The Grand Place or Grote Markt is Brussels
#bucketlistreboot
This place is amazing! The Grand Place or Grote Markt is Brussels’ central square. Once there, you are surrounded by Baroque guildhalls of the former Guilds of Brussels, the Town Hall, and the neo-Gothic Broodhuis (Bread House) where the Museum of the City of Brussels is located There are lots of (perhaps overpriced) cafes and restaurants but nonetheless offering excellent views of the square. Take a moment an enjoy the vibes.
The Grand Place is probably the most important tourist destination in Brussels and a memorable landmark of the city. Every two years the Grand Place is covered with a flower carpet of begonias. It looks beautiful on the photos (also shown in Little-Europe), but we didn’t time our trip well enough to see it. Perhaps another reason to return to this beautiful capital city.

People will push the sand from the beach in the square and feel the beach sports. Stimulation; there is also the "Grand Square Flower Carpet Festival" every two years in August, known as the world's largest man-made "flower carpet"! These beautiful buildings around the square are famous buildings of the 17th-century professional guild meeting place, the Duke's official residence, the stone building of the medieval era, and the palace of Louis XIV! The medieval buildings under the color are extraordinarily grand than the daytime! Recommend accommodation around the Grand Place, you can walk at night, easy to participate in a variety of entertainment activities!

Built in the 12th century, Brussels Grand Place is one of the "most beautiful squares in Europe" and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The surrounding Gothic buildings resemble a burning flame, and the square floor is paved with granite. The minimalist style and bright pictures show the city's cultural identity. The buildings in the Ring Square are mostly Gothic, Renaissance, Louis XIV and other architectural forms built in the Middle Ages. Their architectural styles are different, making people feel like they are in the Middle Ages. (Photos by SONY α7M3).

As the capital of Belgium and the entire European Union, Brussels has not many places of interest for tourists to visit, but there is a place for people who have never been to look forward to it. Those who have gone do not want to leave, that is, Brussels in the city center. square.
Budapest Grand Place is located in the heart of the Belgian Kingdom in the heart of Brussels. It was built in the 12th century and was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1998. French writer Victor Hugo once praised it as "the world's most Beautiful square". The

Belgium
The Grand Place, often referred to as the most beautiful square in the world, features the Gothic-style Town Hall with its golden walls towering above all other buildings. Opposite it stands the majestic King's House, symbolizing power. Surrounding them are the guild houses, where influential merchants in medieval Europe formed guilds and controlled the cities. In the Grand Place, buildings used as guild houses for various professions such as knife makers, barrel makers, luxury furniture makers, and bakers are preserved.
Similarly, in Bruges, which also thrived through trade, there is the Market Square, consisting of the Town Hall and guild houses. Both squares share the same structure. The sight of the golden majestic towers symbolizes the inescapable class society, and one can easily imagine influential merchants opening their shops around them.
Standing in such places, one can feel how social classes clearly divided living areas within the city. In front of the tall, ornately decorated buildings that we, as tourists, find beautiful, merchants sold large carpets and furniture obtained through trade. In the medieval era, merchants began to hold political power, replacing the upper nobility. For the nobility, merchants, who engaged in trade considered impure in Catholic society, might have been seen as lowly. However, it was undoubtedly the power of merchants that shaped medieval European cities. This is what Weber referred to as the "community of citizens," a world created by urban citizens with a common social status.

Brussels: The Heart of Europe
#100waysoftravel #awesomepic #belgium #brussels
Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the de facto capital of the European Union, is a city rich in history, culture, and gastronomy. Its origins trace back to the 10th century when it was established as a small fortress along the Senne River. Over the centuries, Brussels flourished as a center of trade and commerce, attracting merchants, artists, and thinkers. The city’s strategic location between France and the Netherlands made it a vital hub, leading to its designation as the capital of the Burgundian Netherlands in the 15th century. This period saw the construction of many iconic structures, including the magnificent Grand Place, which remains the heart of the city.
The architectural diversity of Brussels is a testament to its historical influences. The Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is surrounded by opulent guildhalls adorned with gilded statues and intricate carvings. Just a short walk away, visitors can admire the stunning Gothic architecture of the Town Hall, with its imposing tower reaching 96 meters. Another must-visit landmark is the Atomium, built for the 1958 World Expo, which represents an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times and offers panoramic views of the city. Don’t miss the Royal Palace, the official palace of the King and Queen of the Belgians, which showcases exquisite architecture and lush gardens.
Brussels experiences a mild and pleasant climate during the summer months, making it an ideal time for exploration. From June to August, temperatures typically range from 18°C to 25°C (64°F to 77°F), with longer daylight hours perfect for outdoor activities. The city comes alive with various festivals, street performances, and open-air markets. Notable events include the Brussels Summer Festival and the vibrant Flower Carpet event in August, where the Grand Place is adorned with a stunning array of colorful flowers.
Culinary experiences in Brussels are a highlight for many visitors, particularly the famous moules-frites (mussels and fries). This beloved dish can be enjoyed in numerous restaurants throughout the city, often served with a variety of sauces or simply with garlic and parsley. Pairing mussels with one of Belgium’s renowned beers elevates the dining experience. Belgian beer culture is rich and diverse, boasting over 1,500 varieties, including Trappist ales, lambics, and witbiers. Popular choices include the fruity Kriek and the rich, dark Chimay beers, often served in specially designed glasses.
Transportation from Amsterdam to Brussels is both efficient and convenient, with several options available. The Thalys high-speed train is the most popular choice, covering the distance of approximately 173 kilometers in about 1 hour and 50 minutes. Trains run frequently throughout the day, providing a comfortable ride with amenities such as Wi-Fi and food services.
