Hanoi Train Street
My visit to 'Hanoi Train Street' was a unique and thrilling experience. Located in the heart of Hanoi, this street is famous for the trains that regularly pass through, with houses and cafes closely lining both sides of the railway. While waiting for the train, I enjoyed sitting in one of the cafes that served traditional Vietnamese coffee. The atmosphere was vibrant, with locals and tourists gathering to watch the train slowly pass through the middle of the street. The experience was astonishing, and the feeling of the train passing by added a sense of adventure and suspense. It is a place unlike any other in Hanoi, combining local culture with excitement.

Hanoi train night market is only a short ride away from the old Quarter and it's a must visit experience. The train passes up real close while you sip your drink.
Best to check the train timings before getting there as some intervals are quite long. There will be touts asking you to sit at their shop before you can enter but do ignore them!
Lastly the authorities are deciding on whether to close this place so hurry!

Train Street at Hanoi 🚂
Wandering through Hanoi’s iconic Train Street, I stopped at the charming Railway Station Cafe, a cozy spot tucked along the tracks.
Amid the unique buzz of passing trains and the hum of life, I savored a refreshing ice peach tea. 😋
Its sweet, tangy flavor was the perfect antidote to the warm, lively afternoon.
The atmosphere was magical, blending the charm of Vietnam’s traditions with the vibrant energy of the city.
Train Street truly captures the heart of Hanoi, and this moment, sipping tea and soaking it all in, was a memory worth treasuring. A perfect blend of flavors and culture.

Thrills on the Tracks
Hanoi's Old Train Street is one of the most unique and thrilling experiences the city has to offer. The narrow street, where a railway track cuts through the middle of a residential neighborhood, has become a tourist magnet due to its unusual setting and the thrilling experience of watching trains pass just inches from buildings, cafés, and pedestrians.
### What to Expect
- **Atmosphere:** The street is lined with quaint houses, small cafés, and shops that have popped up in recent years to cater to the influx of tourists. Locals live just inches from the tracks, and you can witness their daily life—drying clothes, cooking, or sitting outside as tourists snap photos.
- **The Train Experience:** The highlight of the visit is witnessing the train rumble through the narrow street. Trains pass by several times a day, and locals and tourists alike scramble to safety just moments before. The experience is exhilarating, especially for first-timers, and gives you a real sense of the close-knit urban environment of Hanoi.
- **Cafés:** Many small cafés along the street offer a prime spot for viewing the train. You can enjoy a coffee or local beer while waiting for the train to arrive. The café owners often give warnings about the train schedule, so you'll have plenty of time to get your camera ready.
### Things to Keep in Mind
- **Train Schedule:** Trains don’t pass through frequently, so it’s best to check the schedule ahead of time. Typically, they run a few times a day, and the timings can vary, so ask a local or a café owner for updates.
- **Safety:** Despite its charm, the Old Train Street can be dangerous. With trains passing at close range, it's important to listen to locals and follow their advice on when to move out of the way.
- **Tourist Regulations:** The Vietnamese government has at times restricted access to the street due to safety concerns and overcrowding. As of recent years, tourists may need to access the area through specific entry points controlled by cafés. Be aware of these restrictions, and respect the rules in place.
### Final Thoughts
Hanoi's Old Train Street is a fascinating blend of old-world charm and modern tourism. It's an Instagram-worthy spot that offers a genuine thrill and insight into local life. While the experience is unique, it also requires caution and respect for the residents whose daily lives are intertwined with the presence of the railway.
The combination of the bustling street, the anticipation of the train, and the interactions with friendly locals make it a memorable part of any trip to Hanoi.#vietnam #hanoi
