The elusive blue tears
🌟What exactly are blue tears?
They are a type of luminescent plankton in the sea that only emit a mysterious blue light at night.
⌚The best time to view them is from 8 PM to around midnight.
✨How to determine if there will be blue tears on a given day?
• The temperature needs to be between 21-30 degrees and it should be a clear day.
• When there is a south wind and the air humidity is higher.
• During high tide at night or early morning.
Only when all three conditions are met is there a chance to see them.
📌Safety note: Be careful of the rising tide at night
➡Don't just go to Pingtan Island for blue tears! You can also visit Bird and Flower Island, where there are 💃many fun activities, beautiful photo spots, fewer people, and it's cheaper~🌟Highly recommended rush~~
✨Bird and Flower Island
📍Located in the Shengsi archipelago of Zhoushan, Zhejiang
🌟Blue tears season: May-June
➡High frequency spots: South Pier, Buddha's Hand Rock, South Bay Beach, all have chances to see them

In the hot June, I set foot on such a small island, some strange and familiar. The sun shone and kissed every inch of my skin, and the skirt fluttered in the cool sea breeze. Flowers and birds, it touched the softest area of my heart, making my distant blue and white dreams at your fingertips.
I have always been obsessed with blue and white. I wanted to go to Santorini several times and I didn't get it in the end. In recent years, the island winds have prevailed, and domestic tourists are keen on Southeast Asian islands, but they ignore the beautiful islands around us.
A TV series "Ode to Joy 2" let me know that there is such a beautiful and romantic island in Zhoushan. From a distance, the countless high and low blue and white houses on the island will produce species. The illusion is like walking into the blue and white world of Santorini.
A few days of slow life on the island, walking through the streets in the afternoon, walking to the beach in the evening, passing the cool sea breeze, not only the seductive scenery that penetrates the soul, but also You want a cool summer.
KRISTINA.

Just returned from a trip to the Shengsi Archipelago, here are some pitfalls to avoid
Just came back from having a blast at the Shengsi Archipelago, and I truly think it's a hidden gem, but there are some small pitfalls to remind everyone about!👇
1️⃣🌟Donghai Fishing Village:
Free entry, open all day, perfect for experiencing the fisherman's lifestyle and enjoying a seafood feast! However, remember to avoid those scammy shops where the seafood is expensive and not tasty.😢 Also, the activities are a bit monotonous, hopefully, there will be more new things to do in the future!✨
2️⃣🌄Dabeishan:
Also free, with a strong Buddhist cultural atmosphere, and the view from the top is super pleasant! But, the winding mountain roads can be exhausting for those who are not physically fit!💦 Moreover, besides the scenery, there are few entertainment options on the mountain.🎢
3️⃣🌅Liuhe Chaoyang:
Tickets are 90, getting up early to watch the sunrise and the boats racing is definitely worth the price! But remember to protect yourself from the sun, the sun there is relentless!🌞 Also, there are quite a few stairs, so be prepared for your legs to get tired haha!🏃♀️
4️⃣🏖️Nanchangtu Beach:
Tickets are 45, the sand is soft and comforting, but some activities require extra money, and there are not many lifeguards, plus the little bugs in the sea love to bite, so be careful!🦟
5️⃣🏞️Huaniao Island:
Tickets are 85, the misty scenery is as beautiful as a fairyland, but getting to the island is not easy, with few ferry schedules and hard-to-get tickets, and finding food during peak season can be a problem.😢
6️⃣🏖️Gouqi Island:
Free entry, the sea view is stunning, but transportation is inconvenient, taxis are expensive and hard to find, and the service quality varies.🚕
7️⃣🍤Shengshan Island:
Also free, you can eat seafood to your heart's content, but transportation is an issue, with few and disorganized schedules, and ticket management needs improvement.🚢
8️⃣🏖️Jihu Beach:
Tickets are 60, there are sights to see in all seasons, but during peak season it's crowded like dumplings, and during the off-season, it's deserted, and the beach cleanliness needs attention.🏖️
📝Travel Tips:
The water in Sijiao Island is a bit yellow, while the water in Gouqi and Shengshan is blue; the island scenery is similar, just pick a few to watch the sunset, don't repeat the same spots!🌅
How about my guide, isn't it practical and down-to-earth? Remember to bring my tips next time you go to the Shengsi Archipelago!😉

