Why Batam will always be close to our hearts (Nov 2023)
Even though this Indonesian island is located just a few kilometers away from Singapore by sea, it never fails to leave us amazed by its wild beauty, very affordable accommodation and food, and superb option for a short getaway. And of course, Trip.com has so many great options and deals for us to book our next vacation to Batam (;
This time around we visited Batam as a group of 3 families with young children. We wanted to have some family fun and so we decided to explore Panbil Nature Reserve Park. It was really easy to get there either by Grab or Gojek. There are lots of family and children friendly activities available at the park including ATV, trekking with the deers, and some of the more kid friendly stuff like feeding the farm animals (see images).
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay at Batam in Nov 2023 and would love to head back there again this year to try other exciting activities like kayaking and water skiing etc. and to satisfy our cravings for the awesome food there! #batam2023 #batam2024 #indonesia2024

If you are visiting Batam and want to get away far from the city, this is the right place to visit.
The whole island is the resort itself, it looks like small Maldives.
The room is on the sea, it has great sunset and sunrise view and during the night you can gaze the night star. It was an amazing experience to be here.

tam is just about an hour and 15 minutes Ferry ride from Singapore. It is a place where you can enjoy good food, inexpensive grocery items and great massage! The massage I had in Batam was one of the most favourite massages I ever had. The beef rendang they have is delicious! We also went to an attraction they have which is called the miniature houses. I went to Batam Indonesia along with my family to celebrate my sister in law's birthday. We spent a night over the weekend there. A lot of people will try the seafood over in Batam when they are there. That's what we did. After searching the Internet, we went for Harbour Bay Seafood Restaurant.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were captivated by the big neon lights of the restaurant signboard. As we went inside, we were captivated even more with the ambience. To our surprise, there was even a live singer with musician too.
We then proceed to order food like chilli crab, calamari, butter crab etc. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Prices here are like 10k,12k,15k for those on the conveyor belt. Found the salmon, tuna, unagi sushi to be extremely worthwhile as it is almost not possible to find this pricing in markets like Singapore. If you are at Batam and you are someone who is always on the lookout for cheap and value for money deals/offers, recommend you to check out Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall. This mall has been around for more than 10 years and the shop here offers cheap items. For those ladies not into shopping, there are also a few shops with competitive prices for pedicure and nails.
You can also check out the bakery here - there are two shops which sells kueh lapis which many will take home after a Batam trip, supermarket, souvenir shop, etc.
Food available here in restaurants are plenty too.

If you are planning a trip to Batam, do try this herbal tea shop drink, which I feel has both entry level (cup) to large bottle worth of herbal tea.
This chain is located in two of the malls I visited and it’s exterior is clean, so definitely safe to try.
Bold people can go for the bitter herbal tea while people who just want to try this for the first time can consider their sweeter drinks - such as Liang Teh Kurma Merah :)

Sushi Rio a relatively good food outlet which sells sushi starting from RP 10k,12k,15k etc. It covers both main sushi and also desserts like mochi. Seats are also comfortable so suggest you to visit when you want to eat sushi.
You can try to have mochi, cheese dragon sushi, green tea, unagi and tuna sushi, for example as these are all affordable and taste fresh. For people who like cooked food, this place also sells fried and dry udon sets. Other suggestions will be to try their salmon and tamago sushi as they are really worth it and cheap compared to other countries.

If you are someone who likes taking pictures or have little ones to bring around and keep them entertained, do consider bringing them to Batam Miniature House.
It is an area filled with miniature house - replicating famous sites and buildings in Indonesia.
We did see people taking pictures, having picnics other than walking around these house sculptures so you can spend or budget around an hour here.
Entrance is free! This makes it yet another reason to visit though if you like, you can make donations at the donation box located at the entrance.

If you are at Batam and have some time to spare, do consider checking out this place called Level Up, where you can have drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) as well as food such as the usual finger bites, chicken wings.
This place is special due to its ambiance- you can see people doing water sports and choose the different various seating options here as well.
Personally recommend getting an outdoor seat where you can see people kayaking and fishing as it is closer to nature and away from city life.

Do check out Turi Beach. It is a beach located at Batam which is not too crowded as well, which gives you ample space and opportunity to do things like picnic and chill.
didn’t manage to catch the sunset so maybe you can try for sunrise if you are a morning riser :)
There are also food for sale nearby, such as hotdog buns, burgers, coconut drinks etc so you can check it out if you are hungry or just want a light snack and drink.

Are you someone that loves buffet? Especially international buffets?
Would recommend to you the international buffet from Taming Sari Cafe. This is a buffet that has not only traditional Indonesian cuisine but also western and Indian cuisine etc.
Food such as prata, chicken noodles with broth, scrambled egg are also cooked on the spot for you and you can customise some of the spices added.
Personally also like the Indonesian desserts offered here. :)
The place is open from 7-10am so it’s good for both early and late risers.

Are you someone who likes to take photos with flyers? What if you can take pictures both from an elevated height and also from inside the flyer?
There is one at Batam located at Coastarina. The hand sculptures reminded me of the hands at Danang mercure bridge. You can climb up the hand sculpture to get a view with the flyer.
Would suggest you to bring a tripod stand in order to get a good view of the flyer if you want to get a good picture. Do come before evening time so the view is better :)
If interested, you can also sit inside the flyer, which we opted not to in interest of time.

It has games suitable for all — young ones can go for Transformer ride, older ones and teens can go for bumper cars or time crisis to relive your childhood memories.
Games are affordable from $1/game so do check this place out if you have some extra time to spend, especially with kids at Batam. Would recommend you to spend about 1 to 1.5 hours here for a complete experience.

the best way to relax is to soak yourself under the sun and enjoy massages... all these are the must-dos in Batam! 🤩 the food are all so tasty and affordable! a large plate of fried squid costs only 6 USD! value for money and everyone in Batam is so friendly! next time when i'm back, i'll definitely stay much longer 😆 also, it's really affordable to hire a private driver just to get around the place 🙊 if you're looking for a relaxing weekend short getaway, Batam is definitely the place for you! Outdoor farmers’ market
Located right outside Four Points Hotel by Sheraton, this farmers’ market stretches for quite a distance on a wide road. We were first drawn to it by the tents set up and the bustling atmosphere, so we decided to check it out.
They sell all sorts of produce here, from chillies to vegetables to spices like turmeric and ginger. In addition, there are also stalls selling clothes and other knick knacks such as batteries, pots and pans. It was quite an experience but do remember to keep your items close to you as we warned by the locals. Avoid carrying anything too easy to snatch and empty your pockets just in case there are pickpockets!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the Best Coffee In Bali(Batam)
Batam is a favourite place in Indonesia for Singaporeans to go for a short weekend trip over the weekends. Most Singaporeans will do a 2 day 1 night stay here.
One of the place you have to visit is the 70 Fahrenheit koffie located at Jl. Bengkong Laut, Tj. Buntung, Kec. Bengkong, Kota Batam.
You can learn about how the factory makes the coffee, from the processing and drying of the beans to the milling and even the tasting of the coffee. In addition, the operations on the workforce, power production, quality control and marketing behind the company.
Upon entering into the lounge, you will be able to smell the aromatic roasted coffee and get a taste of these coffee. If you do like it, you can even buy these beans right on the spot, both grinder or the whole bean itself. A great experience to our daily morning drink.
