During my summer visit to Oslo, I explored Akershus Fortress, and it was a real treat! 🏰✨ Located on a hill overlooking the Oslofjord, this historic fortress offers not only a fascinating glimpse into Norway’s medieval past but also incredible views of the city and the water. The entrance to the fortress is free, but if you want to join a guided tour, it costs about 100 NOK (around $10).
Walking through the well-preserved walls and visiting the museums inside was a highlight. The medieval architecture and the exhibits on Norway’s history were both educational and visually impressive. 🛡️📜 Nearby, you’ll find the Oslo City Hall and the lively Aker Brygge area, perfect for a stroll or a meal after your visit.
If you’re into history or just love stunning views, Akershus Fortress is definitely worth a stop!

I passed this free fortress on the way back to the parking spot.
It's actually a large park
There is a museum at the fort where you can learn about the history.
The view of Oslo's harbor from here is beautiful
I walked back along the harbor and found a floating apartment.
This is a large residential project
It can be seen that the sales are very good
There are still several places under construction in the back.
😆There are Easter eggs in the last two photos😆

Akershus fortress
Akershus Castle is a medieval castle in the Norwegian capital of Oslo, built to protect and serve as a royal residence for the city. Since the Middle Ages, the fortress was the eponymous and main fief center, and later the main district of Akershus, which was originally one of the four main regions of Norway and included most of Eastern Norway. The fortress was located in the main district of Akershus until 1919 and within the smaller subdivision of Akershus until 1842.

The Akershus Castle
Akershus Fortress or Akershus Castle is a medieval castle in the Norwegian capital Oslo that was built to protect and provide a royal residence for the city. Since the Middle Ages the fortress has been the namesake and centre of the main fief and later main county of Akershus, which was originally one of Norway's four main regions and which included most of Eastern Norway. The fortress itself was located within the Akershus main county until 1919, and also within the smaller Akershus sub county until 1842. The Fusion of Art and Modern Architecture in Oslo, Norway
Oslo is the capital of Norway, but honestly, it's one of the few cities I wouldn't recommend staying in for too long. The real fun in Norway isn't in the capital, but in the surrounding beautiful natural landscapes. However, since it's the capital, it's still worth a visit.
The most famous building is undoubtedly the Oslo Opera House. On a sunny day, it looks like an elegant iceberg, showcasing the unique charm of Scandinavia.
Next is the nearby Akershus Fortress, completed in 1340. It was primarily used to defend Oslo and also served as a prison.
If you're interested in saunas, there are many sauna shops near the Opera House. When you're thoroughly steamed inside, jumping into the 7 or 8-degree sea can be quite exhilarating. (Cardiovascular patients, please be cautious.)

Akershus Fortress, Oslo
apparently one of the most haunted buildings in the world, although I didn't see any ghoulies on my recent visit! The fortress itself has a great location and can be walked to from the city centre .it includes a number or artillery museums but all were closed when we visited .The fortress itself is free to enter and walk around. The views across the Oslofjord are spectacular and worth the visit alone .#oslo #norway
