Exploring the Charm of Kennedy Town
Kennedy Town, a historic neighborhood on the western edge of Hong Kong Island, offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy. An island tour of Kennedy Town reveals a rich tapestry of culture, history, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking to experience the multifaceted essence of Hong Kong.
Kennedy Town’s history dates back to the mid-19th century when it was established as a residential and commercial hub. Named after the seventh governor of Hong Kong, Sir Arthur Kennedy, this area was originally a sleepy fishing village. Today, it retains traces of its colonial past, with old buildings and narrow lanes that tell stories of a bygone era.
In recent years, Kennedy Town has undergone significant transformation, thanks to the extension of the MTR Island Line, which has brought new life to the area. The neighborhood is now a hip, trendy enclave with a growing expatriate community. Stylish cafes, boutique shops, and art galleries have sprung up, blending seamlessly with the older establishments. This juxtaposition of the old and new makes Kennedy Town a fascinating place to explore. Visitors can enjoy a cup of artisanal coffee while watching elderly locals practice tai chi in the nearby park, a scene that perfectly encapsulates the harmonious coexistence of tradition and modernity.

Relaxing Island Tour Starts with % Arabica Kennedy Town
Stepping into % Arabica Kennedy Town, one is immediately struck by the clean lines and minimalist decor that define the space. The interior design reflects the brand’s philosophy: simplicity and focus on quality. The white walls, wooden accents, and the open layout create a sense of calm, allowing customers to fully engage with the coffee experience.
One of the defining features of % Arabica Kennedy Town is its location by the harbor. The proximity to the water adds a unique dimension to the coffee experience. The gentle sound of the waves, the sight of boats passing by, and the ever-changing light reflecting off the water create a serene atmosphere that enhances the enjoyment of the coffee. The harbor serves as a reminder of the city’s rich maritime history and its constant state of flux, much like the evolving nature of Kennedy Town itself.
For many, enjoying a cup of coffee at % Arabica by the harbor becomes a ritual, a moment of peace amidst the chaos of city life. The combination of expertly crafted coffee, thoughtful design, and the tranquil harbor views make this café a destination, not just for locals but for visitors seeking a unique coffee experience in Hong Kong.

Travel in Hong Kong from Victoria Harbour to Sham Shui Po
Hong Kong 🇭🇰 is the Pearl of the Orient in our country; the entire Hong Kong is divided into three parts: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories. Our journey will also unfold from these three parts.
🚉 Transportation Guide: From Shenzhen to Hong Kong 🇭🇰, you can take the high-speed train to Hong Kong. The fare from Futian High-Speed Rail Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon is 68 yuan, and from Shenzhen North to Hong Kong West Kowloon is 75 yuan. The high-speed train is very fast and has seats, and you will arrive in the core area of Hong Kong!
✅ When you get off at Hong Kong West Kowloon, remember to follow the instructions to get a dining coupon of 200 HKD with a 100 HKD discount. After the half-price discount, dining in Hong Kong is almost the same as in the mainland;
✅ On the way from West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station to Elements Shopping Mall, you can see the unbeatable sea view of Victoria Harbour. The sea view here is as good as any sea view hotel 🏨, and it is free. There is also a Victoria Harbour viewing platform; the view is from Kowloon Peninsula looking towards Hong Kong!
🗓 Itinerary: After seeing the sea view of Victoria Harbour, continue to the popular Kennedy Town for the famous sea view!
📝 Tips: Take the MTR, Island Line to the terminal Kennedy Town, exit at Exit C, go up the stairs, pass through the Children's Park (Children's Park is open from 7 am to 11 pm), walk along the football field to the basketball court, here you can see the wire fence and the popular photo spot, where you can get the best photography location!
🗓 Itinerary: Then return to the MTR station, continue to take the Island Line back to Admiralty. In Admiralty, you can see the Legislative Council of Hong Kong and other Hong Kong government institutions, as well as the world-famous Hong Kong Stock Exchange!
Although the Hong Kong stock market has been performing poorly in recent years... the Hong Kong Stock Exchange still has many companies ringing the bell for listing every day. The Hong Kong Exchange Square is also worth checking out.
🗓 Itinerary: Then take the MTR, Tsuen Wan Line, and enter Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, and Yau Ma Tei, which are collectively known as the Yau Tsim Mong area in Hong Kong.
In Tsim Sha Tsui, you can check out the popular K11 Musea shopping mall 🏬, which is more like a shopping mall built in an art gallery, with many artworks 🖼️ inside; you can also check out the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower, which is one of the landmarks of Hong Kong;
Mong Kok is a very important commercial retail center in Hong Kong, with shopping malls like Langham Place, and it is also a place for shopping 🛍️ in Hong Kong;
Yau Ma Tei is connected to Mong Kok, you can walk from Mong Kok City Walk. The Yau Ma Tei Police Station is worth checking out, as many TVB police dramas were filmed here 🎬, and there is also Temple Street in Hong Kong, which appears in many gangster movies; it feels like stepping into a Hong Kong movie;
Finally, continue to take the Tsuen Wan Line to Sham Shui Po, where there is a street/boundary street, which is also the boundary line between Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories;
Sham Shui Po is a very local area, where the locals live, and you can experience the local atmosphere of Hong Kong. Sham Shui Po has appeared in many TVB dramas; In addition, the headquarters of Wong To Yick is in Sham Shui Po. Previously, you could buy products at the headquarters, but now it is said that it is difficult to buy them at the headquarters.
The one-day travel guide in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 ends here 🔚. You can stay in Hong Kong for one night and see my itinerary for the second day. If you like it, you can follow me for more travel guides.

