The filming location of Black Myth: Wukong is in Shanxi!
Last year, I planned a trip to visit ancient buildings as a designer, and checked in at the following classic ancient buildings in Shanxi:
Taiyuan: Jinci Temple, Qingyuan Confucian Temple, Tianlong Temple, Dou Dafu Temple, Shuangta Temple, Chunyang Palace
Xinzhou: Drum Tower, Daizhou Confucian Temple, Foguang Temple, Nanchan Temple, Yanqing Temple, Hongfu Temple, Princess Temple, Yanshan Temple
Datong: Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Hanging Temple, Yong'an Temple, Yuanjue Temple
Lvliang: Taifu Temple
Shuozhou: Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Chongfu Temple, Jingtusi Temple
Jinzhong: Pingyao Ancient City, Houtu Temple, Zishou Temple, Zhenguo Temple, Shuanglin Temple, Jingxin Temple
Ruicheng: Yongle Palace
The twenty-day journey brought me so much shock. The aesthetics, wisdom, and craftsmanship of the ancients are all worth learning from! However, checking in at ancient buildings in Shanxi is not easy. There are many spots and they are scattered. It is recommended to drive by yourself. Some niche ancient buildings are not open to the public and require contacting cultural preservation personnel.

This park and its buildings is the “Museum of Chinese Constructions” throughout history, from 周 to 清. A Sublime place.

Come to Taiyuan, you can't help but come to Jinci. Jinci is located in the southwest of Taiyuan. It is a big park with beautiful scenery, pavilions and towers. The core area of Jinci is the Jinci Museum. There are three national treasures in the garden of this core area: the Madonna, the Temple, and the Cross Bridge. The temple is a combination of pavilions and temples. It is very unique and has been preserved for thousands of years. You will travel there for this purpose. There is also the oldest Zhou Bai, Tang Yan, who seems to tell the story of time. There is also the music of the Yuan Dynasty, which is vivid and vivid, and also provides a reference for studying the music regulation at that time. This time, I was visiting Jinci in the rain, but it has a charm compared to the rainy days.

Shanxi | What makes Jinci Temple, praised by Dong Yuhui, so beautiful?
Jin is the most prosperous in Jinyang, and Jinyang is the most prosperous in Jinci Temple.
The beauty of Jinci Temple can be interpreted in countless ways. Here, you can find the exquisite wooden structures of the Northern Song and Jin dynasties, admire the unparalleled colored sculptures of the Northern Song Dynasty, see the calligraphy stele "Jinci Inscription" by Emperor Taizong of Tang, and even see the only surviving main stone carving of the Tang translation of the Avatamsaka Sutra in China...
Jinci Temple is the largest temple complex in China, but the amazing thing is that when tourists enter Jinci Temple, they don't feel like they are entering a temple, but like they are entering a large garden. This is because Jinci Temple cleverly integrates temple buildings into the natural landscape. Therefore, Jinci Temple is less solemn and solemn, and more interesting in landscape.
A Jinci Temple, half of Chinese history. Traveling in Jinci Temple is like walking through thousands of years of time. There are always endless beautiful scenery, endless art treasures, and endless historical sites in Jinci Temple. Walking through the ancient cypresses and pines of Jinci Temple, the pavilions and pavilions of the past dynasties, you can feel the prosperity of Jinyang culture and touch the mottled marks left by the long history on this land. Deep, magnificent, classical, and quiet, the countless light and shadow of various dynasties overlap, making the depth and breadth, prosperity and beauty of this museum as vast as the sky. The beauty of Jinci Temple is beyond time, and it is beautiful in one glance for thousands of years.