This guide to Huaniao Island in Zhoushan during the summer, please keep it
Huaniao Island is very far
So far that going abroad is more convenient than coming here
And because of this
The isolated Huaniao Island appears particularly charming
⛰️Huaniao Island is very small
So small that I can circle the island several times in a day
🚢However, this small island
Is packed with beautiful island scenery
There are mountains, seas, blue skies, and white clouds
There are flowers, flying birds, and colorful houses
There are romantic lyrics, alleys leading to the sea
And a lighthouse calling fishermen home
🏝️Of course, there is also romantic love
During the Qixi Festival, I even encountered the Twelve Flower Gods on the island!
🚢How to get there:
It is recommended to take a direct boat from Shenjiawan Wharf. There are no public tickets available, but you can book a homestay in advance and ask the owner to help book direct boat tickets.
⌚️Departure: 11:45 Return: 14:20 (about 2 hours journey)
🎫Direct boat fare:
Upper cabin: 625 yuan round trip/person
Middle cabin: 585 yuan round trip/person
Lower cabin: 545 yuan round trip/person
The above prices include island admission and island shuttle bus fees
⛰️How to play:
DAY1⃣️: Arrive on the island——Huaniao Village (see blue and white houses)——Huaniao Lighthouse (watch the sunset)——Blue Tears (requires luck)
DAY2⃣️: Watch the sunrise at Wuzhishan——Flower Sea at the Star Observatory——Coffee shop near the village entrance——Nanwan Beach——Beiao Wharf
DAY3️⃣: Wake up naturally——Have seafood for lunch (recommended: Hai House, Yu She, Nanzhi Hai, etc.)——Return trip
Tips: Lighthouse sunset transportation: Take the last bus at 17:15 from the visitor center, return at 19:00.
⛵️Unmissable experiences:
✅️Huaniao Island Lighthouse
This lighthouse is a national key cultural relic protection unit. National protection enthusiasts should not miss it. Of course, the more distinctive feature is the sunrise or sunset here. Standing under the lighthouse, watching the sunset glow, and listening to the sea breeze is perfect.
✅️Beiao Wharf
Many colorful fishing boats are docked here, fulfilling your longing for an island fishing village.
✅️Foshou Rock
An excellent place to watch the sunrise on Huaniao Island. The whole rock is shaped like five fingers, which is also very distinctive.
✅️Slow Life Street
This is the main street of Huaniao Island, gathering many shops, including milk tea and coffee shops, cultural and creative stores, and many places to eat seafood.
✅️Nan'ao Beach
You can play in the water here, which is very suitable for children. If you are lucky, you might even encounter a music festival at night.
There is a small island in the East China Sea called Huaniao Island. The island is small but has great romance.

Zhoushan, the Dreamland of the Sea | Ultimate Travel Guide
| Ultimate Travel Guide. The trip to Zhoushan is simply perfect💯! The sea here has reached a new level of beauty, every scenery looks like it came out of a painting, and every casual shot is like a blockbuster. When posted on social media, friends thought I was in Europe🥹
🌈Must-Visit Attractions
1. Zhujiajian
- Xiao Wushitang Village: A quaint and tranquil fishing village, the unique black stones by the sea give it a distinctive coastal charm.
- Poly Zizai Sea (choose one between this and Shaojibay): Here, you can fully enjoy a leisurely seaside vacation and admire the stunning sea view, and the best part is, it's free to play!
2. Huadao Island (a treasure more beautiful than Dongji Island)
Tested and proven, this small island is a paradise for photography enthusiasts, every casual shot is extremely beautiful📷. Especially during the summer vacation, the chance of encountering the "Blue Tears" is very high, adding a touch of dreamy color to your trip.
Ticket: 85 RMB
3. Putuo Mountain (a must-visit place)
Putuo Mountain has always been famous, and it is said that praying for career and academic success here is very effective🔮. As a college student, this is very attractive to me.
I visited the three major temples and the Good Fortune Cave, as well as the Guanyin Treasure Hall. It is said that praying for children is very effective here (friends in need can give it a try).
Ticket + round-trip ferry ticket: 220 RMB
Cable car: 40 RMB (it is recommended to walk down the mountain to show sincerity~)
🏨Accommodation Recommendations
This trip, considering I was traveling with my younger sister and taking into account children's facilities and hotel environment, the accommodation budget was slightly higher, but fortunately, my mom generously sponsored it😎
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, where you can enjoy a sea view twin room for only 600 RMB, which is a bargain at 200 RMB per person. You can enjoy the sunrise by the sea right from your bed🌅, easily achieving "painless early rising" and starting a beautiful day!
🚢Transportation Guide
The cost of ferry tickets to and from Zhoushan is relatively high and the price is not fixed (one way 100 - 150 RMB). It is recommended to compare prices before purchasing tickets to choose the most cost-effective travel plan.