If you only have one day for a city walk in Hong Kong, just copy this itinerary
Having shuttled back and forth between Guangzhou and Hong Kong since childhood, I've been to Hong Kong 800 times!
I've summarized an itinerary that allows you to have a 360-degree view of Hong Kong and also wander through the streets to savor the local Hong Kong vibe.
Just spend one day following this route to experience the charm of Hong Kong.
🚩Itinerary: Sky100 - Ding Ding Tram - Sai Ying Pun - The University of Hong Kong - Kennedy Town
🔸Sky100
Take the elevator and reach the 100th floor in 60 seconds!
From here, you can have a 360-degree view of Hong Kong, with both mountain and sea views at a glance, this view is really too dreamy!
📍If you're coming from the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail, it's about a 10-minute walk! And there are luggage lockers downstairs, making it super convenient to visit!
🔸Ding Ding Tram
When in Hong Kong, you must try the Ding Ding tram, with a fare of only 3 HKD!
In service for over a hundred years, it has a nostalgic charm and offers a cheap and convenient way to travel around.
📍After coming down from Sky100, take the MTR from Kowloon Station (East Rail Line) for one stop to Hong Kong Station, then walk to Pedder Street to catch the Ding Ding tram (Westbound).
🔸Sai Ying Pun
If Central is the commercial CBD area, then Sai Ying Pun is where you can find the local Hong Kong atmosphere.
The streets that are slightly off the beaten path and the scenery near the sea give this place many unique visual experiences.
📍Get off the Ding Ding tram at Eastern Street Station.
🔸The University of Hong Kong
HKU is a world-renowned institution that has not only cultivated many talents but also has a beautiful campus!
The European architectural style and the comfortable greenery make wandering around the campus a special experience.
However, remember to book online in advance if you want to visit The University of Hong Kong!
📍Exit C1 of the HKU Station (MTR Island Line).
🔸 Kennedy Town
Here, you can see the romantic interplay of ferries and Ding Ding trams, presenting visitors with a romantic scene unique to Hong Kong.
After taking photos, walk towards the sea, enjoy the breeze, it's really too comfortable.
📍Exit C of Kennedy Town Station (MTR Island Line).

Kennedy Town: Where Tradition Meets Modernity
Kennedy Town, nestled on the western end of Hong Kong Island, is an unassuming neighborhood that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity.
The waterfront has been revamped into an attraction in its own right. Imagine sipping coffee while overlooking the sea – it’s a quintessential Kennedy Town experience. Hidden bars dot the shoreline, making it a perfect spot for sunset drinks.
Kennedy Town’s relaxed atmosphere is contagious. Minutes away from bustling Central Hong Kong, it’s a haven for those seeking a slower pace of life. Gentrification has breathed new life into the district, serving the community with thoughtful redevelopment.
Thanks to the MTR station, getting to Kennedy Town from Central takes less than 10 minutes. Trams, buses, and cabs also connect you to this gem.
Beyond dining, explore scenic hikes, DIY workshops, and cultural gems. Kennedy Town strikes a balance between urban living and natural beauty. It’s a place where you can sip coffee, stroll along the waterfront, and immerse yourself in local life. Next time you’re in town, don’t miss the chance to explore this dynamic neighborhood!