.Taiyuan Jinci Museum.
Taiyuan Jinci Museum is a precious historical and cultural heritage that integrates ancient Chinese ancestral temple architecture, gardens, sculptures, murals, and stone inscriptions. It is located in Jinci Town, Jinyuan District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, 25 km from the city center. Jinci Museum is based on the famous scenic spot Jinci Garden, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and is affiliated with the Taiyuan Cultural Relics Bureau.
The history of Jinci can be traced back to the Western Zhou Dynasty. It was originally built to commemorate Tang Shuyu, the founding marquis of the Jin State (later posthumously named King of Jin), and his mother, Yi Jiang, and was therefore originally named Tang Shuyu Temple. Jinci has gone through the Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and Republic of China periods, and after more than 2,000 years of planning, construction, repair, and expansion, it has become what it is today. Jinci is not only a concentrated carrier of ancient Chinese architectural art, but also preserves stone inscriptions from the Tang Dynasty and more than 100 ancient buildings from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, especially the main building, the Hall of the Holy Mother, which is known as the only typical representative building of the Northern Song Dynasty in the history of ancient Chinese architecture.
Jinci Museum covers a total area of 101,538 square meters, with a building area of more than 25,000 square meters, and has opened the Fu Shan Memorial Hall, Dong Shouping Art Museum, Jinxi Academy, Hanxiang Hall, etc. The museum has a collection of more than 5,000 cultural relics, including ceramics, bronzes, wood, bamboo, jade, embroidery, calligraphy and painting, stone inscriptions, and ancient books, among which 1,600 are precious cultural relics.
Jinci Museum attracts many visitors with its profound historical and cultural background, rich exhibits, and unique architectural style. Recently, Jinci Museum also held the "Song Yun Ingenuity - Song Dynasty Cultural Relics Exhibition", which exhibited more than 200 exhibits (groups) from Jin and Min, interpreting the beauty of Song Yun to the public. The exhibition is divided into four units: "Song of Color - Jian Kiln Jian Zhan", "Song of Rhyme - Flower Arrangement", "Song of Elegance - Incense Burning", and "Song of Style - Human Fireworks", presenting the unique, elegant, and popular exhibits that are close to the life of the Song people, showing the unique style of the Song Dynasty, which is elegant but not fashionable, plain but romantic, and free and easy like a poem or painting.
Jinci Museum is not only an important historical and cultural heritage but also a comprehensive museum integrating education, research, and tourism.

Every Taiyuan local has memories of Jinci Temple.
For locals, it is a familiar place. Schools organize trips to Jinci Temple from the time you start school. Although it is not in the city center, it is not far from the city center. The last time I visited Jinci Temple was when I was still in school.
The Jinci Museum is much larger than before, with a large park surrounding it. Jinci Temple is now a whole scenic area. If you only want to visit the Jinci Museum, it will take at least 15 minutes to walk there after getting off the bus, so you can consider taking the round-trip electric car for ¥10.
As soon as you step into Jinci Temple, you will feel like you have traveled back to the Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasties, and your memories will be pulled back to your school days, because almost nothing has changed. The ancient trees are towering, the shade is like a canopy, and the thousand-year-old trees are still full of vitality.
I have heard since I was a child that it is no longer spring water, but it still does not stop tourists from lining up to taste it. Compared with the rich collection of the Shanxi Museum, the Jinci Museum is slightly monotonous, but the ancient buildings and northern gardens are still worth seeing.
It is even more difficult to see the famous attractions that appear in textbooks. There are three layers of people, and you are not allowed to enter the main hall. Even if you squeeze to the front, you can only look at it from a distance. This is the fate of visiting attractions during holidays.
Of course, it is better to book a guided tour in advance! Otherwise, you will just be looking around. As for the "Jinci Hotel" next door, I don't think it is as good as it is said to be. It is more convenient to stay in the city center, and there is no need to make a special trip.