Budget Travel Diary 029——Zhoushan's Hidden Gem, the Romantic Island of 'Hua Niao Island'
Hello, everyone, I am Xiao Qiu, sharing today (Hua Niao Island)
Hua Niao Island is located at the northernmost end of the Shengsi archipelago in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, named for its shape resembling a seagull ready to take flight. The island is also known as 'Fog Island' due to the year-round mist. It is covered with flowers and lush forests, and in spring, the blooming flowers create a romantic and fragrant atmosphere. It is an ideal place for hiking, camping, and fishing. It was also a filming location for the TV series 'Ode to Joy'.
🌟Island Tour Routes:
✅Matou Line:
Following this route, you will encounter the vast blue sea, winding roads, and flowers blooming along the way. Every scene is like a movie-level shooting location. After getting off the boat and settling in, the first stop is highly recommended here, and it will not disappoint!
✅Wuzhishan (Buddha's Hand Stone):
On the north side of the island, there is a uniquely shaped rock, resembling a giant hand, known as Buddha's Hand Stone. The surrounding environment is also very suitable for taking photos and checking in, and the blooming flowers add more color to your trip.
✅Beiao Wharf:
Beiao Wharf has recently added a Zhejiang Province outdoor marriage registration and certification base, along with a series of romantic check-in installations. Moving the marriage registration office to such a romantic place not only allows for beautiful travel photos but also enables couples to receive their marriage certificates on the spot, refreshing the experience of obtaining a marriage license!
✅Fluorescent Sea:
Also known as 'Blue Tears', the best time to view the fluorescent sea is from May to August each year. On clear summer nights, after dusk, near Nanwan and Buddha's Hand Stone, you have the chance to witness these magical blue tears. Remember, choose a night without the moon, so the probability of seeing the blue tears will be higher!
✅Slow Life District:
On this island, houses in blue and white are scattered around, as if you are in a dreamy world. This is not Santorini, but the beautiful Hua Niao Island. In the evening, when the lights are lit, the island under the bluesy night sky and the fishing lights intertwine into a tranquil painting.
✅Hua Niao Lighthouse:
The largest lighthouse in the Far East is recommended to reach the top by sightseeing car around 5 pm or by walking, which takes about 1 hour. But when you stand here, enjoying a romantic sea sunset, all the waiting becomes worthwhile.

③There are many mosquitoes on the island in summer, so it is advisable to bring insect repellent spray.
④Supplies on the island are scarce and prices are high, if you want to eat seafood you can go to the market to buy seafood and have it processed for a fee of 50 yuan per serving.

