Xuzhou Han Culture Scenic Area.
The Xuzhou Han Culture Scenic Area starts from the Third Ring Road in the east, to the Longhai Line in the south, to the Beijing-Shanghai Line in the west, and to Luotuo Mountain in the north. The entire scenic area is a three-dimensional history of the Han Dynasty, with terracotta warriors, tombs, Han paintings, mountains, water, and ancient temples. It is the largest Han culture theme park in China and a national 4A-level boutique cultural tourism area, integrating the "Three Wonders of the Two Han Dynasties." Through further excavation, restoration, and protection of historical resources, the scenic area has built unique landscapes, attractions, and supporting facilities, providing valuable sightseeing routes and leisure and entertainment venues for tourists and citizens. It is a Han culture protection base and boutique tourist attraction integrating historical exhibitions, garden landscapes, and tourism and leisure. The main entrance of the scenic area, Han Culture Square, is about 280 meters long from east to west, about 90 meters wide from north to south, and covers an area of 18,000 square meters. It adopts a symmetrical pattern with a solemn central axis. Its spatial orientation is east-west, with entrance square, compass, chronology of major events in the Two Han Dynasties, historical and cultural exhibition corridor, Biyong Square, and other attractions arranged in sequence. The bronze statue of Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty, stands at the end, forming a complete spatial sequence.

Just returned from Xuzhou, 3 days and 2 nights, no pitfalls, all honest words!
For Qin and Tang culture, go to Xi'an; for Ming and Qing culture, go to Beijing; for Han culture, go to Xuzhou. From Xiang Yu to Tao Qian, from Liu Bei to Lu Bu, Xuzhou was their stage. When traveling to Xuzhou, you must see the three Han Dynasty wonders (Han Terracotta Warriors, Han Tombs, and Han Stone Carvings).
Xuzhou is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the city on one side. The city layout is similar to Hangzhou, with Yunlong Lake, which has the same lake and mountain scenery as West Lake. The city has a strong cultural atmosphere, most attractions are free, and the cost of living is not high, making it very suitable for leisure and dining.
2 days and 1 night itinerary
Day 1: Xuzhou Museum → Yunlong Mountain → Xinghua Temple → Yunlong Lake → Observation Deck → Cable Car/Hiking Down the Mountain (Yunlong Lake Direction) → Fuguo Street (Xingshi Community)
Day 2: Huilongwo → City Wall Museum → Ximatai → Folk Museum
Day 3: Han Culture Scenic Area → Baolian Temple → Return
Must-visit places in Xuzhou
1. Xuzhou Museum: Western Han Dynasty Dragon-shaped Jade Pendant, jade, ceramics, Han Terracotta Warriors, etc. The museum's treasure is the Golden Threaded Jade Garment.
2. Yunlong Lake Scenic Area: Yunlong Mountain is right in front of the museum entrance. The observation deck on the mountain top offers a bird's-eye view of Yunlong Lake and the entire Xuzhou city.
3. Baolian Temple: A grand Tang Dynasty-style temple with impressive architecture (near Xuzhou East Station).
Huilongwo Historical and Cultural Block: Recommended to visit at 6–7 pm for the night view, with lanterns everywhere, full of Jiangnan charm.
4. City Wall Museum: Ming Dynasty relics, ancient city walls buried underground for over 600 years.
Hubushan: A large historical and cultural block.
5. Ximatai, the folk highland of Xuzhou: The highest point of Hubushan, one of the earliest existing relics in Xuzhou, the remains of Xiang Yu, the King of Western Chu. Reservations are required in advance (free).
6. Han Culture Scenic Area: The largest Han culture theme park in China, ticket price is 80.
7. Guishan Han Tomb: An underground palace, the joint tomb of Liu Zhu, King of Chu in the Western Han Dynasty, and his wife, ticket price is 72.

