Gorgeous Lake in Queenstown
Lake Wakatipu is an inland lake visible from Queenstown and it is the longest lake in New Zealand. The view of this is gorgeous from every angle. When viewing from Queenstown, get to a high point and enjoy the panoramic view from above. #bucketlistreboot

To hike up the Ben Lomond without taking the gondola starts from the trail beside the cemetery up to the gondola station and then walk follow the sign until you arrive at the peak of Ben Lomond. The view from the Gondola station view deck is awesome, you can enjoy the view of the Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu.

This is a very attractive lake that borders Queenstown. There are many options for enjoying the including cruises, jet skis and paddle boarding, but be careful as the water is very cold and a thick wetsuit is recommended. Interestingly, there is a seiche that is a slow tidal wave that is sort of like a tide that raises and lowers the water level by 8 inches every 27 minutes. #wintergetaway

On the way to Mount Cook, passing through Lake Wakatipu, Maori is the devil's lair. It belongs to the glacial lake like Lake Tekapo, and it has a different blue color in the sun. Here you can see the snow peaks of Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest peak. Although it is summer, because the water is formed by the melting of the glaciers, it is still very cold.

Trip to Queenstown 🇳🇿
It was a trip to Queenstown, New Zealand. We visited a few places for hiking. If you love hiking like us, we highly recommend two incredible trails that we explored. These spots offer stunning views and are perfect for capturing breathtaking photos 📸 especially when timed just right.
Queenstown Hill Walk
We kicked off our hiking adventure with the Queenstown Hill Walk, a must-do for anyone visiting the area. Starting early around 8:00 AM ☀️ allowed us to enjoy the trail in the crisp morning air, with fewer people on the path. As we made our way up, the views over Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding peaks unfolded beautifully. One of our favorite spots for a photo was the Basket of Dreams sculpture. The light hitting the lake and mountains in the morning made for perfect photo opportunities, so be sure to stop and capture that magic! This hike is relatively short but offers one of the best panoramic views over Queenstown highly recommended.
📍 Belfast Terrace, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand
Ben Lomond Track
Ben Lomond Track was the pinnacle of our Queenstown hiking experience🏔️ We started early at around 7:00 AM to give ourselves enough time to reach the summit and enjoy the scenery along the way. The trail begins at the top of the Skyline Gondola and quickly takes you into alpine territory. We found the saddle (halfway up) to be a fantastic spot to take a break and snap some photos 📸 of the incredible view over the town and lake. If you’re feeling adventurous, continue up to the summit for panoramic views of the Southern Alps, the sight is nothing short of awe-inspiring. The lighting here is best in the morning or late afternoon when the sun bathes the mountains in a warm glow.
📍Top of the Skyline Gondola, Brecon Street, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand
Both trails offer unique perspectives of Queenstown’s beautiful landscapes and are perfect for those who love scenic photography and nature 🙌🙌🙌

