2. Write a Wish on a Sky Lantern and Release It in Shifen, Taiwan
Address: 226, New Taipei City, Pingxi District, Taiwan
Highlights: Shifen in Taiwan is a must-visit tourist spot. Writing a wish on a sky lantern and releasing it into the sky is a calming yet exciting experience. Many people release lanterns together, creating a spectacular view. In the evening, the sight of countless lanterns floating in the sky is truly beautiful. The sky lantern experience is easily accessible right next to the station, and you can choose from a variety of lanterns at nearby shops. It's a perfect place to create special memories, and I highly recommend it.

😋 Raohe street night market
#nightmarkets #100WaysOfTravel
One of the popular night markets to visit for tourists to Taipei, Raohe night market. You can come here easily with the public bus and metro train. It is a short walk from the famous wholesale fashion market too. So you can combine 2 visits together. There are 2 entrances here and the temple entrance is the more popular and most crowded. Here you can also find many Michelin recommended eateries. Bring cash with you for payment, it is easier. Else you can explore LINE pay but you will need a local Taiwanese number.

The Beauty of Taiwan's Food and Strolls
Visiting Taiwan, the night markets are an experience not to be missed. This time I came to Raohe Night Market in Taipei, which is filled with an atmosphere of longing. The night market boasts a dazzling array of delicacies, and although it's only a short 20-minute walk, each one is worth recommending. The photos capture the deliciousness I've tasted, especially recommending the pepper buns, the kumquat lemon is very refreshing, and the rib crisps are also fragrant. There's also the ice and fire glutinous rice balls worth lining up for, the unique combination of rice wine with ice and sesame rice balls has a distinctive flavor. Sweet potato balls and taro cakes should be eaten while hot, or the texture will be less enjoyable. Stinky tofu and medicinal braised ribs are very fragrant, but I was too full to eat more, leaving them for next time. Additionally, Yu Zhen Xin's cream puffs, sun cakes, and beef jerky sugar are great as souvenirs.
Then I went with friends to Tuen Mun, passing through a village estate with numerous shops and a variety of food and groceries. We tried a Taiwanese restaurant there, spacious and comfortable with music playing, adding to the ambiance. We tasted oyster omelets, garlic stir-fried lettuce, signature beef noodles in soy sauce, crispy rib vegetable rice, signature drunken chicken rolls, clay pot dumplings with chicken stew, pearl milk tea shaved ice, and Long Long Honey Honey special drink, each with its own unique flavor, leaving a lasting impression.
Afterward, we started our journey to Kaohsiung. In the morning, we arrived at Taoyuan and took the high-speed train to Kaohsiung. Unfortunately, I didn't win the Jin Fu Qi draw, and there was no one-day offer for the SIM card, so I had to buy a three-day one, and on the last day, I was forced to activate international roaming. In Kaohsiung, there were some 'free' records where the step count doubled. For example, two kids were repairing the roof at Pier-2; the pure white carousel at Stack 2 Warehouse was removed; the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas at Lotus Pond were under maintenance; and the jadeite cabbage at the National Palace Museum was not on display. However, there were also some doubled happiness with delicious food and drinks. The fish belly soup at Dagouding Milkfish Vermicelli Soup was very tasty; Gangyuan Beef Noodles were affordable and initially delicious; Dahua Milk Tea with half sugar was very drinkable, and sweet lovers thought it could be even sweeter. Yanchengpu Night Market is only open on Saturdays, super delicious, with few stalls but all are essence, and the prices are incredibly cheap! The spicy and sour duck feet are absolutely amazing. There's also authentic duck rice, crispy stinky tofu at Ruifeng Night Market, saltwater chicken, and more. The clear broth beef noodles at Liu Shan Dong Beef Noodles in Taipei are also very fragrant.
This trip for the working people was super rushed, a hurried three days in the south, and although the one-day trip to Tainan didn't yield much delicious food, I saw the stunning Ten Drum performance and beautiful sunset. On the last day, I hurried back to Taipei and visited the National Palace Museum. With a journey of thirty thousand steps a day, it was fortunate that Kaohsiung was cheap and delicious. The shops didn't open in the morning, but the hotel included breakfast, which was also very satisfying. I will come again! But next time, I'll avoid the Dadong Night Market in Tainan, which is expensive and not tasty. 🥹