Xuzhou 48-Hour Gourmet Travel Check-in Guide
Traveling to Xuzhou from Beijing and Shanghai, the high-speed train takes only a minimum of 2.5 hours, making it suitable for weekend trips. Most attractions in Xuzhou do not charge an entrance fee, and there is a 2000-year-old barbecue culture, with the average cost per person in restaurants rarely exceeding 70 yuan. Many people have already regarded it as a budget travel destination, but it has not yet become as popular as Harbin or Tianshui.
Must-visit spot 1: Guishan Han Tomb, the most magnificent discovered among the tombs of the kings of Chu, with a total of 15 tomb chambers and an area of over 700 square meters, almost hollowing out the entire mountain. The ticket price of 80 yuan is not cheap. The scenic area also includes two additional attractions, the Imperial Edict Museum and the Dianshi Garden, which houses a large collection of stone carvings and steles. Although the collections are decent, there is a suspicion of padding.
Must-visit spot 2: Han Dynasty Relief Stone Art Gallery, free of charge. It displays nearly 600 pieces of Han Dynasty relief stone masterpieces, recreating various aspects of life during the Han Dynasty, including cattle farming, weaving, chariot travel, feasting and drinking, music and dance, myths and legends, etc., known as the 'Epic on Stone'. If time is limited, you can choose to only visit the newly built South Hall.
Must-visit spot 3: Xuzhou Museum, free of charge. Hundreds of Han tombs are scattered around Xuzhou, and the unearthed artifacts such as gold-threaded, silver-threaded, and copper-threaded jade garments, as well as jade dragons, pottery figurines, and lacquer coffins inlaid with jade, are all on display here. As a must-visit for tourists, it is best to make a reservation in advance to ensure entry on the day.
Other attractions are optional, including: Baolian Temple near Xuzhou East Station, built in 2009, where the internet-famous pastries need to be purchased early in the morning and are quickly sold out after lunch, free admission; Xima Terrace, newly built in 1985, where the exhibition hall is used to tell the story of Xiang Yu from birth to defeat in battle, free of charge; Hubu Mountain under Xima Terrace, where several famous residences are located, which compared to the thousands of ancient streets across the country, are not particularly distinctive, free of charge; Huilongwo next to Hubu Mountain subway station, which was once known for its low-lying terrain and difficulty in draining rainwater, has now become a commercial street constructed with antique buildings, free of charge.
Regarding Han tombs, Shizishan Han Tomb (also known as Han Culture Scenic Area), Beidongshan Han Tomb Exhibition Hall (to be opened in 2024), and Baiji Han Tomb are also quite famous and worth considering.
Eating in Xuzhou: Most barbecue restaurants open after 4 p.m. and close around 1 or 2 a.m. The barbecue restaurant Lvdi Sanzhiyang in the city center is particularly popular, with many people still waiting for a table even after 11 p.m. If you really want to try the barbecue, it is recommended to go when they open in the afternoon or to visit shops that are not in the city center. If you go during meal times, be prepared to queue for two hours.
Xuzhou has several food streets, including the 1818 Night Market, Fuguo Street, and Fengchu Street. Among them, Fengchu Street offers the best experience, with shops selling shaved ice, Bazirou (pork belly), rice noodles, steak, chicken strips, etc., all crammed into a short street, with waiting times not being exaggerated.
If you want to eat Xuzhou cuisine, you should look for restaurants that serve dishes like clay pot chicken and garlic burst fish. The differences between those old restaurants that have been open for decades are not significant. If any internet-famous restaurant requires waiting for more than an hour, I would suggest checking out other shops.
For breakfast, you can consider the time-honored brand Lianglai Feng's beef potstickers, pan-fried buns, and spicy soup with egg.

Not only does it have the 'Three Uniques of the Han Dynasty', this scenic spot in Xuzhou also allows you to go down into tombs!
Last time I wrote about the Han Tomb of Turtle Mountain in Xuzhou, which was well received by everyone. In fact, there is another scenic spot in Xuzhou where you can also go down into tombs!
This is the Xuzhou Han Culture Scenic Area, the largest and richest in content, and the most concentrated Han culture preservation base in the Xuzhou area. Here you can visit the 'Three Uniques of the Han Dynasty' in one go. The 'Three Uniques of the Han Dynasty' are the Han tombs, the Han terracotta warriors and horses, and the Han murals, all of which can be seen here.
The entire scenic area is quite large, and it takes two to three hours to visit the whole area.
🛣️Route: Lion Mountain Chu King Mausoleum➡️Han Terracotta Warriors Museum➡️Underwater Terracotta Warriors Museum➡️Han Portrait Stone Corridor➡️Bamboo Forest Temple➡️Liu Family Ancestral Hall➡️Sheep Ghost Mountain Queen's Tomb
1⃣️Lion Mountain Chu King Mausoleum
✔️This is the tomb of Liu Wu, the third generation Chu king who was enfeoffed in Xuzhou during the Western Han Dynasty, and is the essence of the Han Culture Scenic Area. This is the top archaeological discovery in China in 1995 and one of the 100 major archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century. The tomb chambers here are arranged in a straight line, and at the end of the tomb chamber is a restored sculpture of the Chu king. However, compared to the Han Tomb of Turtle Mountain, the overall area is smaller and the richness is somewhat less.
2⃣️Han Terracotta Warriors Museum
✔️The Han Terracotta Warriors are another major discovery after the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an, and they are the burial objects of the Chu king. However, the Han Terracotta Warriors are quite different from the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an, they are much smaller in size, and the Han Terracotta Warriors are more mini. In terms of the depiction of expressions and postures, they also use a freehand style, which is different from the realistic style of the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an.
3⃣️Underwater Terracotta Warriors Museum
✔️After visiting the Han Terracotta Warriors Museum, walk a few hundred meters ahead and you will come to the Underwater Terracotta Warriors Museum. This is also the first museum in China built in water, and it also displays restored pit and restored terracotta warriors. The scenery here is very good, with a whole lake and winding paths, which will make people feel calm and peaceful.
4⃣️Han Portrait Stone Corridor
✔️After visiting the Underwater Terracotta Warriors Museum, there is a winding corridor along the water, which displays murals from the Han Dynasty. You can see many murals depicting myths and legends, and the murals of the Han Dynasty are also more freehand.
🌈Tips:
✔️Pets are not allowed, not pet-friendly
✔️If you are particularly interested, you can ask a guide to explain, but the overall area of the Chu King Mausoleum is slightly small
✔️If you are interested in Han tombs, it is strongly recommended to visit the Han Tomb of Turtle Mountain
✔️There are discounts for buying tickets one day in advance

The tea from the Overlord Tea Princess, Ma Wu Wang, Yunlong Let Tea (Xuzhou local brand) are all very good. Greenland Barbecue: Xuzhou barbecue is considered a special delicacy, you can experience the fun of barbecuing yourself, and the skewers are also relatively large.
Special snacks: spicy soup (local people often drink in the morning, it is recommended by local people to eat, it is relatively spicy for people who can't eat spicy), Xuzhou rice noodles, spicy chicken (this is really spicy, but it is also very delicious), Roselle tea, etc. Xuzhou's food is really a lot, it feels very close to the taste of the north, I really like it.
