This summer, my friends and I went to Dongjiang Lake in Chenzhou, Hunan Province. We were deeply attracted by the natural scenery here, so I want to share this wonderful journey with you all! 💕
💫 First impression of Dongjiang Lake 🤩:
When we drove to Dongjiang Lake, we were attracted by the blue and calm lake from afar. The sunlight shone on the lake, making it sparkle like a huge mirror embedded in the earth. The air was filled with a faint fragrance of grass, which made us feel relaxed and happy. 🌳
🍃 Strolling around Xiaodongjiang ⛰️:
After entering the scenic area, we took a boat to Xiaodongjiang, which is known as the "19th blessed land in the world." The water here is crystal clear, and the mountains on both sides are towering, like ink paintings. We were so fascinated by the scenery that we couldn't take our eyes off it. 😌~
🔥 The popular "Foggy Xiaodongjiang" is amazing 🎥:
When the first ray of sunlight in the morning shone on the water through the thin clouds, a thick milky white halo formed, and the whole lake was shrouded in a mysterious veil. We climbed up to the viewing platform and quietly waited for the legendary "Foggy Xiaodongjiang," which was like a dream. The river water gently rippled with the breeze, and the mist lingered in between, making us feel like we were in a fairyland. We were reluctant to leave. 🙏~
🥘 Taste authentic southern Hunan snacks 🍜🍰:
After playing, we couldn't miss the local food! We tried authentic Chenzhou rice noodles at a local snack bar. The taste was delicious, spicy, and fresh, which was definitely a blessing for foodies! 😘~~ In addition, there were various fresh fruits and pastries for you to choose from, satisfying your taste buds and leaving you with endless aftertastes. ❤️

After entering the scenic area, there are buses🚌 to take you to stops 1, 2, 3, and 4 along the lake.
I suggest getting off at stop 2 and walking🦵 to stop 4. The total walking distance is 2.2 kilometers, which is not tiring at all.
Then take the bus🚌 from stop 4 to Longjing Gorge, and after touring, the bus will take you back to the scenic area entrance.

🟡Lakeside Trail: Enjoy the misty Little Dongjiang Lake along the trail. It's great for taking photos📸. Walking takes about 1.5 hours.

📝Tips: You need to set off early in the morning. It's best to stay in a hotel near the scenic area. Wake up at 5 o'clock and enter around 6 o'clock. If you're late, there will be no fog, so you must get up early.
🧳Preparation: Make sure your phone has enough memory. The scenery is so beautiful that you'll want to take many photos, so ensure you have enough memory space. Otherwise, you won't have enough space for both videos and photos.
❤Recommendation: Dreamlike scenery, a fairyland on earth. Xiaodongjiang is a must-visit once in a lifetime. When you come here, you'll want to recite poetry like Li Bai, becoming a wandering hero. It's hard to imagine what kind of poetry Li Bai would create if he were at Xiaodongjiang.

Be sure to arrive in Chenzhou in advance because the best viewing time for Xiaodongjiang is from 6:00 to 8:30 in the morning, which is also when the morning fog is the thickest

Very cost-effective (not an advertisement). Of course, you can also check other hotels online, but they are quite expensive during the peak season. Pay attention to the address📍, it must be near Dongjiang, so you won't be in a hurry to get up early🥹
Tickets:
Online ticket purchase needs to be done one day in advance. After buying, you can directly swipe your ID card to enter the next day. (Line 1 80/person)
If you don't have time to buy tickets in advance, you can buy them directly at the visitor center (Line 1 85/person)
Scenic Area Guide:
There are a total of 4️⃣ platforms, and each platform has performances
Platform 1️⃣: Fishermen casting nets, Yao songs duet (casting nets every 15 minutes, 3 casts each time, starting at 6:30)
Platform 2️⃣: Hanfu girls singing and dancing, Hanfu girls posing on small boats (you can take a flower boat to tour Xiaodongjiang, 100/person)
Platform 4️⃣: Fishermen casting nets (same as Platform 1)
Recommended Travel Route:
Recommended to play at 6:00 in the morning
Take the shuttle bus to get off at Platform 1, then walk from Platform 1 to Platform 3, then take the bus to the dam to eat grilled fish. The grilled fish is very good! After eating the grilled fish, you can take the shuttle bus back.
⚠️Notes: The temperature is low in the morning, those who are afraid of the cold can wear long pants and long sleeves. Be sure to check the weather forecast before coming. If it rains, remember to prepare umbrellas and raincoats in advance. The quality inside the scenic area is not very good. There may be mosquitoes on the plank road, bring some spray just in case. Most importantly, tickets cannot be refunded, so make arrangements in advance, check the time, and remember to bring your ID card.

It seems that the prices vary in peak and off-peak seasons, it's recommended to check multiple ticketing platforms as there might be discounts, and after purchasing tickets, you can enter directly by scanning your ID card.
Transportation🚘: It's recommended to take a taxi or drive yourself, chartering a car can save trouble (relatively more expensive, it's better to compare several companies), there are also buses from the high-speed rail station to Zixing, but taking public transport might be more troublesome as it requires transfers.
Travel Tips:
1️⃣It's suggested to stay overnight near the scenic area in advance, so you can go out early the next day to have breakfast nearby, and then go to Dongjiang Lake to see the mist and watch the fishermen cast their nets. Try to enter as early as possible, the accommodation owner told us that the scenic area opens at 6 am, and when we entered around 7 am, there were already many people.
2️⃣Find a good spot in advance before the fishermen start casting nets, remember to take continuous shots, I didn't think of it at the time, and by the time I did, they had already stopped casting.
3️⃣If you want to climb the Longjing Canyon mountain trail, it's still recommended to wear sports shoes, as there are quite a few steps. Take your time and walk around for about an hour, you can bring some water and snacks. 🌟Platform 1 is closer, while Platform 2 requires walking back a bit. I took photos on the way from Platform 2 to 1, and recommend a 70-200 lens or a smartphone with medium to long zoom. The fishermen cast their nets frequently, so remember to use burst mode, with a shutter speed set to around 1/400 to 1/500 of a second.

Xiao Dongjiang is part of the Dongjiang Lake scenic area in Zixing, Chenzhou, Hunan. Located downstream of Dongjiang Lake, from the entrance of the Dongjiang Lake scenic area to the Dongjiang Dam, it spans about 12km. The water temperature of Xiao Dongjiang remains constant at 8-10 degrees Celsius year-round. From April to October each year, due to the temperature difference, layers of mist form on the river surface, creating a beautiful and serene landscape, like a fairyland, hence the name 'Misty Xiao Dongjiang'!

Nine years ago, when I first visited Xiao Dongjiang, cars could drive straight in, but this time, it has become a standard tourist area process! At the entrance, everyone takes a shuttle bus, and right at the first stop, there's a net-casting performance. However, the first stop is the most crowded, as most tour groups disembark there to watch the net casting and then walk to the second stop to continue their journey; so I suggest that we, the free travelers, also get off at the first stop, but there's no need to jostle for a spot with the uncles and aunties. Instead, we can walk along the Xiao Dongjiang to the second stop, take the shuttle bus to the fourth stop, where there's also net casting, and it's much less crowded, no tour groups, the scenery is beautiful and peaceful 😃
After watching the net casting, continue on the shuttle bus to the final stop, Longjing Gorge, and start a solo hike through the gorge. All the tour groups and most of the tourists only stay on the lower level to see one or two waterfalls, so as I climb higher, there are fewer and fewer people, but the waterfalls in the mountains become more and more spectacular, and without the hustle and bustle of the crowd below, that's when you truly appreciate the beauty of Longjing Gorge!