Where to Go on the Weekend | The end of the road is the sea, yes, Hua Niao Island!
♥️ Swear by the century-old lighthouse, come to the romantic island of Hua Niao Island ♥️
The previous two articles have already introduced
👉How to get to Hua Niao Island from Shanghai
👉The marine recreation projects on Hua Niao Island
————————————————————————
This article will introduce 👇
‼️ Three top-level routes for walking with kids on Hua Niao Island:
1⃣️ Lighthouse Route
➡️ If you buy a round-trip speedboat ticket package, it includes 'To the Lighthouse' daytime round-trip once, and 'To the Lighthouse' sunset round-trip once
➡️ You can also buy a single ticket, with one-way and round-trip options, you can choose to take a car to the lighthouse and walk back to the homestay (if you have the stamina)
➡️ It is recommended to take a round-trip with kids, as the journey is quite winding and distant, with about 5 kilometers of road.
🎟️ Ticket: 40 yuan/round-trip.
The lighthouse on Hua Niao Island is known as the 'First Lighthouse of the Far East', and it is really beautiful, where you can capture the most beautiful shots.
At sunset, go to the lighthouse, take pictures of the lighthouse, and then walk behind the lighthouse to wait for the sunset. When you watch the afterglow of the sun dye the entire sky, and the moment the sun slowly sets below the sea level, it feels like time has stopped for this romance.
2⃣️ Buddha's Hand Stone
Buddha's Hand Stone is an excellent spot for watching the sunrise, within walking distance. Walking on the road to Buddha's Hand Stone during the day, you feel like the end of the road is the sea, and it's not at all inferior to the small islands in the south. Walking with kids while taking photos is romantically upgraded.
3⃣️ South Pier
This is the necessary route to and from the pier. The coastal road next to the pier is particularly beautiful, with red and white colors, where you can drag your luggage and take photos while walking. The winding path, coupled with the cuteness of the kids, maximizes the atmosphere.
BRYNLEE BARKER
Zhejiang also has azure seas, and on this island, you can even witness the blue tears
Zhejiang Province is a coastal region, but the majority of the seas near the coastline are turbid. However, if you travel away from the coastline towards the islands deep in the sea, you can also see the incredibly azure ocean.
At the easternmost end of the Zhoushan Archipelago, there are several islands scattered about, among which Hua'niao Island has become very popular in the past two years. To get to Hua'niao Island, you can depart from docks in both Shanghai and Zhoushan. During the peak season, convenient bus and ferry services are also available from Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Suzhou.
Hua'niao Island is not very large, and generally, 2-3 days are enough to enjoy it.
1️⃣ Blue and White Houses
All the buildings on Hua'niao Island are painted in blue and white, resembling the sea and the blue sky with white clouds. The blue and white houses also make the entire island look very refreshing, and from a drone's perspective, Hua'niao Island is even more breathtaking.
2️⃣ The Instagram-famous Highway
A road near the dock extends from the slope down to the sea and is very beautiful. It's particularly picturesque to take photos near the entrance of the village cafe.
3️⃣ Hua'niao Lighthouse
A great place to watch the sunset, you need to take a sightseeing bus to get there, which is about a 15-minute ride. You can board the bus near the entrance of the tourist center.
4️⃣ Buddha's Hand Rock
This is a good place to watch the sunrise, and nearby there is also an art center and the Zhi'ai Bookroom. Standing on the edge of the cliff, you can listen to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.
Every year, the peak period for Hua'niao Island's blue tears is from May to June. If you're lucky, you can witness the romantic bioluminescent sea.
MARSHALL POTTER
If you can't make it to Santorini, why not visit the Flower and Bird Island instead!
As soon as I set foot on this island, I was stunned by the beauty before me. It's no wonder it has been rated by National Geographic as the most romantic island!
Transportation tips:
🚗 If you choose to drive, you can go directly to Shenjiawan Pier (there is a parking lot there)
🚢 It is recommended to book direct ferry tickets in advance, from Shenjiawan directly to Flower and Bird Island (transferring is both troublesome and time-consuming)
🎫 Ticket: An admission ticket is required to enter the island, costing 85 yuan per person
🌈 Travel tips:
🌟 Flower and Bird Island Coastal Road:
This winding coastal road is flanked by mountains on one side and the sea on the other, with flowers planted on the mountain side, making it super photogenic (if you have the stamina, you can walk and take pictures on your way to the hotel after disembarking)
🌟 The White House:
Known as China's 'Santororini', this place offers a combination of dining, accommodation, and entertainment. Stroll around and take plenty of photos. Don't miss the milk tea and coffee shop at the entrance of the village, buy a cup and use it as a prop while you drink, creating a perfect atmosphere
🌟 Nanao Beach:
This is the largest beach on Flower and Bird Island. You can take a walk on the beach in the afternoon, but be careful as it is prone to high tides in the morning and evening. If you're lucky, you might even see the glowing sea.
🌟 The Lighthouse:
This is the best spot to watch the sunset. The surrounding coastal road is also very beautiful. If you like hiking, you can walk there, though it's a bit far. If you're not into hiking, you can take an electric car from the entrance of the village, which costs 50 yuan for a round trip, and it's best to go around 4 pm.
🌟 Buddha's Hand Stone:
This is the best spot to watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, the weather was bad when I visited, so I didn't see the sunrise, but there are white houses, colorful stone piers, lots of cacti, and even sheep on the small hillside, making it super picturesque for photos~
🏡 Accommodation: There are many homestays on the island, and it's best to choose one where you can see the sea.

