Peak Pursuit: Scaling Thailand's Sky-High Summit
In the heart of Northern Thailand, I embarked on an exhilarating journey to conquer the country's highest peak, Doi Inthanon. Nestled within the breathtakingly beautiful Doi Inthanon National Park, this towering summit stands as a testament to Thailand's natural grandeur.
Doi Inthanon, fondly known as "The Roof of Thailand," stretches an impressive 2,565 meters above sea level. The mountain is part of the Thanon Thong Chai Range, an extension of the Himalayas, which spans several countries across Southeast Asia. The park that houses the peak is named after King Inthawichayanon, the last king of Chiang Mai, who was passionate about preserving the area's lush forests.
The trek to the top was a blend of challenge and charm, with the rugged trails meandering through lush forests, past cascading waterfalls, and offering panoramic views of the mist-shrouded valleys below. As I reached the summit, the sense of accomplishment was matched only by the awe-inspiring vista of the sun setting over the verdant expanse.

Doi Inthanon National Park
One of Thailand's best National parks and highest mountain, the temperature drops by 2 degrees in the morning. You'll be refreshed by the beauty of the place, the twin pagodas, the weather, and the flowers. We hire private transportation because our accommodation is in Chiangmai's city center. Doi Inthanon is nearly 2 hours by van from the city center. #amazingthailand #2023travelwish #mytripvlog

Mae Klang Luang Village
One of the highlights of our Doi Inthanon trip is a visit to Mae Klang Luang Village. This village has a simple life with depecting rice farming and vegetation. It is abundant with producing organic arabica coffee and bath soap. Weaving is a source of livelihood too. This village has also some cafes and restaurants.

Doi Inthanon: The Highest Peak in Thailand
Drive up to Doi Inthanon, the highest point in Thailand.
In mid-October, during the transition from the rainy season to winter, the forest remains very moist. Trees, leaves, moss, ferns, and lichens are lush and green.
Stop to see blooming hydrangeas.
At the top, there are coffee, snacks, dim sum, steamed buns, and simple meals to fill your stomach. There are also a few souvenir shops.
Visit the Doi Inthanon exhibition, which covers its history from past to present, including old height measurements and explorations.
This is an activity you shouldn't miss when visiting Chiang Mai.

Sakura at Doi Inthanon
Hello! When it comes to cherry blossoms in Thailand, one of the top spots is Doi Inthanon, the highest point in the country.
The cherry blossoms bloom from late December to February each year because it gets very cold. In the early morning, temperatures can even drop below freezing, and you might see frost. If you want to experience the cold and beautiful scenery, it's recommended to book accommodation and trips in advance to get good deals and enjoy the million-dollar nature.

Terraced Rice Fields at Doi Inthanon
On the way down from Doi Inthanon, I saw a sign for terraced rice fields and decided to take a look. It was my first time seeing terraced rice fields with rice plants in full bloom. The rice plants were very tall, and each step of the terrace was quite high.
The water management system here is excellent. It doesn't require much human labor to direct water to the necessary fields.
This place also serves as a camping ground and has accommodations. The owner is very kind and allowed us to park our car and explore the fields.

Woke up at 4:30am!! & it was all worth it!!
Did a short hike up to Doi Ithanon to catch the sunrise. It is so worth it. You have to pay 200THB as it is mandatory to have a guide with you throughout the hike. It was pitch black but don’t worry, the guide has a portable mini light to shine the path through. Weather is quite cold as you are 2,565 meters above sea level. You also catch a view of the Pagoda from up here. Totally worth waking up early!!
