Shanghai One-Day Classic Route
Shanghai Citywalk | One-Day Classic Route
Shanghai is arguably the pinnacle of citywalks in China. No matter how many times you visit Shanghai, you'll always be keen to explore the city's streets and alleys to discover its wonderful charm. Here, we present a super practical citywalk guide for those planning to visit Shanghai. Come and copy your homework!
✅Route: Start from the Shanghai Postal Museum, pass by the Sihang Warehouse, Waibaidu Bridge, Suzhou River, Zhapu Road Bridge, the former New Tiantang Church, the intersection of Jiulong Road and Changzhi Road, and finally arrive at the Pudong Art Museum.
⭕️The whole journey is recommended to be completed by walking (about 3-4 kilometers), shared bicycles, and subways. Walking and taking photos will take about 6 hours.
✅Highlights along the way: Enjoy the old Shanghai houses, special theme museums, European churches, and autumn afternoon tea, and enjoy the Bund lights and the style of the Huangpu River.
✅Attraction check-in:
1⃣️Station: Shanghai Postal Museum. The back door of the museum is a treasure trove of crowds, and the door frame naturally becomes the frame of the Shanghai landmark check-in.
2⃣️Station: Sihang Warehouse. This excellent building with a history of 100 years has a unique neoclassical style. The coffee bar on the top floor of the building can take pictures of the diagonal building. If you want to experience the petty bourgeoisie in Shanghai, you might as well order a cup of coffee and spend an afternoon here.
3⃣️Station: Waibaidu Bridge and Zhapu Road Bridge. These two representative bridges on the Suzhou River can take photos of the four-piece set of Lujiazui. Sitting lazily by the river and enjoying afternoon tea is the correct way to open Shanghai Citywalk.
4⃣️Station: The former New Tiantang Church. As a must-see Roman-style church in the Bund, it is full of exoticism from the opposite side of the road. The archway opposite the church can take pictures of the European street walking scene.
5⃣️Station: Intersection of Jiulong Road and Changzhi Road. Small and popular treasure trove, can perfectly avoid 99% of tourists. The corridor by the river can take a group photo with the landmark building in Lujiazui.
6⃣️Station: Pudong Art Museum. Walk along the riverside trail, wait for a sunset on the Bund, blow the evening breeze of the Huangpu River, wait for the Bund lights at 19:00, and it is extremely romantic.

Shanghai’s North Bund is so beautiful that it’s worth visiting 10,000 times.
❤️I thought the Bund was already beautiful🖼️I didn’t expect the North Bund to be even more worthwhile!
Recently, the 💐rolan flowers along the riverside trail are in full bloom. The purple, white and pink flowers are interspersed with each other, making people feel so comfortable!
🌿🌿There are only four words "spring and scenery" in my head, and the beautiful flowers look even more gentle when paired with the three-piece set on the shore!
It’s really nice to have a relaxing 🚶🏻♂️citywalk, or it’s also very comfortable to sit and relax while blowing the air.
🌇When sunset has just set, the atmosphere is even more stunning, and the lights on the other side start to light up. Taking pictures at this time is very beautiful!

Shanghai | There are quite a few people on the Huangpu Riverside Greenway in late autumn.
🚗 Huangpu Riverside Greenway, from Waibaidu Bridge in the north to Rihui Port Bridge in the south
The total length is 8.3 kilometers, and it takes about 50 minutes to ride. The Huangpu Riverside Greenway (Nanyuan Section) is adjacent to Xiaonan Lake in Nanyuan, accompanied by the lake water, surrounded by several small flower beds, and successfully connects the east and west of Nanyuan Riverside Greenway.
🚗 The Huangpu Riverside Citizen Fitness Trail (Greenway) starts from Nanpu Bridge and ends at Lupu Bridge, with a total length of 3,000 meters. The walking path, running path, and cycling path, together with the green belt along the riverside and seven theme parks, form the Huangpu Riverside public space of "one belt, three paths, and seven parks." Since its completion in 2017, the Huangpu Riverside Fitness Trail (Greenway) has become a must-see place for the Shanghai Marathon.
🚗 Along the trail, there are public service facilities such as toilets, free drinking water points, rest seats, signposts, and sunshade facilities. The beautiful environment and meticulous service of the Huangpu Riverside Fitness Trail (Greenway) have attracted more and more runners, and it has become a new holy place for road running.