The ginkgo trees at Jinci Temple are stunning in the fall.
Jinci Temple is a must-see! The museum has a strong magnetic field that has formed over thousands of years, and you can feel its grandeur and depth. The architecture and plaques from different dynasties each have their own characteristics, and the thousands of years of Chinese civilization are embodied in Jinci Temple.
There are two 500-year-old ginkgo trees at the exit of Jinci Temple, and you will be captivated by their beauty at first sight. This is the charm of traditional Chinese aesthetics!
There are several huge ginkgo trees to the west of Nanlao Spring, the most famous of which are the two ginkgo trees in front of the Wang Qiong Temple, one male and one female, which are 500 years old and are said to have been planted by Wang Qiong, a minister of the Ming Dynasty.
When you come to Taiyuan, you must visit the filming location of the 1986 version of Journey to the West, enjoy the autumn scenery, and see the thousand-year-old Zhou cypress and the 500-year-old ginkgo trees. Although the highlights are all in the Jinci Museum, the park outside Jinci Temple is free and also worth a visit. Even if you have watched the documentary about Jinci Temple in advance, you will still need at least half a day to visit.
Although Jinci Temple is called a museum, it is an outdoor attraction. The Jinci Museum is located in Jinci Park. Walk along Jinci Park to reach the Jinci Museum.
Route: Shuijing Terrace - Jinren Terrace - Duiyue Archway - Xiandian - Yuzhao Feiliang - Shengmu Hall - Tang Shuyu Temple - Tangbei Pavilion - Zhou Cypress - Nanlao Spring
Tickets: Jinci Park is free to enter and does not require a ticket. The park is very large, and it is recommended to walk directly along the middle line after entering the main gate, about 600 meters to the Jinci Museum. The Jinci Museum is a national first-class museum and requires a ticket to enter. The current full-price ticket is 80.
Jinci Temple is known as the Museum of Ancient Chinese Architecture, with a complete sequence of architectural eras. It is the only architectural complex that combines the essence of Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing architecture, and there are many ancient and famous trees.
Best time to visit Jinci Temple in autumn: October 20 to November 10.

Jinci Temple: A Treasure of Taiyuan
Jinci Temple: A Treasure of Taiyuan
In the ancient land of Taiyuan, Jinci Temple stands like a monument to history, quietly exuding a charming brilliance that attracts countless travelers to explore.
Stepping into Jinci Temple is like entering a time tunnel isolated from the world. There is no urban hustle and bustle here, only ancient buildings whispering stories of the past. Jinci Temple is a three-dimensional history book, with every page filled with the vicissitudes of time. Its complete sequence of ancient buildings and comprehensive architectural types are an outstanding display of ancient craftsmanship. From the Song to the Qing dynasties, the architectural essence of each era converges here, like a grand architectural feast across time and space.
Strolling through, the Water Mirror Platform welcomes visitors from all directions like a kind old man. The exquisite carvings and paintings on the platform seem to showcase the once-prosperous scene. The imposing iron figures on the Jinren Platform stand like loyal guards, protecting this sacred place, standing firm through wind and rain. The grand and magnificent Duiyue Archway, with its exquisite decorations, reflects the ancient people's unique pursuit of beauty. The simple and atmospheric Xian Hall carries the solemnity of sacrifice. The unique shape of the Flying Bridge Across Fish Pond resembles a bird about to take flight, a masterpiece of ancient architectural art. Shengmu Hall is the core of Jinci Temple, solemn and elegant, with lifelike colored sculptures inside, each with a unique expression, as if telling ancient legends.
On both sides of Jinci Temple, there are more wonders to explore. The gurgling Nanlao Spring flows like the milk of the earth, nourishing the land and giving Jinci Temple a dynamic beauty. The towering Sheli Tower stands solemnly under the sun. The 3,000-year-old Zhou Cypress stands like a wise man, witnessing the rise and fall of Jinci Temple, with its strong branches bearing the marks of time. The Tang Shuyu Hall carries the local history and culture, giving people a deeper understanding of the origin of this land.
Here, every stone and every piece of rubble has its own story. Jinci Temple is not just a tourist attraction, but a place where history and culture blend, a precious treasure of traditional Chinese culture, worthy of our heartfelt appreciation and understanding.

