We stayed at the "Hangzhou Nade Hotel," which is very convenient in terms of transportation, close to both West Lake and the Grand Canal. The lake view room offers a direct view of West Lake from the window! It can be called the king of cost performance in the city center! I have to say, the buffet provided by the hotel is fantastic, offering a variety of seafood and desserts! The taste of Chinese dishes is also great! There's also a new Chinese afternoon tea on the first floor, which is really relaxing~
🍲 Food Recommendations:
You can try scallion pancakes, Dingsheng cakes, Pian'er Chuan, and various delicious Hangzhou dishes.
🧳 Pre-trip Preparation:
Essentials: sunscreen, sunshade umbrella, Huoxiang Zhengqi water, mosquito repellent, breathable clothing.
💰 Pitfall Avoidance Guide:

Hope you have a great trip❗

Qiaoxi Historic District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang
Qiaoxi Historic District is named after its location west of Gongchen Bridge. It is about 800 meters long and 200 meters wide. The main attractions are one bridge, two streets, two temples, four alleys, and five museums. The bridge is Gongchen Bridge, the southernmost landmark of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The two streets are Qiaonong Street and Qiaoxi Street, the most distinctive old streets along the canal in Hangzhou. The two temples are Zhang Daxian Temple and Caishen Temple, which are full of grassroots legends. The four alleys are modern residential alleys that continue the city's memory: Jixiangsi Alley, Ruyi Alley, Tonghe Alley, and Jingsheng Alley. The five museums are the Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, China Knives, Scissors, and Swords Museum, China Umbrella Museum, China Fan Museum, and Handicraft Live Exhibition Hall, which are housed in old warehouses, old factories, and new cultural buildings.
Qiaoxi Historic District flourished in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China and is a microcosm of the Jiangnan towns along the canal. The entire district covers the architectural features of Hangzhou's residential buildings in various periods of modern times. In this 7.83-hectare historic district, not only are the factories, warehouses, shops, docks, and wharves of modern industry and commerce preserved, but also a large number of residential buildings: houses along the canal, courtyard-style traditional houses, alley buildings from the Republic of China, simple "public houses" from the 1950s and 1960s, and "tube buildings" from the 1980s, which almost condense the architecture of modern China. Like the Grand Canal, it is a "living cultural heritage," a "flowing Chinese civilization, a paradise painting." Qiaoxi Historic District is a collective memory of "old Hangzhou," a cultural heritage, and a contemporary life. The district has become an "open-air Song Dynasty cultural museum," with various activities such as tea tasting, Song Dynasty cultural exhibitions, Song-style woodwork exhibitions, and Hanfu parades.
In 2014, Qiaoxi Historic District was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site of the Grand Canal and is the only historic district in Hangzhou to be listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

The old streets of Qiaoxi Historic Block after the rain.
Today I went to the Qiaoxi Historic Block, which is full of ancient charm. It feels like I have traveled back to ancient times. The ancient town is next to the famous Grand Canal. The river is leisurely and perfectly blends with the ancient town. It is simply a living picture of the Jiangnan water town~
However, the protagonist of my day is not the Grand Canal and the ancient town, but the blooming trumpet creeper in the ancient town! In this season, the trumpet creeper is so beautiful, one by one, one cluster after another, with the continuous white walls and black tiles in the ancient town, it is simply a perfect match! The trumpet creeper seems to know that it is in the ancient town, so it blooms particularly happily. Many places are covered with beautiful trumpet creepers and ivy, and some even occupy the entire wall! The trumpet creeper above and the ivy below make the walls of the ancient town perfectly integrated with nature, which is really beautiful~
It rained a little bit, and the trumpet creeper in the drizzle seemed to be thriving, and the upward climbing posture was really full of vitality! The kind of lush beauty is simply fascinating. The trumpet creeper after the rain, with a little water droplets, shining, as if saying to me: "Look at me quickly, am I beautiful?" Haha, of course I am very willing to appreciate this beauty~
In short, the trumpet creeper in Qiaoxi Ancient Town is really a highlight of this season. With the charm of the ancient town and the beautiful scenery of the Grand Canal, it is simply a living beautiful picture! If you also like this kind of ancient beauty, then hurry up and come to Qiaoxi Ancient Town to enjoy the trumpet creeper~