1️⃣ Under the dazzling stars, the 'Far East's Largest Lighthouse'—Hua Niao Lighthouse, has withstood a century of vicissitudes and still stands on the coastline, offering photographers a perfect angle to capture stunning sunset scenes. Strolling along the seaside road, every frame is a story.
2️⃣ The 'Buddha's Hand Stone' waiting for dawn to break—also known as 'Five-Finger Stone', a sunrise viewing spot accessible by foot. Sitting on the edge of the cliff, witnessing the sunrise slowly ascend from the sea level, at that moment, the beauty of the world is right before your eyes.
3️⃣ The poetic 'Dock Road'—the winding road leading to the village after disembarking, flanked by towering mountains and the vast sea on either side, forms a natural painting with a strong visual impact.
4️⃣ The artistic 'Love Book House'—though not filled with books, its clean windows and framed composition exude artistic charm, making every photo facing the sea deeply meaningful.
5️⃣ The 'White House Cluster' reminiscent of Santorini—white buildings across the island seem like a city of angels fallen to earth, reflecting off the azure waters, sketching out a heavenly realm.
6️⃣ The tranquil and beautiful 'Nandai Beach'—although not large, it is clean and pleasant, especially when walking through the waves on summer nights, occasionally encountering the bioluminescent sea spectacle from May to September, which is as enchanting as a dream.
❗️The beauty of Hua Niao Island is indeed captivating, however, the complexity of the return journey, the relatively high cost of food and accommodation, and the tight schedule of the one-day tour, make this trip slightly regrettable. Therefore, it is recommended to include Hua Niao Island in a more extensive itinerary of the Shengsi archipelago or a multi-island combination, allowing this journey to not only seek out beautiful scenery but also to appreciate the unique charm of the East China Sea islands, achieving a more fulfilling soul-searching journey.

ZOEY WARD
Blue sea and blue sky, poetic flowers and birds
Wanting to avoid the crowd during the National Day holiday, and also allowing the child to have enough time to complete learning tasks, I chose a 3-day and 2-night trip to Flower and Bird Island. This choice was really wise.
Before departure, I booked a homestay, and only after booking the homestay did I learn that direct boats are not publicly sold, only homestays can buy them. Then I entrusted the boss to book the tickets, which greatly shortened the time on the road.
Itinerary:
★Depart from Pudong at 8 am on 10.1, drive for 1 hour to Shenjiawan Wharf, and take the 10.50 direct cruise. It takes about 2 hours to reach the destination. Check in to the homestay, have lunch at the homestay, and then go to watch the sunset. After watching, return to the homestay for dinner, stroll around the night market, and have drinks. Young friends can also go to the bar to taste fine wines.
★Get up at 4.30 in the morning on 10.2 to watch the sunrise, return to the homestay for breakfast, and then take a nap. After a good sleep, get up leisurely, have lunch at the homestay. Then dress up beautifully and go to the beach to play in the waves and on the island. In the evening, buy some seafood on the island and return to the homestay for dinner.
★After breakfast on 10.3, take a leisurely boat back.
Scenery:
The 3 major beauties on the island, sunrise, sunset, and blue tears. Whether it is sunrise or sunset, it is impossible to present its beauty with words and photos, of course, I also took a lot of beautiful photos I like. Blue tears are generally not visible in October, and they are more common from March to September. Every place on the island is very photogenic, and it is beautiful to take pictures casually. I personally think that colorful skirts are indispensable.
Food and Shopping:
The island is small, built along the coast, and there is not too much commercialization. There are two restaurants on the island, two beverage shops, and a bar. Small shops mainly sell some fish slices, the taste is very fresh, and the price is acceptable.
Cost:
Boat ticket 2 adults 1 child 1495
Accommodation 2 nights 1400
Meals 2 adults and 1 child 870
Other small items about 500
Total about 5000
A very perfect trip
Tips, in windy weather, be sure to use motion sickness patches or motion sickness medicine, and prepare a thin jacket for morning and evening wear.