Jinci Museum.
I rarely use the word "shocking" until I met Jinci! Ancient buildings for thousands of years, first look at Shanxi
I've heard this sentence countless times
The ancient buildings are solemn and elegant
The pavilions are scattered, and the carved beams and painted buildings are beautiful
Only when you see it with your own eyes can you truly understand that kind of shock
I have to sigh at the aesthetics and wisdom of the ancestors
When the ancient buildings stand quietly in front of you
What you see is not only a tree🌳, a house🏠

Outline the vicissitudes and glory of history stroke by stroke
It is the traces left in the wind, frost, rain and snow of the years

I would be heartbroken if anyone came to Shanxi and missed Jinci.
People often say, "Read ten thousand books, travel ten thousand miles." When we were young, we were always curious and yearning for the outside world, looking forward to exploring those mysterious places one day.
I remember when I was a child, my impression of Jinci in Shanxi was only limited to the pictures and text introductions in the books. I thought it was just an ancient building with nothing special. However, when I came to Jinci in person after growing up, I realized how one-sided my previous views were.
Walking into Jinci, I seemed to have traveled to ancient times. The buildings here are magnificent and spectacular, and the colored sculptures are lifelike, which makes people can't help but sigh at the wisdom and skills of the ancients. Especially when I saw those elements related to the black myth Wukong, I was even more excited.
When we were young, we always naively thought that the world was what we imagined, and when we grew up, we found that there was a huge gap between reality and imagination. Jinci is a good example. It made me understand that I can't judge a thing just by the surface impression. Only personal experience can truly understand its charm.

The beauty of Jinci.
The beauty of Jinci lies in the mountains, trees, and water... The words from the middle school textbook finally have a concrete image. Jinci has the "three treasures" of Xian Hall, Yuzhuo Flying Beam, and Shengmu Hall; the "three unique" Zhou Cypress, Song Colored Sculpture, and Nanlao Spring. There are also the imperial stele written by Li Erfeng himself, the Song Dynasty bronze man... Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism coexist.
Shengmu Hall, the most beautiful existing Northern Song wooden building in China! The double-eave Xieshan roof is covered with yellow and green glazed tiles, with a width of seven rooms, and the "five largest", unique. The earliest existing wood-carved dragon on the eight corridor columns is still intact and vivid after a thousand years. Great!

Shanxi Tour - Taiyuan.
Shanxi Tour - Taiyuan
Day 1 Check in at Taiyuan Nan Zhonghuan Intercity Hotel (very satisfied) at noon. The front desk upgraded us to a deluxe double room, which was very large.
In the afternoon, we took our child for a nap and left for the Coal Museum at 3 pm. We had to queue up at the entrance to make an appointment for a guide, which cost CNY10 per person. Everyone had to make an appointment, and no one could enter alone. This museum mainly introduces the formation of coal, and there is a 4D short film that you can experience. Then you can go down the mine and let your child experience the environment and mining equipment of the coal mine. PS: There is a "Jinhuagong Underground Adventure" near Yungang Grottoes. Friends who have been there said it was also amazing, so if you haven't arranged a Taiyuan itinerary, you can consider going to Datong.
In the evening, we went to Zhonglou Street. Taiyuan really invested a lot in Mayday, and their presence was felt everywhere on Zhonglou Street. I personally think Zhonglou Street is better than Wuhan's Jianghan Road. The architecture is more distinctive, and there are a lot of "Jinli" cultural and creative products.
Day 2 It rained all day. We were originally going to Tianlongshan Grottoes in the morning and then to Jinci. As the rain didn't stop, we finally couldn'

