It was a well-spent, one of a kind weekend in Malapascua Island. As a first timer, I was amazed by its beauty and life that it can offer. Stayed at a budget inn 500 meters away from the dock side, a walking distant beach and various food store. The inn also serves food or you can stroll around for alternatives. They also offer island hopping tour and it's worth it! I will definitely go back to the island!

A Laid-back Island Paradise
Malapascua is a small tropical island in the northern tip of Cebu. Its white sandy beaches are home to some high-end luxury resorts and to some affordable budget hotels for those beach goers and for those divers looking to relax and unwind in between dives.
This island is seen as a less commercially developed version of the world-famous Boracay but still get to experience the same white fine sand, mesmerizing sunsets and friendly locals. Its laidback lifestyle allows you to dine in their carenderias or local restaurants with their very fresh seafoods for a cheaper price.
To get there, you need to take a 4-hr bus ride from Cebu City to Maya Port in the town of Daanbantayan and then take a 30-min boat ride.

Island to get away, get lost, get renewed
Lessons come in tidal waves, now that you’re already an adult. They slap you hard, tear you down, and sometimes they leave you suffocating, gasping for air. A weekend in Malapascua can feel exactly like that, if that's what you’re looking for.
Before you go though, you’d have to remember important details that may keep changing depending on how you talk to local service providers:
• Since Malapascua is an hour of outrigger boat ride away, and the wind in this part of the ocean can be colder than usual, wear a long sleeve
• The boat ride costs maximum of P100 only. Anything beyond that is overpriced.
• The waves can be brutal, and the ride can be bumpy due to this, but do note that I love you.
• Cheaper but more delicicious food can be bought and eaten in makeshift carenderias (mini restaurants)

White powdery beach in the North!
Malapascua a long stretch of white sand beach, with bars and restaurants scattered around. It is the main beach of the island, and there is no entrance fee. It is ideal for chilling around, having a meal or a snack, and going for a leisurely swim. There are even hammocks hanging around that you can lie in them and relax for free. Also perfect while watching the sunset and having friends around.

Filipinas ha recibido influencias de sociedades tan diferentes como la española, la china, la estadounidense y la de malasia. Así, a la diversidad de culturas locales se ha sumado un impacto multicolor de otras latitudes. Maybe you have heard a lot of travellers say "Mom shoots the loofah", in fact it is Malapascua in Cebu, Philippines, because the homophonic sound of Malapaska is similar to that of mom, so many travelers like to take it. Said mother to take the loofah, better memory. Compared with the well-developed islands such as Boracay in the Philippines, Malapascua has a lot of commercialization, not only natural, but also cost-effective travel. For backpackers, Malapascua is more like a sea paradise.
Find a travel agent on Malapascua Island and report a day trip to the island for snorkeling. After an hour and a half, I went to the legendary sea paradise, Carter Gama Island, first saw the sea, fell in love with the blue .
No matter which angle you look at, you feel pure in your heart, no pollution at all, even want to turn into a cloud, drifting in the blue sky with the wind, or turning into a fish, swimming in the sea.
Pay special attention to sun protection, local UV is super strong.

Malapascua is a small island paradise located off the northern tip of Cebu in the Philippines. Known for its crystal-clear waters and rich marine life, it’s a diver’s haven. Hidden Gem in the North Part of Cebu Philippines: Malapascua Island
Explore Cebu's Malapascua Island, known for being a diving destination where you can swim with thresher sharks, making it one of the top Visayas tourist spots. Find out about the best time to visit, how to go, where to stay, top attractions to visit in Malapascua tours, and local food you shouldn't miss in this guide.
Malapascua Island, located in the northern part of Cebu, is just one of the many islands you can explore in the Philippines. But what makes this small island a must-visit is that it's the only place in the whole world where you can dive with thresher sharks on a nearly daily basis.
Compared to other more popular island destinations in the Philippines. Malapascua Island is less commercially developed. And that relaxing and friendly beach vibe actually makes the island even more inviting.
With a length of 2.5 kilometers and a width of 1 kilometer, you can explore the whole island in less than 2 hours, depending on how long it takes for you to marvel at its many tourist spots and activities.
Even though most people visit Malapascua Island to dive and see the thresher sharks and other marine life, its small island culture, smaller crowds, and the long stretch of white-sand beaches are what makes travelers come back for more.
The best time to visit is between the months of December to April. It’s always best to schedule your trip to Malapascua Island during this dry season, where there are fewer chances of rainfall and typhoon.
If you want to avoid large crowds, avoid March and April. This is the Holy Week and summer season in the Philippines where more local travelers will be exploring the island destinations.
The easiest and fastest way to get to Malapascua Island is to fly to Cebu directly through the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which is located in Lapu-Lapu City just outside Cebu City.
From there, you can ride a private vehicle or board a public bus to New Maya Port. Travel time from Cebu City to New Maya Port is around 4 hours. From there, you can hop on a boat going to Malapascua Island. The boat ride is between 30 minutes and 1 hour long.
The earliest boat leaves at 6:30 AM while the last boat leaves at 4:30 PM. If you miss the last boat heading to Malapascua Island, you can stay at the small lodge near New Maya Port.
There’s a boat every 30 minutes so don’t worry if you miss one. Each boat leaves when there are enough passengers on board. But if you want some privacy, you can also rent the entire boat.
If you’re prone to getting seasick, it’s advisable to take medicine for motion sickness before boarding the boat to the island. The boat ride from New Maya Port to Malapascua Island can be a bit rough so it’s best to be prepared.

