[2025 Munakata Attraction] Travel Guide for Munakata Shrine (Updated Jan)

Munakata Taisha in Fukuoka Prefecture is one of Japan's oldest shrines, appearing in the ancient Japanese texts 'Nihon Shoki' and 'Kojiki'. Munakata Taisha is a collective name for three shrines, dedicated to the three goddesses known as the Munakata Sanjojin. On October 1st, the Autumn Grand Festival (Miare Festival) is held, where a boat carrying the deity crosses the sea, creating a breathtaking scene! Additionally, this year, the Munakata Miare Art Festival 2024 is being held until October 20th, with art installations within the precincts of Munakata Taisha Hetsu-miya (including the main shrine, prayer hall, and rest areas)! It's wonderful to be able to enjoy art while visiting the shrine♪

One of the first pagodas I have visited in Japan. Fortunately, it was an amazing experience we should use a taxy from JR TOGO st. because there's only one bus in 1hr. However, there are so many beautiful small shline and atmosphere is so clean! when you have a good luck, you can find nice taxy driver and he/she takes you a miyadhidake shrine through special place! The entrance fee was free, which was a pleasant surprise and allowed me to fully appreciate the beauty and spirituality of the shrine without any cost. As I wandered through the sacred grounds, surrounded by towering trees and blooming cherry blossoms, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. #TranquilRetreats and #CulturalExplorers would find solace in this hidden gem. Nearby, Munakata Taisha Okitsu-gu Shrine provided further insights into Japanese Shinto beliefs and traditions, while the scenic Munakata Common Beach offered a perfect spot for relaxation and beachcombing. After visiting the shrine, I indulged in some fresh seafood at a nearby restaurant, savoring the flavors of the sea.