Hong Kong Photography | The sea at Kennedy Town is stunningly beautiful
🌊Kennedy Town - Sai Wan Swimming Shed
You can walk from Kennedy Town MTR station exit C for about 20min to get there
But I don't recommend it ❌ It's all uphill!
(Don't ask me how I know..
Taking the bus is also very convenient, a 2min ride takes you right to the swimming shed entrance
🚌From Kennedy Town MTR exit B - walk 120m to "Belcher's Street" - take bus route 971, 43M, or A10 to "Caritas Jockey Club Hostel" stop
⚠Be aware that the entrance to the swimming shed is quite small
There's about 150m of downhill stairs to walk down to get there
The stairs are a bit steep, so be careful~
You'll need to queue up for photos, there are still many girls there to check in, so allow plenty of time

🥾🇭🇰 Hiking in Hong Kong 🇭🇰🥾
We completed the coastal path around Hong Kong Island! Totalling 65km, it took us 3 days. Fantastic experience to explore the variety that the island has to offer.
The views were spectacular, of both natural and
urban scenery. Some highlights were Repulse beach (quite the opposite of repulsive), Kennedy town, and the Dragon's Back trail.
Most of the coastal path is on the actual coast, but some stretches require a detour inland. There was a lot of building work happening in the north west of the island, presumably when finished will improve the path in that area.
Top tips: Pre-planning accommodation is essential. Plenty of public toilets on the route. Public transport is also VERY efficient if needed. Highly recommend the walk, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

A 4-day, 3-night retro journey on foot through Hong Kong
Hong Kong is truly what I consider to be an excellent destination for short trips of 3-4 days. Having undergone the turning of the wheels of time, the blend of old and new cultures gives this city a kaleidoscope of colors. Whether it's the Hong Kong films in my memory or the Cantopop music, they all inspire endless longing and daydreams. I love Hong Kong, I love traveling, and this time, after a three-year hiatus, I set foot on a Hong Kong journey again, walking 30,000 steps each day, traversing my 'playlist' and my 'movie list'.
.
🎡 Itinerary
DAY1️⃣: Arrive in Hong Kong in the morning—Sai Ying Pun—Kennedy Town—Take the tram—Monster Building in Quarry Bay
DAY2️⃣: Check in at MTR stations (Mong Kok-Yau Ma Tei)—Nathan Road—Yau Ma Tei Police Station—Neon signs on Bowring Street in Mong Kok
DAY3️⃣: Central Market—Tsim Sha Tsui—Avenue of Stars in Victoria Harbour—Central Ferris Wheel—Take the cable car to Victoria Peak to enjoy the night view
.
🎡 Attractions
☑️ Kennedy Town: Fulfill your romantic fantasies of the harbor, enjoy a cup of coffee in the sea breeze and quietly wait for the sunset, and you can also take the tram here for a different scenic tour
☑️ Mong Kok: The street scenes of Mong Kok really transport you back to the 80s and 90s in an instant, every snapshot is retro Hong Kong style. The neon signs on Bowring Street are classic elements of the golden age of movies, standing under the signs captures the bizarre and dazzling scenes from Wong Kar-wai's films
☑️ Victoria Harbour: Stroll along the Avenue of Stars, check in with the handprints and statues of celebrities, sit by the sea at dusk waiting for the sunset, and as night falls and the lights come on, the night view of Victoria Harbour gradually becomes dreamy and romantic
☑️ Central: Visit the Central Market to check in at the filming location of the movie 'Nameless', take a ride on the dreamy Ferris wheel for just 20 Hong Kong dollars, and try the classic ice cream from the Richman's ice cream cart
☑️ Nathan Road: The streets lined with tall buildings, the retro trams and taxis shuttle on the streets, making for a great photo backdrop
☑️ Victoria Peak: Take the cable car to the top of Victoria Peak at night to overlook the night view of the entire harbor
.
🎡 Some very useful tips
1️⃣ Transportation: Use Alipay/WeChat directly, open the ride code and switch the city to Hong Kong, then you can take the MTR, note that only the purple gate can be used (other transportation such as trams, buses, taxis require an Octopus card or cash)
2️⃣ Accommodation: It is recommended to stay in Kowloon or Hong Kong Island for convenience in sightseeing and food hunting
3️⃣ Hong Kong's temperature is quite stuffy and hot, be sure to do well in sun protection and heat avoidance when traveling in summer
4️⃣ Hong Kong uses British three-pin plugs, remember to bring a converter
5️⃣ Remember to activate additional data before departure
6️⃣ Many old-fashioned restaurants, food stalls, and snack shops in Hong Kong still only accept cash, remember to prepare more Hong Kong dollars

