The Intersection of Greenery and Dreams: A Journey to Awaji Yumebutai
Day 1: Harmony of Nature and Architecture
In the early morning, I took a bus to Awaji Yumebutai on Awaji Island, a complex designed by Tadao Ando that perfectly blends modern architecture with natural landscapes. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the layered architectural structures that seamlessly integrate with the surrounding mountains and waters. Walking into the Hyakudan-en, I was mesmerized by the 1,500 species of flowers blooming in the terraced garden, like a vivid painting. I strolled through, admiring the interplay between the flowers and the architecture, feeling as if I were in a dream. In the afternoon, I visited the conference center to view an exhibition themed 'Nature and Regeneration,' experiencing a profound dialogue between architecture and ecology.
Day 2: Leisurely Stroll in the Poetic World of Awaji
The next day, I chose to explore the natural scenery around Yumebutai. In the morning, I walked along the gentle slope paths, appreciating the elegance of Japanese gardens and the serene beauty reflected in the lakes. At the Awaji Yumebutai Botanical Garden, it felt like entering a green labyrinth, with every scene filled with poetry. In the afternoon, I visited the nearby Awaji Island National Akashi Kaikyō Park, continuing the nature journey from Yumebutai. Lying on the lawn, I enjoyed the comfort of the breeze. Over these two days, I wandered between the resonance of architecture and nature, my heart filled with emotion and tranquility.
This garden was created as a 'Garden of Prayer' for the victims of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Each block is planted with green plants and flowers, including sunflowers. The view of the sea from the hilltop was spectacular, but I was particularly moved by the beauty of the green mountains and Hyakudan-en Garden against the summer sky. It is also a popular photo spot. Highly recommended for Awaji Island sightseeing.

[Awaji Yumebutai] A starry sky and night view connected ✨ Illuminations with beautiful architecture ✨
Awaji Island is 30 minutes away from Kobe. Awaji Yumebutai has also started a limited-time illumination event✨The illuminations are exceptionally beautiful amidst Tadao Ando's architecture. I'll introduce three recommended points here☝️━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✅Reason 1: The view from the hotel is a spectacular sight of 🏛Tadao Ando's architecture⭐️starry sky🌊sea✨illumination! The first photo was taken from the hotel room📷━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✅Reason 2: The greenhouse illuminations are also being held for a limited time✨This is also of course an Ando Tadao architecture. The botanical garden is also filled with a Christmas atmosphere and has many photo spots📷✨🎄━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✅Reason 3: Unlike the illuminations in the city, you won't be surrounded by crowds at all...✨You can take a walk, of course, but if you stay at the Grand Nikko Awaji, you can also enjoy the view from your room✨━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⚠️Notes☑︎Awaji Green Hall is only lit up for a short time after dark except on weekends! It may be a little hard to find because it's still bright outside. ☑︎There were so few people around late at night that it was a little scary😂I recommend visiting Hyakudanen after dark with someone⭐️━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The lighting while surrounded by Tadao Ando's architecture is the best. I've added spot stamps to the photos so please use them as a reference 📷⭐️━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📍Awaji Yumebutai📮1 Yumebutai, Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture🚃From Maiko Station on the Kobe Line, take the bus bound for Awaji Yumebutai-mae, Tsuna Rinkai Park, or Higashiura Bus Terminal for about 20 minutes to Awaji Yumebutai-mae🚗About 30 minutes from Sannomiya🌲Outside illumination🌲Illumination at Hyakudan-en and outside the building Period: November 19th (Sat) - March 12th, 2023 (Sun) Illumination time: 16:00-22:00🎫: Free admission🌴Awaji Yumebutai Koen Greenhouse Awaji Green Hall🌴Period: November 19th (Sat) - January 15th, 2023 Sun.