The beauty of the Three Jin regions is best represented by Jinyang; and the beauty of Jinyang is all in Jinci
On the way back from Tibet to Qinghai, I made a special stop in Taiyuan. The time was very short, only 24 hours. Choosing between Jinci and the Shanxi Museum was a dilemma, so I decided to visit both. Giving up on either would leave a small regret, even if I could visit it later.
Not visiting Jinci would make the trip to Taiyuan in vain, so I made Jinci my first stop. Jinci is located in Jinci Park in the southwest of Taiyuan, about 30 kilometers from the city center. Originally named Tang Shuyu Shrine, it was built by Jin Marquis Xie Father to commemorate his father Tang Shuyu, and was established in the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century BC). It is the earliest existing royal garden in China and the ancestral shrine of the Jin State. The Jinci we see today was rebuilt during the Northern Song Dynasty. The main hall is not the Tang Shuyu Shrine but the Hall of the Holy Mother, which is dedicated to the Holy Mother.
Jinci Park is free to enter, while the Jinci Museum charges an 80 yuan ticket fee. Children under 6 and seniors over 60 are free. The electric car round trip costs 10 yuan. There is some distance from the park entrance to Jinci, so it is recommended to take the electric car.
Unless you have done sufficient homework in advance, it is recommended to hire a guide. The guides in the scenic area charge 100 yuan and 80 yuan, and their levels vary. Some even have heavy accents, so it's worth inquiring beforehand.
The main attractions in Jinci are the Three Wonders, the Three Treasures, and the Three Famous Plaques.
Three Wonders: Song Dynasty colored sculptures, Zhou cypress, and Nanlao Spring
Three Treasures: Offering Hall, Fish Pond Flying Bridge, and Hall of the Holy Mother
Three Famous Plaques: Water Mirror Terrace Plaque, Duiyue Plaque, and Nanlao Plaque
The place is not large, but it has ancient buildings from the Northern Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. To see everything properly, you need to allocate at least three hours. The tour route is:
Water Mirror Terrace (Ming and Qing Opera Stage) → Jinren Terrace (Lotus Terrace) → Stone Stele inscribed by Tang Taizong Li Shimin → Duiyue Archway (Wanli 4th year of the Ming Dynasty) → Offering Hall → Fish Pond Flying Bridge (the world's first overpass) → 3000-year-old Zhou cypress (Wolong cypress) → Hall of the Holy Mother → Nanlao Spring
There are many towering ancient trees in Jinci Park, which seem to stretch the distance between heaven and earth. Despite the crowds, you can still feel the tranquility of Jinci.
Jinci is very beautiful and needs to be experienced in person!

Jinci Temple, a treasure trove of ancient architecture that transcends time.
If you're like me and have a soft spot for ancient architecture, then Jinci Temple in Taiyuan is a must-visit! This is the shining pearl of Shanxi's ancient architecture, with every brick and tile telling a thousand-year-old story.
From a leisurely stroll in Jinci Park to the shocking revelations of the Holy Mother Hall, every corner of Jinci Temple is a testament to history. Here are some highlights of Jinci Temple that you can't miss:
1🗻 Jinrentai (Northern Song Dynasty)
2 🏛️ Duiyue Archway (Ming Dynasty, one of the three plaques of Jinci Temple)
3. 📜 Tang Stele—A treasure of running script (Tang Dynasty)
4 🏡 Tang Shuyu Temple (Ming Dynasty)
5🏰 Xian Hall (one of the three treasures of Jinci Temple, Song Dynasty)
6 🌉 Yuzhuo Flying Beam (one of the three treasures of Jinci Temple, Song Dynasty)
7💧 Nanlao Spring (one of the three unique features of Jinci Temple, Song Dynasty)
8🌲 Zhou Cypress (Zhou Dynasty, one of the three unique features of Jinci Temple)
9🕍 Holy Mother Hall (one of the three treasures of Jinci Temple, Song Dynasty) Jinci Temple houses countless national treasures, which are eye-opening.
It is recommended to choose the official commentator, who can take you to explore every corner of Jinci Temple.
In short, Jinci Temple is an ancient architectural treasure trove worth savoring.

