Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca 🇮🇹
#churches
I recently visited the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca in Bologna, and it was one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I’ve been to. 🌿 Perched on a hill just outside the city, the sanctuary is famous for its long, arched portico that stretches for almost 4 kilometers from the city up to the church. The walk up through the portico is free and definitely worth it if you’re up for a bit of exercise—it’s an experience in itself with 666 arches guiding you along.
Once I reached the top, the sanctuary was breathtaking, both for its serene atmosphere and the stunning view of Bologna below. There’s no entrance fee to the sanctuary, but if you want to climb the dome for an even better panoramic view, it costs about 5 euros. Inside, the church is beautiful, filled with art and a real sense of peace.
Nearby, you can explore the lush hills or take a quick trip back into Bologna to visit Piazza Maggiore and other historic sights. Definitely worth the hike if you’re in Bologna!

Group Travel in Bologna: A Perfect Day in Italy’s Culinary Capital
#grouptravel Bologna, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and renowned cuisine, is the ideal destination for a group trip. As we arrived in this charming Italian city, we were greeted by its signature terracotta rooftops and medieval towers. Our first stop was the iconic Piazza Maggiore, where the group marveled at the grand architecture of the Basilica di San Petronio and the historic Palazzo del Podestà. The square was bustling with life, and we enjoyed a leisurely walk through its cobbled streets, taking in the lively atmosphere.
No trip to Bologna would be complete without indulging in its world-famous food. Together, we headed to one of the traditional trattorias in the heart of the city to savor local specialties like tagliatelle al ragù (Bolognese sauce) and tortellini in brodo. The communal dining experience, with its shared plates and lively conversation, made the meal even more memorable. In the afternoon, we climbed the Asinelli Tower, where panoramic views of the city rewarded us for our efforts. The day wrapped up with a relaxed stroll through Bologna’s famous porticoes, providing the perfect end to a fun-filled day of exploration and connection with friends in one of Italy’s most inviting cities.