Qiaoxi Straight Street is the most worthwhile shopping district in the northern area of Hangzhou
On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, I visited this district on my last day in Hangzhou, but unfortunately, the weather was bad and it kept raining. The district mainly revolves around the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and includes attractions such as the Sword Scissors Museum, Umbrella and Fan Museum, Arts and Crafts Museum, Tianyang D32 Fashion District, Gongchen Bridge, Qiaoxi Straight Street, Zitan Museum, and the Grand Canal Museum, to name a few.
📍Detailed address: No. 1 Qiaoxi Straight Street, Gongshu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province
🕙Business hours: Open all day, museums require advance reservation.
🚉Transportation strategy: If driving, it is recommended to park in the underground garage of Tianyang D32 district, where registering as a member can get one hour of free parking. Alternatively, you can take subway line 5 to the Grand Canal Station or Gongchen Bridge East.
⏳Visiting time: Half a day to a day
🗓Background: Qiaoxi Straight Street is a general term for the area west of Gongchen Bridge in Gongshu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The Qiaoxi historical and cultural district is more clearly defined, starting from the head of Gongchen Bridge and spreading out to the west, north to the China Fan Museum, south to Dengyun Road, and west to Xiaohe Road. The Qiaoxi area is a cluster of ancient buildings from the Jiangnan water towns and is now a characteristic district for traditional Chinese medicine.
Today's Qiaoxi Straight Street has become the Qiaoxi Straight Street Historical District. Crossing over Gongchen Bridge from the Canal Square, you will find yourself on Qiaoxi Straight Street. The historical district is L-shaped and has preserved a complete set of late Qing and early Republican riverside residential buildings, as well as a large number of industrial relics from the near modern era. Compared to Xiaohe Straight Street, Qiaoxi Straight Street has a more commercial atmosphere. The Canal Industrial Three Museums—China Umbrella Museum, China Fan Museum, and China Sword Scissors Museum—converted from old factories, along with the God of Wealth Temple, Zhang Daxian Temple, and riverside bookstores, add a cultural atmosphere to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
🌟Highlights: Sword Scissors Museum, Umbrella and Fan Museum, and the Grand Canal Museum.

Hangzhou locals' favorite old street! The night view is too beautiful!
🌿If you are traveling to Hangzhou, don't go to the crowded West Lake anymore. Recently, I checked in a less popular scenic spot in Hangzhou - Qiaoxi Straight Street, 📍located near Gongchen Bridge represented by the Asian Games mascot "Chenchen".
·
🌿A Gongchen Bridge, half of Hangzhou's history.
·
🌿Different from the crowded Xiaohe Straight Street, this is the old street that Hangzhou locals love the most. From dusk to the beginning of the lights, on the bank of the canal, you can see the most beautiful night view of Hangzhou!
·
🌿Qiaoxi Straight Street is not big, along Gongchen Bridge, south to the north side of Dengyun Bridge, west to Xiaohe Road, there are bookstores, coffee shops, cultural and creative shops, tea rooms, etc., especially suitable for calming down and slowly experiencing the fireworks of Hangzhou's old bottom.
·
🌿If you want to visit the Umbrella Museum, Fan Museum, Sword Museum, etc., it is recommended to reserve a whole day.

This time I stayed at Conglai·Canal Courtyard, which is the Grand Canal when you go out, and it is about 10 minutes walk to Gongchen Bridge.
·
🌿The homestay environment is quiet and quiet, the entire courtyard is surrounded by green plants, the room design is simple and industrial style, simple and exquisite, there are free desserts and fruits when you check in, the whole intelligent room control system and password lock access control, the experience is great~

Compared to the always crowded West Lake, I actually prefer this less popular Asian Games tour route, which is very suitable for walking➕photography, sharing some photo check-in locations, friends who are going to go recently hurry up and mark it~
🚶♀️My photo route: Xiangji Temple Square——Xiaohe Straight Street——Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street——Gongchen Bridge
-
1️⃣Xiangji Temple:
A thousand-year-old temple on the side of the canal, quiet in the midst of noise, next to it is a high-rise building, the picture of ancient civilization and modern society in the same scene, quite impactful.
Photo points:
▪️Xiangji Temple Square, that is, this area at the entrance, take a picture from under the tree on the right, use the leaves as the foreground;
▪️Dashingenna King Hall, each person can get 3 incense for free, you can capture some pictures of worship;
▪️The small roads on both sides, people can pretend to walk casually, with the temple building as the background;
▪️There are often monks passing by in the temple, wait more and you can take pictures.
2️⃣Xiaohe Straight Street:
The architectural style and street structure of Xiaohe Straight Street are all rebuilt during the Republic of China period, and you can always find some traces of the times left behind, which is also one of the fun of my citywalk.
Photo points:
▪️Along the river path, there is a door every short distance that can go directly to the river, use the door to create a sense of space for shooting;
▪️The entrance of the shop, the door design of Xiaohe Straight Street is very distinctive, there are various flower installations, some even have seats, very Dali feeling;
▪️Street side wall, ancient wooden doors and large jars for brewing wine, etc., can make your photos more vivid;
▪️In the middle of the street, the narrow street is crowded with people, very human.
3️⃣Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street➕Gongchen Bridge
The two points are actually together, here is very suitable for shooting national style, Hanfu and cheongsam can be.
Photo points:
▪️The entrance of Gongchen Bridge is a street with a very ancient life atmosphere, the roof is hung with the banner of Fang Hui Chun Tang, very age-sensitive;
▪️Along the river street, there are large lotus flowers🪷 by the river, the background is old buildings;
▪️The main street and the fork, the whole block is very good to shoot, there will be some small forks in the middle, the wall is hung with big character posters shop name, also very good to shoot.

The so-called "bridge west" is a general term in the west of the arch bridge. The current history and cultural district of Qiaoxi is more clear. It starts from the arch bridge and spreads to the west. It goes to the China Fan Museum in the north, Dengyun Road in the south, and Xiaohe Road in the west. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this area was called the Beiguan Night Market, and the business on both sides of the canal flourished.
If you want to find a place on the canal and look at the modern history and culture of the canal, then the bridge west straight is definitely a good place. It witnessed the prosperous scenery along the canal in the past, and also saw the helplessness of the industrial decline in the 1980s and 1990s. It condensed the epitome of the history of the development of national industry in modern Hangzhou since the late Qing Dynasty.
