- Borobudur: The largest Buddhist temple in the world and one of Indonesia's eight world heritage sites. It was built between 750 and 850 AD and is known as one of the four ancient wonders of the East. You can book a sunrise or sunset ticket online in advance to enjoy the stunning views.
- Mendut Temple: Located not far from Borobudur, it was discovered in 1836 and restored by the Dutch between 1897 and 1904. The temple houses outstanding Javanese statues, including a 3-meter-high statue of Vairocana and two Bodhisattva statues.
- Rainbow Village at the foot of Mount Sumbing: Located about ten kilometers from Magelang, you can see the beautiful view of the volcano and Rainbow Village from 5 to 7 am.

- From the airport: You can take a DAMRI minibus to Borobudur, or take a Grab taxi or an airport tour charter.

Lesser known but worth the stop!
Candi Mendut is one of the oldest Buddhist temple in outskirts of Yogyakarta. Overshadowed by the bigger Candi Borobudur, Mendut is a place that you’ll pass by along the way and I would strongly recommend for a stop here and immense yourself in the serenity of the surrounding area. Take a shade under the magnificent tree right next to Candi Mendut and enjoy the view of the temple.#travel #yogyakarta #indonesia