For this set of photos! I walked 30,000 steps in Hong Kong with my camera
The dense skyscrapers, the endless stream of people and vehicles...
I just love the street scenes of Hong Kong, it's like stepping into a Hong Kong movie.
Wandering the streets, I captured more than just these images.
Here's a must-shoot list of spots 📷, highly recommended to save!!

1. Kennedy Town
There are many streets leading to the sea, but the place where you can see the TVB minibus, the Ding Ding tram🚎, and the sunset seascape at the same time is here. Take the subway🚇 to Kennedy Town station exit C, look through the basketball court's chain-link fence, and even if many people have taken photos here, you have to get your own shot 📷.

-
3. North Point Fire Station
I regret not bringing an ultra-wide-angle lens. The pink checkerboard buildings and the red taxis are very eye-catching on the street, and it's that kind of comfort that satisfies my OCD!!
-
4. Arsenal Street
The Ding Ding tram and the mix of old and new architecture, just stand on the overpass and you can easily take great photos 📷. The characters on the road, full of Hong Kong style~
-
5. Sai Ying Pun Street
The church on the hillside⛪️, on an overpass in Sai Ying Pun, walking through several blocks all the way, it's great for taking photos. Both looking down the slope and looking up are perfect for shots 📷.

Complete Guide to Hong Kong Tourism
Hong Kong is a city that is both strange and familiar. It's my first time here, but walking on the streets can evoke memories of Hong Kong movies at any time🎞️

Here are my 9⃣️ favorite spots in Hong Kong, remember to save them~

The end of the road is the sea, wait for a tram🚎 to pass by with a telephoto lens, it's a postcard of Hong Kong. Navigate to the two-story basketball court on the left hand side of Kennedy Town Exit C.
P3📍Winstons coffee
It's just below the Kennedy Town basketball court. The dark-themed HONG KONG sign is great for photos, remember to buy a cup of coffee before shooting.
P4📍Third Street, Sai Ying Pun
It's an uphill section of road, the end of the road is the sea, capture the passing pedestrians and red taxis, it's very Hong Kong~
P5📍Tung Choi Street (Goldfish Street), Mong Kok
Goldfish Street at night really looks like a scene from a Wong Kar-wai movie, the red lights create a great atmosphere~
P6📍Mong Kok Bus
The streets are full of buses, at night under the red and green lights, it's full of Hong Kong flavor~ The spot is on the overpass at "Mong Kok MTR Station Exit B3"

P8📍Gun Club Street
Shoot from the overpass, the road surface full of road signs satisfies all my imaginations of Hong Kong, this is also a spot to shoot the tram.
P9📍Hoi Shan Building (Monster Building)
The densely packed residential buildings are one of my impressions of Hong Kong, shooting the tram and the residential buildings in the same frame, full of the old Hong Kong's market atmosphere.

📍Kennedy Town
🇭🇰 Hello, today we are in Hong Kong. Gammy will take you to visit the Hong Kong Island area. To get there, we will take the dark blue MTR line to the last stop at Kennedy Town Station.
🚃 This city is famous for its trams or trams. The trams here will circle the city. 💰 The price is the same for the entire line, 3 Hong Kong dollars or 15 baht.
✨ The car has 2 floors. It doesn't go very fast. Go slowly. The view along the way is very beautiful. It is a view of tall buildings, different colors in the city. It is a new experience.
🩷 The cuteness is that each car has a cute cartoon and many colors.

