Beautiful Cebu
Cebu's architecture is a captivating blend of historical and contemporary styles, reflecting its rich cultural heritage and modern growth. The iconic Magellan's Cross and Basilica Minore del Santo Niño showcase Spanish colonial influences with their intricate designs and historical significance. In contrast, modern skyscrapers like the Cebu IT Park symbolize the city's rapid urbanization. Visitors can also admire ancestral houses, such as Casa Gorordo, which offer glimpses into Cebu's past. The mix of old and new, with traditional structures standing alongside contemporary buildings, makes Cebu a fascinating destination for architecture enthusiasts

Santo Niño Basilica, Cebu, Philippines 💖
One of the famous tourist attractions in Cebu, Philippines, is the Santo Niño Church!
It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1941 and is still in great condition today~ Most Filipinos are Catholic, and the Mazaren Cross is a place that many people visit and take pictures of.
It is a place where you can feel the faith and history of the Filipinos for a moment.
It is a church with 500 years of history, and the statue of the baby Jesus is famous, and the Sinulog Festival is held here every January. :)

Our very first domestic trip after pandemic was in the Queen City of South, Cebu and it was so memorable as we got to see this beautiful church again.
Per our history books, this church was built in the 16th century and is considered the oldest church in the Philippines 🇵🇭
The amazing thing is that, despite our distinct religious beliefs, many tourists still come to witness Sto.Niño’s (infant Jesus) image and offer praise and worship. So nice that many people around the world, include this place in their list.
TRIVIA: Photos were taken during the day vs at night for comparison.
Best Time: Visit during office hours on weekdays (8am to 5pm) as locals are working.
Peak hours: 5pm onwards on weekdays and whole day on weekends ⏰
In 2023, I dream to visit more churches, temples or any other worship places in Asia. 🙏

Sto Nino Church in Cebu City, Philippines
commonly known as Santo Niño Basilica, is a basilica in Cebu City in the Philippines that was founded in 1565 by Fray Andrés de Urdaneta and Fray Diego de Herrera. It is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, allegedly built on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño de Cebú was found during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi.
This image of the Child Jesus is the same presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the chief consort of Rajah Humabon on the occasion of their royal Baptism to Roman Catholicism on 14 April 1521. The image was found by a soldier named Juan de Camuz forty years later, preserved in a wooden box, after Legazpi had razed a local village. When Pope Paul VI made the church a basilica in 1965, he declared it to be "the symbol of the birth and growth of Christianity in the Philippines."

Faith and a Little Prayer
Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu is Cebu’s holiest church where it houses the original and oldest religious relic of Christ’s child, Santo Niño. It is located at Osmeña St, Cebu City which is just beside the famous landmark of Magellan’s Cross which is a no stranger to anyone and is also near to other tourist spots in Cebu.
During our visit, there was no mass so instead we took time to fall in line along with everybody else to offer a little prayer to the Santo Niño statuette.
Beside the church is also a museum exclusive to Santo Niño only where vestments and other offerings to the Santo Niño are displayed.

Trippers
Basilica Minore del Santo Niño is one of the most visited churches in Cebu. Not only because it is one of the oldest church, but also Santo Niño is the patron of Cebu. Mass are usually held outside the basilica due to the numbers of devotees. However, you need to go inside the basilica to completely appreciate its beauty. Also, you can find paintings which tells you the history of Christianity in Cebu.

EnjoyTrip
The Church of the Infant is now worshipping the patron saint of Cebu, the icon of the wooden patron, on the altar of the church, the oldest icon in the Philippines. In 1565, Cebu experienced a big fire, and the entire Cebu was razed to the ground, but the only baby was intact and became a legend. Therefore, people think that the Holy Child is blessed with the blessing of God, and worshipped it, and specially built a statue of the young Jesus Christ at the place where the image of the baby was found, and placed a replica of the image of the baby in the convent of the Catholic Church. Inside, the original version of the baby is preserved in the holy temple of the church. Listening to this story, I seem to think that this place has to go. Around the church, many believers who sell candles, they have a uniform dress, volunteer here, if someone buys a candle, they pray together, all income is used for the repair and maintenance of the church. Traveling in Cebu is always unconsciously impressed by the beliefs of the locals.
Jojos trip.

In 1521, the Portuguese navigator Magellan preached Catholicism in Cebu. In honor of this grand religious ceremony, Magellan erected a cross in Cebu. In order to protect this historical artifact, a pavilion house was built on the way to the Church of St. Petro in the Church of the Holy Child to store it. The hexagonal ceiling murals retain the original appearance of the year, and the colors are very vivid and vivid. Every Sunday morning, there are countless good men and women with a fragrant candle to pray for good luck. And the cross will have an endless stream of blood red roses.
Behind the Magellan's Cross is the Church of the Holy Child. In 1565, the Cebu war was destroyed. On April 27, a fire destroyed the Cebu. Only the "Sacred Baby Image" was as good as ever. The locals called it a miracle and worshipped it. The locals specially built a juvenile image of Jesus Christ at the site where the image of the baby was found, and placed a replica of the image of the baby in the convent of the Catholic Church. The original image of the baby was preserved in the holy temple of the church.
The Church of the Holy Child has prayers every day. The non-Christians in the previous district cannot enter. Please visit the civilization.