Queenstown, named one of the top ten travel destinations in the world by National Geographic
Queenstown, named one of the top ten travel destinations in the world by National Geographic
👍Most recommended:
Queenstown: Surrounded by the Southern Alps and located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the houses in the town are built in a well-proportioned manner facing the lake and the mountains. It was named because the colonists believed that the beautiful scenery here should belong to the Queen of England. It is also famous for its rich and diverse outdoor activities, and is also known as the "Adventure Capital of the World."
Lake Wakatipu: The second longest lake in New Zealand, with an area of 291K㎡, a length of 84km, and an average depth of 300m. Due to special geographical conditions, the wind pressure changes in the surrounding mountains form "lake earthquakes", resulting in a unique "tidal" phenomenon. Its water surface rises or falls by about 7.5-20cm every 6 minutes. According to Maori legend, this phenomenon is caused by the heartbeat of Mata'u, a sleeping giant at the bottom of the lake. There is still a "good friend" on the lake who has been with him for more than a hundred years. She is the "Lady of the Lake" TSS Earnslaw steamship.
TSS Twin Screw Steamer Earnslaw: Known as the “grande dame” of Lake Wakatipu, it made its maiden voyage in 1912 in the same year as the Titanic. It is the only coal-fired steam passenger ship still sailing in the southern hemisphere. A must-see cruise in Queenstown. Friends, come and set foot on this small 19th-century industrial revolution heritage. Listen to its whistling and accompanied by the music of the luthier, travel to the McKenzie Family Farm/Walter Peak Farm and experience the comfortable life of a cowboy. After returning, you can go to the Boradwalk next to the pier to dine. Be sure to choose the outfield by the lake. Listen to the sound of waves by the lake, cuddle up by the fire, have a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, Cheers! No regrets in life!
Dear friends! Even though the wine is good, don’t be greedy!
🚉Transportation guide:
Pier Navigation: TSS Earnslaw-RealNZ Ferry Ticket Package:
① Round trip single boat ticket: price 99ZND/person (adult), 49ZND/person (child).
②Round-trip boat ticket + Walter Peak Farm + afternoon tea: price 145ZND/person (adult), 65ZND/person (child).
③ Round trip boat ticket + Walter Peak horse riding + afternoon tea: price 219ZND/person (adult), 169ZND/person (child).
④ Round trip boat ticket + Walter Peak Farm + BBQ: price 175 ZND/person (adult), 89 ZND/person (child). Kind tips
Purchase tickets for the cruise at least one day in advance:
The time required for the round-trip single boat ticket project is about 1.5 hours, and the other projects are
3.5h;
The introduction and performance of the farm are all explained in English;
When visiting the farm, be sure to follow the guided tour, and children must pay attention to safety.
Queenstown Gardens: Located on a peninsula on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, not far from the TSS Earnslaw Steamship Terminal. When I went there, the light was perfect and it looked like a scene in Alice in Wonderland. Kind tips
The town center is not big, so it is recommended to park at the hotel and walk there.
Hey guys! There are also Big Face Burger, Internet celebrity candy store and Cookietime store (this store is better than the Auckland Factory store) waiting for you to order your cards!

Glenorchy, New Zealand
Glenorchy, New Zealand, is located at the northernmost tip of Lake Wakatipu and is also a filming location for the magical world, just 45 kilometers from Queenstown. Surrounded by mountains and forests, the area is majestic and lush with beautiful scenery. The lakes, rivers, grasslands, and pastures here are largely preserved in their natural state, known as the place with the most 'Middle-earth' character, where one can fully experience 100% pure New Zealand. The drive from Queenstown to this place follows Lake Wakatipu, with the lake on the left side of the road, flanked by high mountains on one side and the lake on the other, and is acclaimed as one of the top ten most beautiful self-drive routes in the world. Queenstown Travel Diary
Queenstown is a picturesque gem in the heart of New Zealand's South Island, a paradise for travelers. With its stunning scenery, adrenaline-pumping activities, and enchanting atmosphere, it's no wonder it's known as the adventure capital of the world. Here's a glimpse of my unforgettable trip to Queenstown.
Upon arrival, the first thing that caught my eye was the breathtaking beauty of Lake Wakatipu. The crystal-clear waters unfolded before me, surrounded by majestic mountains that seemed to pierce the sky. I couldn't help but take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, immersing myself in the tranquility around me.
The next day, I embarked on a thrilling adventure with a bungee jump at the famous Kawarau Bridge. Standing on the edge, looking down at the emerald waters below, my heart raced with excitement as I plunged into the abyss. The force of the free fall and the exhilarating rebound made me feel more alive than ever.
Eager to explore more of Queenstown's natural wonders, I ventured to the nearby Fiordland National Park. Driving through winding roads with picturesque views, I arrived at Milford Sound, an astonishing fjord known for its towering waterfalls and striking cliffs. Sailing along the tranquil waters, I was captivated by the magnificent scenery and felt humbled by the grandeur of nature.
Back in Queenstown, I enjoyed some well-deserved relaxation at a local spa. In the serene setting, I indulged in a revitalizing massage, releasing all the stress and worries of everyday life.
As the sun began to set, I headed to the Queenstown Skyline Gondola to take in the panoramic view of the town bathed in golden hues. At the summit, I savored delicious cuisine at the Stratosfare Restaurant while admiring the magnificent views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range.
Before bidding farewell to this enchanting destination, I couldn't resist one last adventure—a helicopter flight over the Southern Alps, taking in the scenery. Soaring above rugged peaks and icy glaciers, I was in awe of the beautiful landscape below.
As I reflect on my time in Queenstown, I am filled with gratitude for the unforgettable experiences and memories created in this magical corner of the world. From heart-stopping adventures to moments of serene beauty, Queenstown truly captured my heart and left an indelible mark on my soul. Until we meet again, goodbye, Queenstown—you will always hold a special place in my heart.