Hong Kong has something new on every street
Wasn’t really expecting anything as we walked to our hotel during dinner but then we ran into this show for a festival this time of year. An out door Chinese opera put on for the community. Also we got to burn ghost money for the festival and that was fun and interesting. Getting lost in Hong Kong is a little hard so I recommend just exploring and trying to get lost and found again this is how we found this out door Chinese opera that was very fun.#trip

Instagrammable spot in Kennedy Town
#hongkongtrip
The Sai Wan swimming shed, located about 15 to 20 minutes walk away from Kennedy Town, is a popular photospot that exudes a mysterious vibe especially at dawn and dusk. This place was used in the past when experienced swimmers have their swimming fix in the sea.
However, behind the instagrammable moments, it is so popular that there was an extremely long queue to wait for one's turn to take the shots. Also, the swimming shed is actually closed off with a metal gate. To access the wooden boardwalk leading towards the sea, you have to conquer railings and slippery rocks at the side of the metal gate. You will definitely need someone to help you take from over the metal gate, because if you try to use tripod, the strong waves can come onto the path and sweep it away.

Sooper Yoo
Totally missed this one out 😂 We were there before indoor playhouse required vaccine pass (VP) for kids under 12.
Having a 10,000 square foot space, Sooper Yoo offers a place to explore, climb, learn and play. There are different areas and sections, the first 2 are my kids’ favourite
1. Scramble Course is a 2-3 level maze with slides, climbers and obstacles along the way
2. Yoozoo Racer is an interactive game where kids run alongside animated animals to test their running speed on track
3. Sooper Slap is a game to test their agility and reaction
4. VR cave is pretty common now, virtual world with games, kids basically just smacking the wall to hit the target
There are other like Formula Yoo Sooper Loop (race remote control cars by riding the bike, for kids 130cm and above), Sooper Kix (a VR version of soccer game) and Digi Decks (table games on digital).
Kids think: ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Mom thinks: ⭐️ ⭐️
Well, it’s clean and new and fancy but it’s a been there done that thing for us. I highly doubt it’s for age 4 to 17. More likely suitable for age 4 to 8.
Although we prefer outdoor activities, I understand there are parents who feel more comfortable and safer being indoors, especially when the adults taking kids to play are grandparents or helpers.

Kennedy hidden gem Thai fusion restaurant
Really love their signature menu, 4 courses with different food choices, portion is just perfect for 2 ladies who can't eat much, great deal at $268.
Lobster crossiant is definitely their signature appetizer, tasted it years before and still can't forgot how amazing to have hot soup inside the bread, recommend everyone to give a try.
Grilled pork neck, meat is tendered and good match with the sour and spicy thai chilli sauce.
Grilled Skate Wing is not commonly appeared at HK restaurants, the fish texture is not bad and seems quite healthy, not fat at all.
We added morning glory, just can't resist this typical Thai dish.
Creme brulee wrap up the dinner decently, I like it not too sweet and has good balance with pineapple puree.
We both ordered drinks, coconut and Chamomile tea won't go wrong.

Great vehicle to take you to travel in environmentally friendly way
If you want to enjoy the view along Hong Kong Island, especially between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, in an environmentally friendly way, the tram is a must vehicle to try!
The tram is one of the earliest forms of public transport, run since 1904 under British rule. As it is a double-decker tram using the electoral system with open windows and slow speed, you will have enough time to see Hong Kong Island and enjoy the breeze. On top of that, the tram has a super low price. You only need to spend HK$.2 per trip. What else are you waiting for?

📍Kennedy Town
A Hidden Gem in Hong Kong
Kennedy Town is a charming neighborhood on the western end of Hong Kong Island. Known for its laid-back atmosphere, trendy cafes, and scenic waterfront views, it’s a perfect escape from the bustling heart of the city. Despite its relaxed vibe, Kennedy Town is filled with things to see and do, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists.
🚊Getting to Kennedy Town
Getting to Kennedy Town is easy thanks to the MTR (Mass Transit Railway). Simply take the Island Line (blue line) to Kennedy Town Station, which is the final stop. The station is well-located, with multiple exits that lead directly into the heart of the neighborhood.
If you prefer scenic travel, consider taking the Hong Kong Tramways (also known as the "Ding Ding"), which offers a unique, leisurely journey from Central to Kennedy Town. The tram is a great way to experience the sights of the island at a slower pace.
Whether you’re in search of relaxed vibes, charming cafes, or beautiful coastal views, Kennedy Town has something for everyone.