Taipei's earliest sightseeing night market
📝Taiwan Travelogue part8: Raohe Street Sightseeing Night Market📝
🖼🖼🖼🖼
Raohe Sightseeing Night Market is the earliest sightseeing night market in Taipei, with its own glittering archway. The entire length is about 600 meters, but the stalls are very dense, basically forming two paths on the left and right within 600 meters, so the actual effect should be about 1200 meters. The recommended delicacies by Taipei's official tourism website are oyster vermicelli, medicinal braised ribs, braised dishes, beef offal noodles, frozen desserts, and traditional tofu pudding. Personally, I think it's all about serendipity, just go with whatever you see.
🍧🍧🍧🍧
On this street, I bought grilled squid, saw cute handmade pastries and bought some, couldn't resist the cool flames and got some dice beef, had a handmade popsicle, and then a bowl of taro ball dessert. Saw braised duck blood and tofu and had a bowl, and finally when the craving for instant noodles hit, I also had a bowl of instant noodle wontons.
📷📷📷📷
Here, it's basically possible to find a seat to eat, there are some shops on both sides, and many stalls also have seating available, unlike Ningxia Night Market where you can basically only stand and eat.
Like other night markets in Taiwan, in addition to snack stalls, there are many other small shops here, selling souvenirs, small bags. There are fortune tellers with moles, and those traditional old-school game stalls. I noticed that these small shops all have a little clip to hold the plastic wrapper for disposable chopsticks and straws, which feels like a thoughtful little design.

Authentic Taipei Food Experience
Raohe Night Market is one of the traditional night markets in Taipei and is a must visit to get an authentic taste of taiwanese food. There are plenty of stalls in the night market to choose from and try out.
The entrance arch of the night market also very instaworthy so remember to take a few shots there.
Alright, speaking about food experience in Raohe, there’s one thing which is a die die must-try is the PEPPER BUNS ! Their pepper buns really is piping hot juice oozing out from the bite; WARNING: is really piping hot so be aware. Other food to try is smelly tofu and fried milk curds.

Lots of food! It's mostly a 2 lane street walk.
So you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane. Set aside about 2 hrs to complete the route (including eating time).
There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main draw is clearly the food.
When in doubt on what to eat, just join the queue :)
Didn't see any toilets around so you may want to go before you go.
Tip: Come around 6pm as Stalls only start to set up at around 5:30pm.

Raohe night market has many many good stalls!
There are food stall on the both side of the walkway, you can walk down one lane with stalls flanking both sides and do a loop back to visit stores in the parallel lane.
There are some clothing and toy stores as well. But the main thing here is clearly the food. Most of the good food will have a long queue despite is drizzling.
This 2 food are my personal favourite! Rice Dumping on ice and Pepper meat bun!
One thing to take note that there are no toilet available in the night market so the nearest one will be at the metro station!

Address - Raohe St, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 105
105台北市松山區饒河街
Highlights - Raohe Night Market is one of famous and most visited night markets in Taipei. You could walk here from Songshan Metro Station in less than 5 minutes. Try the famous Fuzhou Ancestor Pepper Pie 福州世祖胡椒餅 located right at the entrance gate. It is fragrant when eaten piping hot. However, I observed that the filling has reduced from my previous visit 5 years ago. The fried chicken cutlet stall also has a long queue, and there were many different flavours to choose from. We paired it with bubble milk tea at the alley right next to it, and it was super sinful but shiok!

eat and eat and repeat at Raohe Night Market
#mytripvlog
One of the oldest night markets in Taipei, you should put it in your must-visit night market. Just a few minutes walk from the train station, this night market is smaller but friendlier than other night markets. If food is your top priority, this place offers delicious food!
Food to try:
1. Pepper Bun
- It is a piping hot baked bun stuffed with minced meat , scallion, sugar, soy sauce, and, of course, black pepper.
- There is always a queue, so be patient waiting.
2. Grilled Scallops
- Scallops can't go wrong. Speared with sauce when being grilled gave it a flavourful taste.
3. Taiwanese herbal pork bone soup - it is like Singapore's bak kut teh
The soup was flavourful with lots of herbs
Add on a bowl of lu rou fa - Taiwanese rice topped with braised pork - to complete the meal.

RaoHe Street Night Market is one of the most famous night markets in Taipei. It offers a lot of yummy foods and snacks at affordable prices. It is close to the Songshan train station, and Songshan Ciyou Temple. I love the Fuzhou Black Pepper Bun so much, the skin was crispy and the meat was so flavourful. Please be prepared for a long queue. Other than that, I also highly recommend the Tamagoyaki.

