A Late Merry Christmas at Tokyo's Roppongi Christmas Market
This year, I visited the Christmas market in Roppongi, Tokyo. The Roppongi Hills attempted to recreate the world's largest Christmas market from Stuttgart, Germany. However, I was a bit disappointed as the market was quite small, with only 4 or 5 little stalls.
Each stall had long queues of people. The introduction mentioned over 2,000 types of goods, which seemed to refer to the numerous small ornaments, as one stall could easily have 2,000 items. My friends and I left after less than 15 minutes. Although there were promised delicacies and mulled wine, the lines were too long, so we opted to see the lights near the station instead. The silver-blue neon lights were stunning and perfect for photos.
However, the Tokyo Tower at night was lit in Christmas-themed colors, with the top in orange-red and the bottom in green-blue, which was quite amusing. Three years ago, I visited Sapporo, Hokkaido, during winter. The Christmas market there was huge, and we spent an entire afternoon exploring it. There were plenty of delicacies and many exquisite decorations, along with snow sculptures nearby. I recommend anyone wanting to experience a rich Christmas atmosphere in Japan to visit Hokkaido.

The Latest Attraction in Roppongi, Japan
📍Address: 52nd Floor, Roppongi Hills Observation Deck, Minato City, Tokyo, Japan
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Indoor 360-degree observation deck
🕰️Business Hours: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
💰Average Cost: $65/person
With an online buy-one-get-one-free offer, the average cost per person is only a few dozen dollars to visit the latest observation deck. Arriving in the evening, it is quite convenient to walk from the subway station. If you have time during the day, you can also visit the nearby art museum. The overall ticket exchange and entry process is simple, and the night view of Tokyo is spectacular, with the Tokyo Tower standing out brightly. Although there are quite a few visitors, it does not hinder taking photos, and you can easily capture top-notch scenic shots. On the other side, there is a large screen displaying related information, and you can sit down and rest for a while. Near the exit, there are some souvenirs available for purchase. Overall, apart from the relatively small venue, everything else is quite satisfactory.

Tokyo's Roppongi Keyakizaka: A Must-See Christmas Illumination Spot
Location: Roppongi Hills or pinpoint (photo spot) Roppongi Keyakizaka
Transportation: Hibiya Line 1C exit, Oedo Line No. 3 exit
Admission: Free
Roppongi Hills annually hosts a grand Christmas event, lighting up Roppongi Keyakizaka with about 800,000 LEDs and drawing millions of visitors. Public transport is advised due to the crowds, with the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and Toei Oedo Line being the most convenient options. The Roppongi 'Giant Spider' landmark is visible upon exiting the escalator. Lights decorate the path, and following the crowd prevents getting lost.
The winter illumination event runs from early November to Christmas Day, from 17:00 to 23:00. The official site lists four prime photo spots, with spot C offering a frame with the Tokyo Tower. Despite the crowds, orderliness prevails as people take turns to photograph.
Further down Roppongi Keyakizaka Street, the walkway is lined with international brands, offering a safe and picturesque setting for Christmas photos, solidifying its status as a key Tokyo lighting event.

Tokyo after sunset is particularly suitable for photographing the Tokyo Tower
If you want to see the panoramic night view of Tokyo, the Shibuya Sky observation deck is crowded with people, and it's also hard to book during sunset. Consider these two places! They are not crowded and great for photos!
🌟Roppongi Hills Observation Deck
① An observation deck close to the Tokyo Tower, many people instinctively avoid the ugly building on the left side of the frame (it really looks like a mini version of Shanghai's White Magnolia Plaza)
② The observation deck has two levels; the 52nd floor is indoors, where you can enjoy almost a 360-degree view of Tokyo, but be mindful of the glass reflection when taking photos
③ Tickets: 2200 yen for adults, which can be purchased at the entrance on the 3rd floor, or booked on Ctrip. An additional ticket for the rooftop observation deck is required on the 52nd floor, which costs 500 yen
④ The rooftop observation deck does not allow bags, tripods, etc. There is a storage area at the entrance to the 52nd floor, where you can store items for 100 yen (which will be refunded when retrieving your bag)
⑤ On clear days, you can see Mount Fuji🗻.
⚠️Reminder: Don't rush directly into the building to get to the observation deck, go to the entrance on the left side of the building and take the elevator to the 3rd floor
🕙Hours: Open from 10:00 to 22:00, and entry stops at 19:30
🌟Ebisu Garden Place Observation Deck
❶ Free!!! Less crowded!!!
❷ The 38th floor observation deck is indoors, but the indoor lighting is not very bright, which greatly reduces the reflection of the glass
❸ The observation deck offers free photography; scan the QR code and follow the instructions to take three free photos, so no worries if you're alone and have no one to take pictures. However, the prompt music during photography is quite loud, which can be a bit embarrassing for those with social anxiety.
❹ From this angle at Ebisu Garden Place, you can avoid the ugly building next to the Tokyo Tower, but it's a bit far from the Tokyo Tower, so you need a telephoto lens to take a good photo. It's tough with a smartphone
⚠️Reminder: After coming out of JR Ebisu Station, enter the building from the right side door and take the elevator directly to the 38th floor

