Chung Tai Chan Monastery
Chung Tai Chan Monastery is located in Puli Township, Nantou County. The construction of Chung Tai Chan Monastery began in 1990 and took ten years to complete, officially finishing in 2001. Designed by the renowned architect Mr. C.Y. Lee, the monastery combines elements of both Eastern and Western architecture. It has become a center of faith for many Buddhist followers, attracting a continuous stream of visitors and devotees.
The main structure of Chung Tai Chan Monastery is primarily made of stone, symbolizing the solidity and permanence of spiritual practice. From the side, the main building resembles a meditator sitting in the green mountains, while the front view looks like a jet ready to take off, symbolizing the Zen principle of sudden enlightenment and direct realization of Buddhahood.