Enjoy the view of The Bund from Waibaidu Bridge
Waibaidu Bridge is the first all-steel bridge in China, designed in a Western style and built in 1856. It is located at the mouth of the Suzhou River, near its confluence with the Huangpu River, adjacent to The Bund in the heart of Shanghai. This bridge connects the Huangpu and Hongkou districts.
Waibaidu Bridge is one of the symbols of Shanghai. The Shanghai Municipal Government has designated this bridge as an example of architectural heritage and one of Shanghai's prominent structures.
Travel: Walk from the front of The Bund, the bridge is located on the north side of The Bund. Bus
Recommended time: Evening (You can capture views of The Bund both during the day and when the lights are on.)

The Shanghai Trio is super easy to shoot on the Waibaidu Bridge!
It feels like there are relatively fewer people here, and the flower spots are all on the other side of the Waibaidu Bridge, where you can take pictures of the Waibaidu Bridge and the Shanghai Trio in the same frame! It's a very nice spot, and if you squat down in the yellow flowers next to it and put your camera or phone down a bit, you can get a shot of the flowers and the trio overlapping, and the shooting time is around 4:30 pm, when the sunset is shining on the buildings, you can get a golden effect, and if it's summer, I suggest you shoot around 5:30 pm.

Citywalk Waibaidu Bridge The Bund
Waibaidu Bridge is China's first all-steel structure riveted bridge and one of the iconic buildings in Shanghai. Since childhood, I have known the story of Waibaidu Bridge. In 1856, it was a wooden bridge built by the British, where foreigners could cross for free, but Chinese people had to pay, which was discriminatory. In 1872, the then government built a new wooden bridge to replace the original one, and crossing the bridge was free, hence the name Waibaidu Bridge, meaning 'no toll' in Shanghai dialect. In the early 19th century, it was rebuilt into a steel bridge with a foundation of reinforced concrete piles, becoming the busiest passage for cross-river traffic and witnessing the history of economic development. In the early 20th century, Waibaidu Bridge was entirely dismantled, relocated, and repaired, then moved back to its original position, looking brand new. There are many historically significant buildings and attractions near Waibaidu Bridge, leaving unforgettable memories for the people of Shanghai and making it a famous landmark of the Bund.

Check-in at the 'Movie Star' Building: Shanghai Waibaidu Bridge
Waibaidu Bridge is definitely the 'movie star' among Shanghai's old buildings. In many film and television works set in old Shanghai during the Republic of China period, you can almost always see the silhouette of Waibaidu Bridge.
Waibaidu Bridge is located near the mouth of the Suzhou River where it joins the Huangpu River. It is China's first all-steel structure riveted bridge and the only remaining unequal height truss structure bridge.
【Traffic Information】
Nearby subway stations to Waibaidu Bridge include Tiantong Road Station, Zhongxing Road Station, and Hailun Road Station.
Tiantong Road Station is about 400 meters from Waibaidu Bridge and is the closest subway station. This station allows transfers to Metro Line 12 and Line 10 branch.
Zhongxing Road Station is located on Zhiyuan Road, about 2 kilometers from Waibaidu Bridge, and allows transfers to Metro Line 4, Line 3, Line 8, and other lines.

Waibaidu Bridge... Shanghai.
About 150 years ago, there was no bridge over Suzhou Creek, so the only way to cross was by ferry. Due to the agreements of the foreign concessions on both sides, the ferry could not handle the increasing number of passengers. Therefore, in 1856, a British businessman named Wills directed the construction of a large wooden bridge across the river, known as Wills Bridge. People called it Waibaidu because the bridge was located at the Outside Ferry. The Chinese had to pay to cross the bridge, which led to tremendous protests. To calm the public, a wooden bridge named Garden Bridge was built to the west and was provided free of charge. The old bridge was later demolished. In 1908, a steel bridge was constructed to replace the wooden bridge to allow trams to cross the river.