I would like to call it the best photography spot for the Tokyo Tower
Location: Roppongi Hills
There are many high-altitude observation decks in Tokyo, the most famous of which are probably Roppongi Hills and Shibuya's shibuya sky. The biggest difference between the two is that from the Shibuya observation deck, you can see both the Skytree and the Tokyo Tower, while from Roppongi Hills, you can only see the Tokyo Tower.
Nevertheless, I personally feel that Roppongi Hills is superior and can be called the best photography spot for the Tokyo Tower.
Admission to the observation deck requires a ticket, which costs 100+ RMB, and it shares an entrance with the Mori Art Museum. There is a place to store bags, and large photography equipment is not allowed.
It is recommended to go up around 18:00 to secure a spot in advance and to immerse yourself in the day-to-night transformation of the tower and the city.
From the bright white of the morning porridge to the blue sky of the evening, and then to the dark orange of the night, the entire cityscape of Tokyo unfolds before your eyes.
After taking photos on the observation deck, there is also an indoor area where you can view the city's night scene through the glass.

Winter illumination in Roppongi
This is Keyakizaka street in Roppongi where the trees are covered in 800,000 white and blue LED lights during Christmas. The lights are illuminated between 5pm-11pm daily.
There's always a man with a megaphone at the pedestrian cross walk making sure people don’t block the road when the light is green, because there’s lots of people trying to take photos in the street. I recommend heading up the the pedestrian bridge that’s connected to the Roppongi Hills Arena for a birds eye view of the lights and also Tokyo Tower in the background.
Keep heading through the mall to the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower where the giant spider sculpture is and you’ll find some rainbow lights adorning the trees. There’s some more look out points to the city and Tokyo Tower in this area. While you’re here you may as well do some shopping with most major brands including Zara available here. #Tokyo

🇯🇵 Must go to Roppongi Hills
This place is must-go, a vibrant neighbourhood and fine dining is right here at Roppongi. There are also many nice hotels around here and you can try out Ritz Carlton and Intercontinental Hotels. In Roppongi, you can find many high end omakase restaurants too. This is the mecca for finest dining experience in Tokyo. There are also many touts around here who will ask you to go in to have a drink. If you are alone then it is better to avoid the drinking street area. Roppongi station is also one of the main stations along Hibiya line and there are many entrances and exits here. You can consider staying in this area instead of the usual Shinjuku and Shibuya areas.

🇯🇵 Roppongi Doraemon pop up
This is a Doraemon pop-up event in Tokyo located at Roppongi Hills Metro Hat / Hollywood Plaza and the nearest station is Roppongi station. The exact Doraemon event was at National Museum of Singapore previously. Now it came to Tokyo and they are so adorable. There are no charges for this pop-up event and anyone can come. You will recognize this Roppongi Hills Metro Hat / Hollywood Plaza shopping easily from its conical shape which resemble our Wheellock Place in Singapore too. The weather in Tokyo is sunny in August but it is not humid so I also did not sweat much. I enjoy outdoor places and hunting down free exhibits.