The Soothing Sounds of Daanbantayan 🌊
#2024wish
To the northern tip of Cebu is a stunning and undeveloped coastline of Daanbantayan. The beauty of the beach and pristine sands have not dimmed. The water is clear and refreshing. There aren’t too many water sport activities in the day time because of the boat trips to Malapascua which gives pockets of tranquility to the weary.
Come, sit under the tree, and let’s plan our next adventure together! In 2024 I hope to travel around Scandinavia more. 🗺️ 💫 #travelwish

Philippines
When it comes to island vacations, the Philippines is definitely a top choice. However, with so many islands to choose from, how do you decide? This article has got you covered!
Best place to relax: Boracay Island, Long Beach
The most famous island with good sea water, beaches, and decent hotels. The coastline is about 7 kilometers long, with 4 kilometers of fine white sand. Sunset sailing and diving are also features. The downside is that transportation is a bit of a hassle, as you have to fly to Kalibo and then take a combination of land, sea, and air transportation (plane, bus, ferry) to get to Boracay. Additionally, there are not many international brand hotels (but it is still the most among all major islands in the Philippines).
Highest playability: Bohol Island
You can go up the mountains and down to the sea, as well as visit some less interesting cultural attractions. To get there domestically, it's from within China to Manila to Tagbilaran, or fly to Cebu and then take a boat, which is even more troublesome. The most famous one is Balicasag Island, which has a circle of coral reefs around the island and underwater cliffs that are a full 1000 meters deep!
Diving to see thresher sharks: Mommy shoots at Malapascua Island
Island
In the north of Cebu, you need to fly to Cebu first and then take a car and a boat. There are few tourists, suitable for diving enthusiasts, and you can see thresher sharks steadily. Jump to Kalanggaman Island on the east side of the island, there is a beautiful long-tailed sandy beach. Go to Gato Island, there is an underwater cave that crosses the island.
My top pick: Palawan Island in the Philippines.
A peaceful island surrounded by over a thousand islands of various sizes, with the best seawater, beaches, and one hotel per island.
Amanpulo is the best option for luxury, while El Nido and Coron offer good value for money.
The best for surfing: Siargao Island
Southeast Asia's surfing paradise requires a layover in Manila. For island hopping, visit Guyam Island in Siargao for excellent snorkeling. There's also Tropical Beach, which boasts a long stretch of sandy beach.
Transfer station: Dumaguete
Dumaguete is not worth staying, but you can go to Sumilon Island. The Bluewater resort on the island is perfect for a relaxing vacation. The nearby Apo Island is a diving paradise where you can dive off the cliffs. There is also a small independent island called Siquijor, which is said to be the home of witches and demons.
Niche high cost performance: Ganmiyin Camiguin
Only the Cebu to Camiguin flight offers a volcanic island with beaches that rival those of Boracay. The sunken cemetery is a landmark and the best spot to watch the sunset.
Half flame, half seawater: Legazpi, Philippines
Ma Rong volcano is the most perfectly symmetrical volcano in the world and is an active volcano. It is very close to Donsol, where you can go out to sea to see wild whales and sharks.
Nearest to Manila: PG (Puerto Galera)
Mainly diving, high requirements, there may be some undercurrents underwater.

Paradise 🏝🌊💙
Our favorite time is to spend at the beach. It gives us so much Joy to swim, snorkel and dive to see different sea-creatures. And after getting tired, we sit on the sand. We did talk a lot of things of how much we love what we are doing. Life is too short so cherish every single moment. Take pictures. Dance under the sunset and sing under the rain 😍😍😍 Can’t wait to explore more beaches with you 🌊🏝💙#paradise#malapascuaisland#grateful#amazingplacetoliveon

Malapascua Cebu
It is already known to many that people visit the island of Cebu because of its great history, its churches, parks, but not known to many, people come to Cebu for the white beaches and beautiful nature.
Nestled 6.8km from the offshore of the northern coast of Cebu island is, Malapascua. Because of its rich marine sanctuary, Malapascua Island has attracted both local and foreign visitors, especially divers. It is best known for its world-famous diving sites, specifically the Monad Shoal where thresher sharks can be seen and observed regularly before sunrise.
The Best of Malapascua Island
As I was saying, the island of Malapascua is perfect for a beach vacay. There are quite a number of beaches waiting for you to explore and I have a list of some for you:
1. LIGHTHOUSE BEACH
If you are up for snorkelling, Lighthouse Beach is perfect for you because of the Japanese wreck submerged in the shallows. The skeleton of the ship is what remains, and became an artificial reef. Lighthouse beach is accessible by foot or a short habal-habal ride from anywhere on the island.

Year 2017, on our way to Kalanggaman Island, we dropped by Malapascua Island, because it was along the way our trip to Leyte. Same as all the other islands in the Philippines, Malapascua Island has a white sand beach, a crystal clear water, and a healthy marine biodiversity. If you happen to have a plan to visit Kalanggaman Island, I suggest you visit Malapascua Island as well!

Dana
Perth is a beautiful round island with a very fine white sand beach. I was already attracted by the beach when the boat was docked.
The island is not too big. There are many tall coconut trees. The sand is extremely white and delicate. The foot feels like milk powder. The sea around the island is deep blue and blue.
What is even more rare is that the shore corals are said to be very well protected, and the types of fish are also very rich. The legend that the beach and the snorkeling cannot be combined is broken.
Look at the mountains and the sea in front of you. A moment of aphasia, I think, falling in love with the sea, perhaps far more than the beach coconut forest, but in the arms of the ocean, to find the original feeling of life.