Amazing Taipei Trip
I did a weekend trip in Taipei as my place of residence (Hong Kong) eased inbound travellers’ quarantine requirements. Not having travelled Taiwan for 3 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic felt surreal as it has always been my favourite destination for a short/weekend-trip.
Unfortunately, the weather was bad throughout the trip – it was constantly raining. However, fortunately at night, the heavy rain stopped, and I could go out to the famous night markets such as Ningxia and Raohe. My favourite night market was Ningxia. Although it remained the same as three years ago, I could still see some changes – more varieties in food, especially Korean snacks. I felt like I was in my heritage home!
After eating loads of food at the night market, I went straight to bed and woke up early the day after. I went out to see the Taipei 101 – the city’s one of the most famous landmarks. Unfortunately, the foggy weather did not allow me to oversee the entire building but at least, it was not crowded.
Then I decided to go back to my hotel and pack up and left for Hong Kong. Although I could not do much outdoor activities due to the adverse weather conditions, I still enjoyed the trip. I cannot wait to go back again.

Raohe Night Market is one of the most popular night market in Taipei City, it is also my favourite night market!
It is located near the most famous clothes wholesale Center Wufenpu, so we often shop at Wufenpu in the afternoon and adjourn to Raohe in the evening for more shopping and food.
You can find lots of food here, namely the very famous Wu Jiao Bing, which is a Chinese bake with meat fillings. There are a lot of stalls selling all kinds of street food such as Taiwan sausage, Ai Yu drink, Stinky Tofu, Ice shavings etc

Rao He Seafood Night Market
Rao He night market is one of my favourite night markets. I will usually go there after visiting the city hall and Taipei 101. I will also visit the wufengpu garment wholesale centre which is a 20 minute walk from the Rao He night market. My suggestion is to reach there by 7pm so that most of the stalls would be ready for operations.
Similar to other Taiwan night markets, the focus is on the foods. One of the long queue food stalls is the black pepper bun which costs 50b. The bin is freshly made and the meat is juicy and tender. There are also grilled beef steaks and grilled squid to suit your taste buds.
There are also many restaurants and desert stalls there. My favourite would be the peanut rainbow ice shadings topped with vanilla ice cream. The serving portion is huge and very satisfying. You can take a train here or a taxi for less than 300twd from the ximending area. The Rao he market closes late at night.

BEST night market in taipei
Always revisit raohe night market whenever i’m in taipei. Literally the best night market with tons of food, tons of GOOD food, stalls for shopping, and activities!
my favourite from this night market has got to be the smelly tofu (the only one i enjoy eating in taipei so far) because it’s delicious with the pickled cabbage & the chilli (rly spicy).
Beef cubes are a must have & i basically tried everything that’s new to me whenever i visit a night market in taiwan. The bubble tea was soooo cheap compared to singapore prices & i couldn’t resist but got a 1 litre cup (50 TWD = ~2+ SGD).
Estimate around 2-3 hours here for a good time! #taipei #taiwan

Food tripping at Raohe St Night Market
One of the more popular night market in Taipei is the Raohe Street night market. It only opens after 5pm daily and is located at Raohe St, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 105. Some people considered it as the best single night market for all your night food needs.
One of the must eat here is the black pepper bun. The stall is just located inside the entrance of the night market's East entrance. These are freshly made on the spot and the queue for it is always so long!
Another must eat is the deep fried spiral potato stick. I will always get this when I chance upon it. If you are heading there in the cold weather, I will also recommend you to try the herbal ribs soup. The soup is rich with the herbs and I love the sweetness of those herb in the soup. Hot soup in cold weather! So shioks!

Recommended Hotels in Taipei City Center 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ashu International Hotel 🏨 has a name that exudes Taiwanese charm.
Located next to Xinyi District, it offers convenient transportation. Although rated as a four-star hotel, it provides five-star services and facilities. The rooms are spacious at 36 square meters, with large beds. The bathroom and bathtub offer views of Taipei 101 🌃.
Overall, the experience was decent. I stayed during weekdays, and the cost was 240EUR++ for two nights. Just across the street is a Seven-Eleven, and walking further, you'll find various shops and cafes. At the end of the street is the Taipei Arena MRT Station 🚇.
Nearby bus stops offer routes to Raohe Night Market, just a few stops away, and bus 1062 goes directly to Jiufen, but note that it won't stop if full. Behind the hotel are various snack shops. The last picture shows a small portion of cold noodles, which is quite large for just NT 45, very cheap and tasty.
To the left of the hotel is Jinyuan Cafe, where the coffee is good and the bread is excellent. Enjoy your free-spirited trip to Taipei!

