The must-visit place in Madrid during sunny days
Palacio de Cristal
Paseo de Cuba, 4, 28009 Madrid, Spain
Madrid’s stunning Crystal Palace is located in the city's "green lung," Retiro Park. Built in 1887 during the Philippine Exposition to showcase exotic plants, the Crystal Palace is a romantic venue and one of Spain's most famous iron-structure buildings. Its excellent light transmission makes it a great spot for photography.

Madrid's Crystal Palace in Retiro Park.
Nowadays, the palace is mainly used to hold contemporary art exhibitions. In the lake in front of the Crystal Palace, there are several Italian cypress trees growing in the water, with the special feature that their roots and part of the trunk are submerged in water. The Crystal Palace is surrounded by tall Indian chestnut trees. Many people come to the park to visit, especially on weekends.
El Retiro Park is the largest and most beautiful park in Madrid. Buen Retiro means "ideal retreat". In the 16th century, the royal family celebrated Christmas and Easter here, and later Philip IV ordered it to be built as a royal garden for the entertainment of the royal family. The park covers an area of 130 hectares, with over 15,000 planted plants and many important monuments. The roads and squares in the park are named after current Spanish-speaking countries, such as Bolivia Avenue, Venezuela Avenue, Nicaragua Square, and Panama Square. The park also has an artificial lake where you can rent a small boat to paddle on the lake.

The heart of El Retiro Park
Palacio de Cristal is located in the heart of El Retiro Park. Palacio de Cristal is a beautiful metal and glass structure with a little lake in front of the palace. It was designed in the late 19th century. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Palacio de Cristal is temporarily closed, but you can still take beautiful pictures from the outside. Because the Palacio de Cristal is covered with glass, you can see the interior of the structure from outside.

A Dazzling Fusion of Art, Architecture, and Nature in Madrid's Historic Park
Cristal House, or Palacio de Cristal, is a glass pavilion in Madrid's Buen Retiro Park, built in 1887 and inspired by London's Crystal Palace. This 19th-century iron-and-glass structure was originally for a Philippine Exhibition and now hosts art exhibitions. Its transparency connects visitors to nature, blending beautifully with the park's trees and lake. Managed by the Reina Sofía Museum, it's a landmark known for its architecture and cultural significance in a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Blooms in Madrid: Cherry Delight
#cherryblossom2024
There are some places in Madrid where you can find cherry blossoms and enjoy their beauty during the springtime.
1. Retiro Park (Parque del Retiro): While primarily known for its expansive green spaces and beautiful gardens, Retiro Park is home to several cherry blossom trees that bloom in late March to early April. The area around the Palacio de Cristal and the Paseo de la Argentina are particularly picturesque spots to see cherry blossoms in bloom.
2. Campo del Moro Gardens (Jardines del Campo del Moro): Located next to the Royal Palace, these gardens feature a variety of trees and flowers, including cherry blossom trees. Strolling through these gardens during springtime can offer lovely views of cherry blossoms against the backdrop of the palace.
3. Japanese Garden at the West Park (Parque de la Casa de Campo): While not as extensive as some Japanese gardens in other cities, the Japanese Garden within Casa de Campo Park features cherry blossom trees that bloom in spring. It can be a serene spot to enjoy the cherry blossoms away from the city crowds.
4. Madrid Rio Park: Along the Manzanares River, Madrid Rio Park offers beautiful green spaces with various trees, including some cherry blossom trees. It's a nice area for a leisurely stroll or a picnic during springtime.
Keep in mind that the blooming period for cherry blossoms in Madrid may vary depending on weather conditions, typically occurring in late March to early April.

Museum in Madrid
It is located at P. de Cuba, 4, 28009 Madrid, the nearest metro station is Ibiza around 800 meters 10 minutes walk.
Built in 1887, it responds both to the architectural culture of new materials and to the history of nineteenth century colonialism.
The use of cast iron columns and large glass surfaces allow for a monumental and diaphanous floor plan at the same time
The rest of the environment that surrounds the palace, featuring an artificial lake, with a water fountain at the centre of the lake.
It is currently one of the two exhibition venues of the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid Retiro Park.
Today it is considered one of the most beautiful landscapes in the capital largest green space Retiro Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Beautiful and mandatory stop if you are visiting the Retiro Park. Like a fairy tale would tell, you come across the crystal structure going through the woods, sorrounded by an artificial lake filled with swans, ducks and turtles.