Discover a corner of Shanghai's Bund
Strolling along Waibaidu Bridge and Yuanmingyuan Road 🚶, soaking up the sun, feeling the buzz, unexpectedly meeting Zheng Kai and Cook also wandering the Bund, with impressive English, encountering pretty girls posing for photos, and stumbling upon the new Xiaomi car (presumably being advertised).
This is the most colorful Bund of the four seasons, and also the most beautiful time, the coffee by the Suzhou River is ready to be enjoyed.
Tips:
The tulips 🌷 at Waibaidu Bridge are fewer than in the past two years, and the poppies have disappeared, but the old Shanghai charm is still strong.
Yuanmingyuan Road offers the best view for photographing the Oriental Pearl Tower 💎, a favorite location for wedding dresses and advertisements.
Nearby is the workplace of Miss Wang from the novel 'Blossoms'.

Shanghai's Most Endearing Street—Huangpu Road
🌻Huangpu Road, commencing from the western Waibaidu Bridge and extending eastward to Qingpu Road, runs parallel to the Huangpu River. Owing to its prime geographical location, from 1852 onwards, consulates from Germany, the United States, Japan, Russia, Denmark, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire all established their presence on this road. The present-day No. 20 Huangpu Road (Image 7️⃣), constructed in 1916, has continuously served as the Russian Consulate. The entire consulate building, designed by a German architect, is a harmonious blend of Baroque and German Renaissance styles and elements. The hexagonal pavilion at the top offers a panoramic view of the Huangpu River and overlooks the Huangpu Road area, making it a classic masterpiece among the consulates in Shanghai at the time.
🌻Opposite the consulate is the No. 15 Huangpu Road, the Richard's Hotel (Image 5️⃣6️⃣), the earliest Western-style hotel in Shanghai, built in 1846 and expanded in 1907 into the current building with a strong British Neoclassical style. Renamed as the Pujiang Hotel in 1959, it remained in operation until 2017. In 2018, it was converted into the "China Securities Museum", which is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30-16:00, allowing visitors to admire the exquisite interior decorations.
🌻No. 106 Huangpu Road comprises two adjacent buildings. The red one is known as the "Red House" (Image 4️⃣), and the one in front is called the "Grey House" (Image 3️⃣). The "Grey House", built in 1941, is of early modernist style, featuring a simple design with the highlight being the six grooved wall columns that run through to the fourth floor. In 1948, the building was named the "United Nations Building", housing approximately ten United Nations agencies in Shanghai. One of their significant tasks at the time was to aid in post-war recovery. The "Red House", designed by Japanese architect Isamu Hirano and completed in 1911, is of classical style with exquisite stone carvings on the facade. From 1911 to 1945, it served as the Japanese Consulate in Shanghai.
🌻At the end of Huangpu Road near Qingpu Road, close to the Hongkou Port, the area has been newly renovated and is now an excellent spot for sightseeing and relaxation (Images 8️⃣9️⃣🔟).

✅ Dominating the Shanghai Bund, the renowned 'Waibaidu Bridge' is the first all-steel riveted bridge in Chinese history, and also one of the few existing unequal height truss structure bridges.
✅ The Waibaidu Bridge was originally called 'Wills Bridge' and was built in 1856.
✅ The Waibaidu Bridge is located near the mouth of the Suzhou River into the Huangpu River, connecting Huangpu District and Hongkou District.
✅ It is not only a symbol of the city, but also carries important traffic functions. Shanghai's number one internet-famous bridge: Waibaidu Bridge
There is a saying: If you haven't been to the Bund, it's as if you haven't been to Shanghai, and if you haven't walked across the Waibaidu Bridge, it's as if you haven't been to the Bund.
Shanghai's number one internet-famous bridge, 'Waibaidu Bridge', is China's first all-steel riveted bridge and the only remaining unequal height truss structure bridge, and it is also an excellent historical preservation building in Shanghai.
In 1856, the first generation of Waibaidu Bridge was built, named 'Wills Bridge'. In 1876, the second generation of Waibaidu Bridge was built, named 'Park Bridge'. In 1907, the Waibaidu Bridge was built and has been in use ever since.
The Waibaidu Bridge starts from South Suzhou Road in the south and ends at North Suzhou Road in the north. On one end, it is the warm and affectionate market life of Hongkou, and on the other end, it is the World Architecture Expo on the Bund. This is an irreplaceable city landmark.