Exploring Raohe Street Night Market: A Culinary Adventure in Taipei
Raohe Street Night Market, one of Taipei’s oldest and most vibrant night markets, offers a sensory feast that attracts both locals and tourists alike. As I stepped onto the bustling street, the aroma of sizzling food enveloped me, igniting my appetite. Brightly lit stalls lined the narrow pathway, each beckoning with colorful displays of delectable dishes and the sounds of enthusiastic vendors calling out to passersby.
First on my list was the iconic pork bun. Known locally as "gua bao," these fluffy steamed buns are filled with tender braised pork belly, pickled mustard greens, and crushed peanuts. As I took my first bite, the soft bun melted in my mouth, and the savory pork combined perfectly with the crunchy peanuts, creating a delightful contrast in textures. The rich flavors burst forth, making it clear why this dish is a favorite among locals. The experience was elevated by the warm, inviting atmosphere of the night market, where laughter and chatter filled the air.
Next, I couldn’t resist trying the fried chicken—a staple that has gained popularity worldwide. The stall I chose was famous for its “salt and pepper” fried chicken, and it didn’t disappoint. Each piece was marinated and coated in a perfectly seasoned batter, fried to a golden crisp. The first crunch was satisfying, and the juicy meat inside was a welcome surprise. The balance of spices was just right, making each bite addictive. I watched as locals enjoyed their servings, many returning for seconds, and I understood why it was such a hit.
Then came the scallion pancake, a dish I was eager to try. The stall I selected had a reputation for serving one of the best in the market. The pancake was expertly cooked, resulting in a flaky exterior with a soft, chewy interior. Scallions were generously folded into the dough, providing bursts of fresh flavor with every bite. I drizzled a bit of soy sauce on top, enhancing the savory notes and adding a hint of umami. This simple yet flavorful dish reminded me of the comfort of home-cooked meals.
As I meandered through the market, I took a moment to soak in the lively atmosphere. The sight of families enjoying their meals, friends sharing laughter, and couples strolling hand in hand made the experience even more special. Each vendor added to the charm of Raohe Street Nigh#historicallandmarks#localguides#deliciousfood#food t Market, and every dish I tried showcased the rich culinary culture of Taiwan.
In just a few hours, I indulged in some of the best street food Taipei has to offer. Raohe Street Night Market was not just a place to eat; it was a celebration of flavors and community. Leaving the market, my heart was full, and my stomach even fuller, already planning my next visit to savor more of its delicious offerings.

A Feast for the Senses: Exploring Raohe Night Market
I had the chance to explore Raohe Night Market in Taipei, and it was a feast for the senses. The market offered an incredible variety of street food, and we made sure to try some of its signature dishes. One highlight was the famous pepper pork buns—crispy on the outside, with a savory, juicy filling bursting with peppery flavor.
I also ventured into the world of stinky tofu, which was surprisingly enjoyable. Despite its strong aroma, it had a perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft interior. Another favorite was the sweet potato balls—golden, chewy, and just the right amount of sweetness to keep us going as we explored the market.
To cool off, I grabbed a papaya milk drink, which was both refreshing and rich, perfectly suiting the warm night. The experience wouldn't have been complete without indulging in some Taiwanese desserts—mochi with peanut powder and egg waffles topped the list of sweet treats we tried.
Raohe Night Market truly delivered an unforgettable culinary adventure. Whether you crave savory snacks or sugary delights, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as you stroll through this vibrant and lively market.

Flavour Explosions at Rao He Night Market
Rao He Street Night Market is my personal favourite night market in Taipei because of the variety and selection of local delicacy and street food there.
Address - Raohe St, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 105
Highlights -
1. Yu Pin Yuan Iced and Hot Riceball
This is my favourite dessert in Taiwan, big riceballs lying on a bowl of shaved iced topped with osmanthus sauce.
2. Oyster Omelette
This omelette is delicious and contains oysters and vegetables. A savoury snack that is found in almost every other local store.
3. Fried Stinky Tofu
Stinky tofu is a must try, even though it smells stinky but it gets more fragrant when you eat it. It is served with picked vegetables
4. Fuzhou Shizu Pepper Cake
This is a michelin bib gourmand recommended store. Round pepper cakes are grilled in stone oven topped with sesame seeds. When you take a bite the juices from the meat squirts out nicely.
5. Dong Fa Hao Oyster Vermicelli
This is a century old shop that serves traditional oyster vermicelli and meat soup. It is more traditional style compared to other shops.

Raohe Night Market
Went to raohe night market in Taipei, Taiwan. There were a lot of claw machines there and food stalls too! The weather is extremely hot, so be prepared to sweat a lot!
I ate this roast pork belly and black pork sausage, it was really good! There are many other options there too! Most stalls sells braised meats and fried food. Beef cubes were not as amazing as they promoted it to be.
