The name 'Churaumi' in 'Churaumi Aquarium' means 'beautiful sea' in the Okinawan dialect. This aquarium is the southernmost in Japan, the largest in Asia, and one of the top three largest in the world! It boasts a rich variety of marine life, including many rare species. The spacious grounds are perfect for children to run around, making it a top choice for family trips in Okinawa. Okinawa's BEST Aquarium
Exploring this aquarium was an absolute delight for our family. We were mesmerized by the captivating displays, which beautifully showcased a diverse range of sea creatures in their natural environments. Witnessing the graceful presence of the whale shark up close was a particular highlight for our children, and the multiple viewing spots provided unique perspectives throughout our visit. Not only was the experience both educational and entertaining, but it also left us with lasting memories of the ocean's wonders. As a helpful tip, just before reaching the souvenir shop at the end of the aquarium, there's an opportunity to have your photo taken and receive a complimentary printed copy along with a calendar. Additionally, there's the option to purchase a regular-sized print and a digital copy, which we couldn't resist due to their irresistible charm.
Wish I could visit Ocean Park's aquarium in HK as well!

Churaumi Aquarium - Okinawa
Churaumi Aquarium is located on the northern part of Okinawa, about an hour and a half drive from Naha. The aquarium is situated close to the seaside, where visitors can also enjoy the view of the ocean upon entering the aquarium. The aquarium features diverse species of marine life, which are predominantly native or can be found on the coasts of Japan. The aquarium is also the first facility in the world to artificially birthed a shark. Information on the marine species are available in both Japanese and English.

This is the Churaumi aquarium located in Motobu town, Okinawa. Travelling by car would be an easier choice but there are are also buses that you can take from the airport. I don’t know why but it just feels very therapeutic just to sit there and look at the large Kuroshio sea aquarium, looking at them swimming around. Also do catch their feeding time too! It’s interesting to watch. There is also beluga whale and dolphin show~ They are just too cute! There is also a small park and a sea view to enjoy~
I wish that I could visit more aquariums in the future

Okinawa trip
My friend and I went to Okinawa. It was an amazing trip! the best part is Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. There are different kind of species. I also recommend for family trip. The Aquarium is well-organized and clean. The city is also very nice. It is somehow different from other cities in Japan, in term of the styles and building. However, Amazing authentic Japanese food are still around the corner! We went there only 3 days but I think we got all the places in our list. We rent a car and drove around the city which is very convenient.
We booked a hotel very close to Aquarium As mentioned above, this place is amazing!#gooutside #staycation #passionpassport

Churaumi Aquarium
The aquarium is far from the airport but worthy to visit.
You need to take the tickets at the domestic arrival hall. Luckily it is only a few minutes away from the international arrival hall.
The Kuroshio Sea is incredible and you can take some really good pictures there. The way that the whale sharks eat is really interesting.
It’s a nice aquarium; however, I expected a little bit more given the reputation for being one of the better aquariums in Japan.
They can certainly expand on the food(restaurant) selections.

The tickets are not cheap, but the aquarium is actually pretty incredible. Also, there is loads to do outside as well. See the dolphin show, feed the turtles and dolphins, play at the playground, walk the gardens.

The aquarium introduces you to the mystery of Okinawa’s marine creatures, starting with the naturally lit Coral Sea tank, which exhibits a large selection of coral reef. Next is the enormous, dynamic Kuroshio Sea tank, where you can observe the world’s biggest fish as well as whale sharks and manta rays, which, in a world first, the aquarium has succeeded in breeding. And as you go deeper into the aquarium, you will encounter the Deep Sea tank, in which the which the mysterious deep sea of Okinawa is reproduced, allowing you to experience Okinawa’s entire underwater world. #wintergetaway

Okinawa is located halfway between Kyushu Island in Japan and Taiwan Province of China. It is the only island prefecture in Japan. If Okinawa is the center of the island, islands such as Miyako Islands and Yaeyama Islands form an arc around the mainland of China. It has a unique environment and a warm and pleasant climate. It is also the only subtropical region in Japan.

The Churaumi Aquarium is widely considered Japan's best aquarium. It is the main attraction of the Ocean Expo Park on the former grounds of the 1975 International Ocean Expo in northern Okinawa Honto. The aquarium was completely redesigned and reopened in 2002.

Churaumi Aquarium Okinawa Japan 🇯🇵
The world's 2nd largest aquarium and Japan's 1st ⭐️
There are many zones to visit. The air is cool. The view is beautiful.
The atmosphere is good. There are many food and shopping places. We went early in the morning, but it was still very difficult to find a parking spot. Only a few parking spaces were open on the day we went (we rented a car).
For those who go by bus, it should be more convenient.
The whales are swimming around all the time. Whenever you go, you will definitely see them.
I personally like to sit and watch them in the movie room.
On the way out, there is a place to stop and buy souvenirs.

If you mention Okinawa, you must not miss the Churaumi Aquarium. Come and see the whale sharks!
It takes about 2 hours to drive from the city. There is plenty of parking. It is recommended to come early in the morning so there are fewer people, and the photos will turn out better.
Inside, there is a café where you need to reserve a spot and wait for your turn. The café offers food and drinks and has private sections where you can sit and watch the whale sharks up close for 40 minutes. It's great!

Aquarium➕Dolphin Show➕Manatee Pavilion➕Turtle Pavilion, two hours is enough for the whole tour
We reserved 4 hours, which was more than enough, and later we just sat and rested
The dolphin show lasts about 15 minutes, with sessions at 1 PM and 3 PM
You can't go down to the beach here, but you can play some sea activities at the beach on Kouri Island, which looks more like a jelly sea
There are limited edition gacha capsules in the aquarium, 500 yen each, very worth it! I once drew a whale shark, the star of the Kuroshio Sea exhibit

Asia's best Aquarium
The aquarium area was huge and involves quite a bit of walking. Also if you are coming straight from the airport, know that it’s relatively far. I think about 90-100 minutes drive from the airport. The food thing is that there are tons of spaces for parking, but you might have to park quite far away from the main building since it’s crowded.
The aquarium itself was nice as well for a getaway trip. There isn’t much special with it. Most of the exhibits are isolated by species in a small-ish container. Feeding time for the fishes and other events like dolphin shows etc starts around noon from 1 pm, so I’d advise to come not too early or too late. In Asia, this is by far the best Aquarium I visited.
