Great View of Preah Khan Temple in SR
#timetotravel
The temple of Preah Khan was built by King Jayavarman VII (Jayavarman VII) after he defeated the Cham army in the late 12th century in 1191. During the reign of Jayavarman VII, he practiced Mahayana Buddhism.
The temple of Preah Khan has a rectangular layout that is 800 meters long and 700 meters wide. The temple has four floors of walls and gopuras (gates) temples in all four directions. On either side of the four gopuras, there is a statue of "Gurud" on the floor of a dragon carved into the temple walls.
Prasat Preah Khan is not only a temple dedicated to the Father. Prasat Preah Khan was one of the former major capitals of Jayavarman VII when he rebuilt Angkor Thom, which had been burnt down by the Cham army. Jayavarman VII built the walls of Angkor Thom before Builder of Bayon temple.
After Jayavarman VII returned to the capital in Angkor Thom, Preah Khan was used for training and religion.

The Preah Khan Temple
Preah Khan is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built in the 12th century for King Jayavarman VII to honor his father. It is located northeast of Angkor Thom and just west of the Jayatataka baray, with which it was associated. It was the centre of a substantial organisation, with almost 100,000 officials and servants. The temple is flat in design, with a basic plan of successive rectangular galleries around a Buddhist sanctuary complicated by Hindu satellite temples and numerous later additions. Like the nearby Ta Prohm, Preah Khan has been left largely unrestored, with numerous trees and other vegetation growing among the ruins. #unforgettableexperiences

Preah Khan: The Beauty of Ruins
Preah Khan is located northeast of Angkor Thom in Cambodia. Built in the 12th century, it was constructed by Jayavarman VII (one of the three great kings) to commemorate his father. It is the only temple in the Angkor complex with ancient Roman and Greek architectural styles.
Although Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia, it has been influenced by cultures from India, other parts of Southeast Asia, and even further afield. This extensive cultural exchange made it possible for Mediterranean-style architecture to appear in Preah Khan.
The most distinctive building is the library, which is said to have been used to store the sacred sword given by Jayavarman II to his successor. Preah Khan is named after this sword.
In addition, the walls and stone pillars of Preah Khan are covered with exquisite murals and reliefs, depicting scenes from the lives of ancient Khmer people, mythological stories, and religious beliefs, such as Asuras and Apsaras.

There is a peculiar Greek-style two-story temple - the Temple of the Holy Sword
The Temple of the Holy Sword has four arched corridors extending in four directions from the central sanctuary. Many of the vaults have collapsed, and there are many exquisite carvings on the walls inside the temple. Many of them have been preserved to this day, including sages and fairies. On the right side of the fifth gate, there is a mirror-dancing girl carved on the wall, which is the only unique one in all the bas-reliefs of Angkor. At the west gate, you can hardly see any natural wonders, but on the outside of the east gate, there are two ancient trees growing on the side of the protective wall. The huge roots are entwined together, and the branches are towering into the clouds. There is also a peculiar Greek-style two-story building on the east gate, which is said to be used to store the holy sword. Its round pillars are Mediterranean architectural style, and it looks like a product from Athens.

Preah Khan Temple 🇰🇭
#2024wish
Recently, I embarked on a journey to explore the magnificent Pheah Khan Temple nestled in the enchanting Siem Reap Province. This awe-inspiring temple not only offers breathtaking views but also stands as a testament to the rich ancient history of Cambodia. The moment I set foot in this sacred place, a surge of excitement coursed through me, knowing that I was about to witness the remarkable artistry and architectural brilliance that this temple beholds.
The architectural design of Preah Khan is characterized by its flat structure, featuring a fundamental layout of successive rectangular galleries encircling a Buddhist sanctuary. However, the temple's complexity is further enhanced by the presence of Hindu satellite temples and a multitude of later additions. These additions, along with the passage of time, have contributed to the temple's current state of ruin. Yet, amidst the crumbling walls and fallen structures, nature has reclaimed its territory, with numerous trees and other vegetation flourishing among the remnants. This deliberate decision to leave Preah Khan largely unrestored allows visitors to witness the harmonious coexistence of man-made structures and the natural world, creating a truly mesmerizing sight.
When you journey to Cambodia, you'll discover a destination that guarantees a meaningful and memorable travel experience. I can't wait to go back there again in 2024! #ancienttemples #mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip #preahkhantemple

Legend has it that Jermo II gave his heir a holy sword, hence the name, the palace of the king, and the place where the monks lived and studied. The size of the Temple of the Holy Sword is grand, and the long pilgrimages in front of the two gates of the East and West are surrounded by the great snakes of Asura and the gods. It is said that this is a scene of the famous mythology of India stirring the milk sea. The road leading to the central sanctuary in the temple consists of a vaulted gallery, and the corridor is deep. It is not difficult to imagine how brilliant it was in the 12th century when it was built.
East of the Sword Temple, there is a two-story stone structure. The circular pillars are very similar to the ancient buildings in the Mediterranean area of the Roman period. The opposite of this building is said to be the Tibetan swordstation for the holy sword.

Nowadays, the Temple of the Sword, which is hidden in the deepest part of the jungle, was once the largest temple group built in the Angkor period. In contrast, it is undoubtedly a great miracle. Due to its location in the backcountry, its surroundings are surprisingly quiet. Here, you can stand alone and face the most mysterious temple in Cambodia, and experience the greatest history of Khmer ancient countries.
The weather-beaten temple is now surrounded by layers of woods. The gate overlooking the jungle is almost integrated into the surrounding environment.

The Temple of the Sword is built to commemorate the victory of the battle between Jeremiah VII and the Zhan, and is also built by Jesus to commemorate his father. Inside the temple, the remains of Buddha statues and ascetic monks are visible everywhere. After the death of the king who vigorously protected Buddhism, the era of Jedi Mo VIII broke out in a religious war, which is said to be traces of the destruction of the radical Hindu Shiva. Entering from the east entrance, there is a two-story stone building on the north side. It is a stone building built with reference to the wooden structure. There are no two cases in Angkor Wat, such as the ancient Greek temple. Its use has many different opinions. It is said that it is a Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, and it is also said to be a Tibetan sword pavilion. Since observing the current building structure without a ladder can go to 2 floors, it can only be judged that the previous ladder may be woody and has decayed.

The most favorite of the entire Angkor monument is the Temple of the Sword, no one, the gravel is desolate, but the building is full of moss and infinitely vital, and most of the buildings that are entangled by the ancient trees are not collapsed. It is simply Wu. The concentration of the major attractions of the Gago is strongly recommended.