Follow Wukong to Ancient Buildings Finally came to the 'Jinci' in the textbook
✅A long time ago, I read about Jinci in the textbook and yearned for it.
✅I had been to Taiyuan before, but I had not had the chance to visit Jinci. Some say that if you haven't been to Jinci, you haven't truly been to Taiyuan.
✅This time, I finally had the opportunity to visit Jinci.
❤Recommended Reason:
✅Jinci, originally named Tang Shuyu Temple, was built to commemorate Tang Shuyu, the founding marquis of the Jin State (later posthumously titled King of Jin), and his mother, Yi Jiang.
🌟Highlights:
✅Jinci is the earliest existing royal ancestral garden in China. The Sacrificial Hall, Fish Pond Flying Bridge, and Sacred Mother Hall are known as the 'Three Treasures', while the Nanlao Spring, Maid Statues, and Zhou Cypress are known as the 'Three Wonders of Jinci'.
One of the 'Three Wonders of Jinci', the Zhou Cypress, was planted during the Zhou Dynasty and is still flourishing today, located just north of the Sacred Mother Hall.
The second of the 'Three Wonders of Jinci' is the sculptures in the Sacred Mother Hall (Maid Statues). There are over 40 painted sculptures of attendants in the east and west wings of the Sacred Mother Hall, most of which are original sculptures from the early Song Dynasty. The Sacred Mother, in the center of the hall behind a curtain, wears a phoenix crown and has a serene and kind expression, while the attendants each have their own roles, identities, and unique personalities.
The third of the 'Three Wonders of Jinci' is the Nanlao Spring, which emerges from a fractured rock layer and flows year-round. Above the spring is a pavilion, with a plaque inscribed with the words 'Nanlao Spring' by the Qing Dynasty scholar Fu Shan (Fu Qingzhu from 'Seven Swordsmen of Mount Heaven').
📝Tips:
As the earliest existing classical ancestral garden architecture group in China, Jinci is definitely worth a good look. It is recommended to do some homework before visiting. When we arrived, we also noticed that there were many guides offering their services.
【Opening Hours】April 1 - October 7: 8:30-18:00; October 8 - March 31: 9:00-17:00

If you go to Taiyuan, be sure to stop by Jinci
Among the three Jin regions, Jinyang is the most beautiful, and the beauty of Jinyang lies entirely in Jinci.
Jinci in Taiyuan, Shanxi, is the earliest existing royal sacrificial garden in China. It was built to commemorate Tang Shuyu, the founding marquis of the Jin State, and his mother, Yi Jiang. The Jinci Museum can be considered a hall-level museum of ancient Chinese architecture.
When you come to Jinci, don't rush to take pictures and leave. Walk slowly, observe the ancient Zhou cypress that has endured for three thousand years, feel the simplicity of the plaques whose colors have faded over a hundred years, and appreciate the imagination of Song Dynasty craftsmen from the earliest existing wooden dragon sculpture. As mentioned in 'A Millennium Garden: Jinci,' don't be a tourist, be an experiencer.

🌟Ticket: 80 yuan
🚘Transportation: About 30 minutes by taxi from the city center
As the saying goes: If you haven't been to Jinci, you haven't truly been to Taiyuan. The earliest royal sacrificial garden in China is the only architectural complex that integrates the essence of ancient buildings from the Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.

Yeah!!! Unexpectedly, the origin of 'acting cute' comes from the 'majestic' dragon in Taiyuan's impression
Yeah!!! Unexpectedly, the origin of 'acting cute' comes from the 'majestic' dragon in Taiyuan's impression, which is very good at 'acting cute'. Our internet celebrity raises its right dragon claw to form a scissors hand gesture
as if saying 'peace' to the tourists who come to visit.
The wooden carved dragon in front of the Shengmu Hall of Jinci Museum has seen a surge in fans.
Tourists are charmed by its cuteness, and everyone is eager to take a 'peace' photo with it.
The once-lost scissors hand gesture has reappeared in the world.
The Shengmu Hall was built in the ninth year of Taiping Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (984 AD), with a history of over 1,000 years.
It is the largest and oldest existing building in Jinci and a model of Song Dynasty architecture in China.
In front of the hall, there are eight wooden carved dragons with different postures, carved in the second year of Yuanyou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1087 AD).
It is also the only ancient wooden carved dragon preserved in China.
Among them, the second dragon facing north is our viral internet celebrity 'Peace Dragon'.
Most of its body leans forward, extending its right claw to make a 'peace' gesture, creating a stark contrast with its 'majestic' expression.
The dragon's winding body, which has endured the vicissitudes of a thousand years, is in the same frame as the tourists making the same 'peace' gesture beside it,
giving people an illusion of traveling through time and space...…

