History frozen in time...
Visiting Kronstadt and its famous Kronstadtskaya Fortress near St. Petersburg was a really interesting experience. The fortress has a lot of history, and walking around the old walls gave me a real sense of how important this place was for Russia's naval defense. The area feels peaceful, almost like a step back in time.
I really enjoyed walking along the waterfront, watching the boats and soaking in the atmosphere. There’s a beautiful cathedral, too, with striking architecture. If you visit, take your time and explore the old harbor area—it’s full of character.
A tip: Kronstadt is a bit off the beaten path, so it’s quieter than the typical tourist spots. The ferry ride from St. Petersburg is also a nice bonus—it gives you a different view of the city. Overall, it was a cool, laid-back spot to explore and learn about Russia’s naval history.
