I have to say that the food here is dazzling, and the fruits are also very delicious. You can't buy them when you return to the mainland. From Kashgar to Taxkorgan, drive on National Highway 314, which is the essence of the South Xinjiang trip. On the first day, I passed by Lake Baisha and Karakul Lake Scenic Area. The former is a highlight of the White Sand Mountain on the opposite bank, while the latter is the best place to view Muztagh Ata. Of course, the weather has a great impact on the lake. On the third day of the return trip, the weather was very good, and these two lakes were simply beautiful. On the second day, I started from Taxkorgan and drove to the Wakhan Corridor. Then I took the Panlong Ancient Road and returned to Taxkorgan via Bandir Blue Lake. The best viewing point of the Panlong Ancient Road is the plank road when going down the mountain, and Bandir Blue Lake also changes color with the light. The scenery along the way is also great. Panlong Ancient Road, the "electrocardiogram" in the Kunlun Mountains, although only 30 kilometers long, the altitude rises sharply from 3000 meters to 4200 meters. From a distance, the Panlong Ancient Road looks like a winding giant dragon lying in the mountains. It is said that Xuanzang passed through here, making it a crucial route over the Kunlun Mountain ridge. The temperature can vary greatly at night, rooms are equipped with electric heating plates, and the conditions are completely acceptable. 4️⃣Dining: There are quite a few dining places in Tashkurgan where you can try the local specialty 'Yak Hotpot'. It is not just a road from Taxian County to Waqia Township; the short 30-kilometer distance hides an astonishing 639 turns, each one a masterpiece of nature's craftsmanship, especially those hairpin bends as delicate as hair, which are truly breathtaking. The Panlong Ancient Road is not only a passage connecting urban and rural areas, but also a poverty alleviation road carrying the hopes of wealth and prosperity. Facing the remote 75 kilometers between Waqia Township and Tashkurgan County Town, as well as the daunting mountains on the way to the Wuhong Line, the travel of local herdsmen used to be a huge challenge. However, the builders, with their incredible perseverance and wisdom, constructed this winding S-shaped road along the mountain terrain in the soft sandy rocks, ensuring safety and stability. Despite the challenges and dangers of the Panlong Ancient Road, it greatly shortens the distance between Waqia Township and the county town, making travel much more convenient for the herdsmen.