Taiyuan | A Summer Resort in Central China Hides a Magnificent Royal Garden
| A Summer Resort in Central China Hides a Magnificent Royal Garden. Among the scenic spots of the Three Jin regions, Jinyang is the most notable, and the beauty of Jinyang is all in Jinci.
Jinci, located in Jinci Town, Jinyuan District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, was originally named Jinyang Temple. It was built to commemorate Shuyu, the son of King Wu of the Western Zhou Dynasty, and is the earliest existing royal garden in China. It has been visited by numerous famous people throughout history, who have written poems and essays in praise of it.
The temple contains dozens of ancient buildings with traditional Chinese cultural characteristics. Among them, the Nanlao Spring, the Maid Statue, and the Holy Mother Statue are known as the "Three Wonders of Jinci." In March 1961, Jinci was announced by the State Council as one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units, and in 2011, it was announced as one of the first batch of national AAAA-level tourist attractions.
The Holy Mother Hall in Jinci houses 43 painted clay sculptures. Except for two small statues inside the niche that were added later, the rest are original Song Dynasty sculptures. The maid statues are vividly shaped and naturally posed, with every frown and smile, every gesture and movement, sparking endless imagination. In 1954, sculptor Liu Kaiqu praised this group of maid statues as "one of the greatest sculptures in the history of ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad" after visiting Jinci.
In front of the Shuimu Building, there is an octagonal pavilion with a pointed top, two zhangs high, protecting the spring water below. Named after the spring, it is called the Nanlao Spring Pavilion. The Nanlao Spring gushes day and night, never ceasing, as if it is a heavenly gift of an endless, inexhaustible flow, symbolizing eternal youth and immortality. Therefore, the ancient ancestors named the spring Nanlao Spring, inspired by the beautiful phrase "eternal youth" from the Book of Songs*Lu Song, implying that the spring water will remain youthful forever, never aging.
Strolling through Jinci in midsummer, seeing the towering ancient trees and appreciating the ancient buildings, it feels like traveling back in time. The golden afterglow of the sunset evokes a sense of the changing times, yet the treasures of Chinese civilization are well preserved here, which is truly fortunate!

——'Nanlao' Plaque. The 'Nanlao' plaque is located on the side of the Nanlao Spring Pavilion next to the Shengmudian in Jinci. It was inscribed by the calligrapher Fu Shan and is the most famous plaque in Jinci.
——'Shuijing Tai' Plaque. The 'Shuijing Tai' plaque hangs on the front of the Shuijing Tai, a building directly opposite the main entrance of Jinci, known as the Shuijing Tai, an ancient stage facing east and west. This plaque was inscribed by Yang Erniu, a Qing Dynasty Hanlin scholar and famous calligrapher.
——'Duiyue' Plaque. The 'Duiyue' plaque is located on the Duiyue Arch along the central axis of Jinci, reportedly inscribed by Gao Yingyuan, a calligrapher and juren (successful candidate in the imperial examinations) from Taiyuan County.

I rarely use the word 'astounding' to describe a museum
"After the coiled dragon awakens
Time has blown past the lacquered green for three thousand years, Jinci remains that same Jinci"
This trip to Shanxi, what astounded me the most was Jinci
Even the ancient trees that have lived for a millennium are considered youthful here, having withstood wars yet still standing tall
The stories here have exchanged for a heart that cannot calm for a long time, hoping to see you again in the next life~
There's a popular saying online: 'After returning from Shanxi, one suddenly loses interest in museums.' Initially, I felt nothing towards this saying, but after having visited Shanxi myself, I find this sentiment incredibly relatable
Indeed~ If one has witnessed the 'fine chaff' of Shanxi's architecture
How could one be interested in replicas behind glass? What's laid out before us are ancient buildings without any barriers
From the Zhou, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing, each era and space
They are not replicas, nor are there glass barriers
The shock that's laid before us, even after all these years of reading
It seems I cannot describe my feelings at this moment with any splendid words
