in a restored machiya, blending seamlessly with the old-town aesthetic. It features tatami mat seating and wooden interiors, preserving the traditional look while offering a modern coffee experience.
This fusion of modern and historical elements makes Kyoto’s old town a unique destination for those seeking both culture and a distinctive coffee break.

🏯 Dream come true in Kyoto
#ancienttown
Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka is one of my favourite places here in Kyoto. Never thought that I would have this chance to see this lovely piece of view with my own eyes!
The crowd was crazy and people are walking close to each other. There are a lot of stores by the side walk ranging from snacks, food, beverages, fashion clothes, souvenir and even kimono rental.
Strongly recommend to come by here! And please be really really early (7-8am)