Show off a sunrise! The sunrise in Shanghai the day before the temperature dropped. It's very rare that there's no fog, it's very clear.

Waibaidu Bridge, built in 1908, rebuilt "renovation as old" in 2008 to extend the life of 50 years, is China's first all-steel bridge. Across the Suzhou River and connected to the Huangpu River, the surrounding Pujiang Hotel, Shanghai Tower, and the British Consulate in Shanghai are all excellent historical buildings. The Waibaidu Bridge is also an excellent view point. You can see the Bund buildings and the Oriental Pearl on the other side. To the domineering historical buildings such as the Shanghai Postal Museum.
Waibaidu Bridge is a landmark building in Shanghai. The bridge is more than 50 meters long and more than 18 meters wide. It is an important passage connecting Shanghai Pudong to Puxi. It is not only able to feel the vicissitudes of Shanghai. Beach, listening to the "Dongfanghong" that sounds every once in a while can also appreciate the charm of history! Personally, I suggest that you come in the evening, sit around, blow your hair, feel the faint yellow before the sundial, and then feel the night scene at the beginning of the Hua Deng.

As the first city in China's economy and trade, Shanghai is the largest city in China, and second only to Tokyo in Japan. In Southeast Asia, the total amount is completely better than the old "Asian Four Little Dragons" such as Singapore and Hong Kong. Under the bustling night, people can't appreciate the magic of the city, so they are called the "magic capital" by the people. The term "Magic Capital" is more about the expression of praise for the bustling city. The prosperous international metropolis has absorbed the experience and capital of Chinese and Western development. What is unexpected, however, is that such a metropolis absorbs foreign experience and capital without being contaminated by the so-called "Western civilization" culture. It is appropriate to summarize the truth with such a phenomenon. It is. The Bund and Nanjing Road are all in the fruit of modern reform and opening up and the prosperity of the city.
Steven Zhang.
Going to the Bund must go, remember to have been overhauled in the previous two years, but it seems to have been heavily damaged by trucks in the past few months, so it has been tinkered many times. A bridge with a sense of history, steel structure, can overlook the Pujiang River, many wedding dresses are concave in the vicinity. When I passed by, I remembered a book by Cao Yu, "Sunrise". A very old film was played by Fang Shu and Wang Shizhen. It was still very small at that time. It seemed that I didn't understand it. Haha. There is also the scene of the Waibaidu Bridge starring Zhang Manyu, but I think about a lot of landmarks, which is a landmark landmark.
Peachsai.
Baidu Bridge, located in the lower reaches of the Suzhou River, frequently on the Huangpu River, is one of the landmarks of the old Shanghai. In the middle section of Heshen Road, 22 kilometers away from the county. Before the Tang Dynasty, this place was just an unnamed ferry. When the summer and autumn waters rose, the north and south were more than a thousand meters wide. The south to the north went to the pedestrians to rely on a one-leaf boat transition, and the usual width was five or six hundred meters.
Baidu Bridge was free in the past, so it was called Baidu. The bridge that was originally in the deep rain and Zhao Wei was jumping. The scenery was so beautiful. There are many European-style buildings on the Suzhou River, as if they were abroad. . When the traffic lights cross the road, look back at the empty Baidu Bridge, as if time is like the past, quiet to forget that the traffic lights are still flashing.
