There is so much more that just gardens here - there are also a few small museums with information on the history of the Ainu people, animals of region, and local history.
If you like gardens, you'll probably go here anyway, but even if you don't, it is a lovely calm spot in the middle of the city.

Hokkaido University Botanical Garden
Today, I visited the Hokkaido University Botanical Garden. The garden has a traditional Japanese style with small bridges and lakes. There are cherry blossoms, budding maple trees, and various flowers in full bloom. The ecosystem within the garden is quite good, with various small animals and insects. It's very lively and vibrant. After the visit, I already decided what to have for dinner. Let's go!

As I stepped into the Botanic Garden of Hokkaido University, a gentle rain was falling, lending a tranquil charm to the surroundings. The raindrops whispered among the leaves, creating a serene symphony. Just moments after my entrance, the sky began to clear, revealing a soft, azure expanse. The garden, freshly washed by the rain, glistened with renewed vibrancy. Leaves sparkled, and flowers displayed their brightest hues, each petal a vivid testimony to nature's palette.
The garden was a harmonious blend of local flora, native Ainu plants, and exotic species from distant lands. Native Japanese plants stood proudly alongside vibrant blooms from across the globe, creating a rich tapestry of colors and textures. Particularly captivating were the sections dedicated to Ainu flora, where the uses and significance of these indigenous plants were thoughtfully detailed. Each Ainu plant had a story, revealing traditional uses in medicine, cuisine, and crafts.
Walking through this lush sanctuary, I felt as if I were in a living painting, every plant and blossom more vivid and alive than ever before. The beauty and diversity of the flora made each step a new discovery, a testament to the garden's careful curation and the natural world's boundless splendor. The blend of local, Ainu, and foreign flora created a unique and enriching experience, making my visit truly unforgettable.

This is an amazing park
Beautiful park which I’m sure it’s worth it at various times of the year, to get to see different blooms. Didn’t use the map, well marked and easy to navigate. Though the flowers that bloom would depend on the season
Absolutely gorgeous! There are 2 routes: inner (10stops) and outer (20stops). We have done both and spent a lot of time in the greenhouse, the museum, Ainu museum and memorial place

#thingstodo Beautiful garden with lots of beautiful matured trees. However our visit was cut short as a deer had made its way in and the administration thought that it might be dangerous. So we didn't get our full fill and full feel of the gardens. The administration was very gracious to offer us a refund of the entrance fees. Of course we didn't take it 😜 very understanding on their part🙏