Lake Wakatipu | The Dreamy Lake of Love
Lake Wakatipu is the third largest lake in New Zealand and is also an ancient glacial lake. The entire lake area is surrounded by mountains, and the famous tourist city Queenstown is located in the middle of the lake area. From Queenstown, heading north along the lake, you can reach Glenorchy, and heading south along the lake, you can pass through Kingston to reach Fiordland National Park.
The weather in the lake area is changeable, sometimes clear and sometimes shrouded in mist, with the lake water presenting shades of blue or green under different light reflections. In Queenstown, you can take a cruise or to tour the lake. Sitting on the beach of Queenstown Park in the evening waiting for the sunset is definitely an unforgettable and wonderful experience.

Lake Wakatipu, shaped like a lightning bolt⚡, is the third largest lake in New Zealand. Due to its unique shape, a unique 'tidal' phenomenon is formed on the lake. Formed by glacial movement, it is surrounded by mountains, with the highest Mount Earnslaw at an altitude of 2819 meters.
📍In the embrace of Queenstown on the South Island, Lake Wakatipu reflects the magnificence of the Remarkables mountain range like a mirror, further feeling the magnificent and wonderful nature❗
🔆Walking by the lake, as if in a fairyland, the lake and the mountains together paint a grand picture. Here, you can have a deep conversation with nature, it is a good place to relax and enjoy😀
🧊All year round, visitors can fish in Lake Wakatipu. Especially at the mouths of the Greenstone River and Lochy River, there are a large number of salmon, which is a paradise for anglers, and you will definitely not make a vain trip. In summer, it is a popular place for swimming and cooling off, which is popular with tourists🤗🤗
✅Must experience: The antique steamboat T.S.S. Earnslaw offers several ferry services to the other end of the lake, Walter Peak, every day.🚤 You can also take an old steamboat to explore the old memories along the traces of the years. Boating on the lake, experiencing leisurely and comfortable time, is an incomparable enjoyment.
Lake Wakatipu, shaped like lightning, is the third largest lake in New Zealand. The Dart River is located at the north end of the lake, where the lake water flows in; the Kawarau River originates from Queenstown, and the lake water flows out from here. Due to the intense glacial movement, Lake Wakatipu was formed, surrounded by mountains. Among them, Mount Earnslaw is the highest, with an altitude of 2819 meters.
The towns around the lake include Queenstown, the villages of Kingston, Glenorchy, and Kinloch. Due to the unique shape of Lake Wakatipu, a unique "tidal" phenomenon (more accurately, a large lake quake or "standing wave") is formed on the lake surface, and the water surface rises and falls about 10 cm every 25 minutes.
According to the legend of the Maori people, this is because a water monster named Matau is sleeping at the bottom of the lake, and it is its heartbeat that causes the phenomenon of "tide rise and fall" on the lake surface.

A beautiful town relying on the Alps and surrounded by the beautiful Lake Wakatipu has become the most beautiful place in New Zealand. The town is built on both sides of the lake, relying on the Alps. Here is like a palette overturned by God, it is the most beautiful collision of color and nature. The blue sky and Lake Wakatipu echo each other, and the Alps in the middle show the most beautiful side. The town's buildings are colorful, like coming to a fairy tale world. Standing on the dock, looking at the sunset in the distance, Queenstown has some fireworks. The pedestrians are crossing, all sighing at the beauty of Queenstown, but they are quietly appreciating the quiet and peaceful scenery in the distance. The sun shines on the snow-capped mountains, the seagulls interact with the tourists on the shore, and all they see is the sunset glow of Queenstown Pier.