Tokyo night, illumination in Roppongi Hills✨
When the Christmas comes, the streets of Tokyo will be illuminated brilliantly. One of the most favorite places is Roppongi Hills illumination.
Each year, the 400m of Keyakizaka Street behind Roppongi Hills becomes one of the most popular couples’ strolling spots with brilliant blue LEDs decorating the trees and Tokyo Tower providing the perfect backdrop.
I recommend you to come here at around 9-9:30pm when it’s less crowded and you can slowly walk down the Keyakizaka street and enjoy the illumination✨
Besides Roppongi Hills, there’re many illumination places such as Roku-Roku Plaza illumination, Mohri Garden illumination, Christmas market and so on for you to enjoy the Christmas in Roppongi.
Save this post for your trip to Tokyo in December 🥰#tripblazers #mytripvlog #awesomepic #celebratewithtrip #passionpassport #2023travelwish #couplestrip #japan #japan #六本木 #東京 #tokyo

The Roppongi Hills Observatory is one of the city's attractions in Tokyo and the best place to enjoy the Tokyo Tower. The large ceiling with a ceiling height of more than 11 meters and the open cloister overlooking the street are not covered by the surrounding buildings. When you are far away, you can enjoy the view of the bustling Tokyo city. The famous Asahi TV station is next to it.
Of course, the most beautiful is the roof of the top floor. SKY DECK, the highest open-air prospecting facility in Kanto (270 meters above sea level), can really feel the wind blowing over Tokyo and overlook the charming night view of Tokyo.

Take the subway to Roppongi Station, there are many delicious shops, but three of us 4 people are difficult to choose, and two of them have reached the point where they are sick, so they decided to stay in the street after several laps. Call CARAT's restaurant to eat.
We ordered 4 cups of hot water, a seafood risotto, a beef rice, a green vegetable, and a beef.
Seafood risotto is very fresh, especially sea urchin, tender and sweet, delicious and delicious!
Green vegetables are cold salad, add sesame oil in it, do not want to be fragrant!
Fatmei beef has tender flesh and tenderness, short oil, good~
The restaurant has one for each person, it tastes like kelp, but it is also very silky. Its slippery and tastes, its not delicious, but its definitely not difficult to eat.

The street lights of Roppongi Hills are usually started in early November and are terminated after the annual New Year. The practice established here in 2004 has been 12 years old. During the streetlight show, from 5:00 to -11 every night, the street lights will change from blue to red when the hour and the half point.
From the Roppongi Hills of the Roppongi Hills, take the exit to the ground and walk for about 3 minutes. The viewing platform for street lights is located here.
A whole street, the trees on both sides are entangled with a gradual light bulb, the part of the trunk is dark blue, and the branches are light blue to white. Although there is no spectacle in the imagination, but there is a feeling of a snowy kingdom. The Tokyo Tower, which is exposed on the street, is covered with a thin veil today, and it seems to add a sense of dreaminess.
After a few minutes, the street lights turned dark; when the all-lighted lights were re-lighted again, the blue lines became red. Now the part of the trunk is whiteish pink and the branches are bright red. At first, I may feel a little surprised at first sight. After seeing more than two eyes, I feel that this color is more festive.
If you travel to Tokyo at a non-year-end New Year's time, then the Roppongi Hills are also worth a visit. The 52nd floor of Mori Building, the tallest building here, has a 360-degree glass wall landscape platform and can see all the landmarks of Tokyo. The most invincible place in Tokyo to see the night scene is definitely not here.

We had a great holiday in Japan on this autumn period. We saw luminance lighting decoration when we visited the Roppongi hills. We had great food and enjoyed the culture here. This was our first time traveling with a toddler and to this beautiful Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, and Kyoto. My toddler was super excited on exploring different places with this chilling weather. #travel #familytravel #localfood #japan

Roppongi Christmas 2022 has begun
Yesterday, I saw on TV that the Christmas lights at Roppongi Hills have been lit. So, I immediately planned to spend my last night in Tokyo visiting Roppongi to see it in person. It was truly magical. I wish they could light up an entire street like in Osaka.
Three years ago, when I traveled to Osaka, I coincidentally encountered their light festival, which was incredibly beautiful! I wonder if Tokyo will have a similar light festival. I'm flying back to Taiwan tomorrow, and I hope to experience the Christmas atmosphere there as well. Good night!