Queenstown Reverie: Lake's Embrace Beckons
#2024wish
In 2023, my motorhome journey to Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu etched memories that linger like a cherished dream. The crisp air of Queenstown embraced the breathtaking Southern Alps, creating a picturesque backdrop for our adventure. As we meandered along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, its crystal-clear waters mirrored the surrounding peaks, casting a mesmerizing reflection. Every twist in the road revealed a new panorama, each more awe-inspiring than the last. Queenstown's vibrant atmosphere and the serene beauty of the lake left an indelible mark on my soul. As the sun dipped behind the mountains, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, I couldn't help but whisper, "In 2024, I wish to go there again."

South Island, New Zealand: Tourist Destination ~ Queenstown
📍Queenstown is located on the edge of Lake Wakatipu on the South Island of New Zealand, a city surrounded by lakes and mountains.
🌟 Queenstown is a beautiful town surrounded by the Southern Alps, with picturesque scenery, and is a must-visit tourist destination on the South Island.
Queenstown has a famous Skyline Gondola cable car. Taking the cable car to the top of the mountain, you can overlook the panoramic view of the town from the 270-degree viewing corridor on the second floor.
The Queenstown city area is located on the edge of Lake Wakatipu, a deep blue alpine lake. Tourists can stroll along the lake and enjoy the spectacular lake view.
In the center of Queenstown, there is a statue of William and Merino sheep, commemorating William Gilbert Rees who built the first building in Queenstown, discovered the first gold mine, and introduced the first batch of Merino sheep.
Queenstown has the only ancient steamship TSS Earnslaw still sailing in the southern hemisphere. This is an old-fashioned twin-screw steamship from the Edwardian era in 1912, which has now become a landmark in Queenstown for a century.
Tourists can lean on the deck and overlook the beautiful lake and mountains of Queenstown by taking the ancient steamship. Tourists can also buy a package ticket to reach the Walter Peak Highland Farm on the west bank, to watch sheep shearing and sheepdog herding, and then have a BBQ buffet.
📌Small Tips: You need to book the ancient steamship 3 days in advance, and it is closed for maintenance from May to June every year.

Colorful rainbow
Cities around the world are beautiful because of water, and Queenstown is even more charming because of New Zealand's third largest lake, "Lake Wakatipu". Unexpectedly, the original plan to take the cable car to Bob's Peak was suspended for two months due to equipment maintenance, so I had to switch to hiking. The hiking trail was not easy, with rugged paths and some places requiring hands and feet. Unexpectedly, I encountered a beautiful rainbow halfway up the mountain, bringing me good luck!

A steamship that rivals a floating museum.
When visiting Queenstown in the South Island of New Zealand, it is a must to take a ride on the famous steamship. Tickets should be booked in advance as there is no guarantee of availability on the day of travel, with a maximum capacity of 350 passengers.
Location: There is a small pier on the lakeside in the center of Queenstown City. The building is a ticket office, and you can board the ship after leaving the ticket office.
Ship name: TSS Earnslaw, a twin screw steamer, nicknamed "The Lady of the Lake".
Ticket prices: There are various package boat tickets. Round-trip boat tickets cost just over 300 yuan. Boat tickets plus a visit to the ranch and lunch cost 600 yuan. Boat tickets plus morning or afternoon tea and a visit cost 500 yuan. Boat tickets plus a visit and dinner cost nearly 700 yuan. Choose according to your interests and time.
History: A transport ship built in England in 1912, costing 20,000 pounds. Its parts were shipped to New Zealand for assembly. With the development of highways and the decline of shipping, it was converted into a tourist ship in 1969. Now it is the only steam-powered ship in the southern hemisphere.
Duration of the trip: round trip takes one and a half hours, with a boat departing every two hours. We took the 10:30 am flight, but if we visit the ranch and have a meal, we will take a later flight back.

Nice lakefront @ Lake Wakatipu (Queenstown)
#tripblazers #mytripvlog
Lakefront view at Lake Wakatipu can be both enjoyed on a cruise ship on the lake or a simple stroll along the lakefront on a beautiful evening like this. Many activities and attractions are open till later on longer summer days, and the sky is still very bright despite it being close to 8pm in the evening. Highly recommended to drop by for a visit especially during the golden hour of dusk/dawn if you want nice views and pictures!
